Relic Site

You lucky sons of bitches.

Your flight paths are graced by Arceus himself, guiding you to land right in the middle of the Arc-damned relic site. Wow. Great. You're surrounded by pedestals bearing approximately 52 Icosahedrons of 13 varying colors, the topmost side of each emblazoned with an "I". Your landing has scared away a large clump of resting Abra, though it managed to attract a few curious Togepi and Espurr.

Your GM is Seth. He will be RPing Mook(low level) Grimm without rolls to familiarize the team with working with a GM until your official battle. The combat system will not be implemented in these first two threads. Please begin by RPing out your landing strategy!

Have fun, and happy landing!

Okay. Uh. Sure, she knew about Launch day, but she didn't think they were seriously going to toss them all into the air!! Yeah, sure, she had wings, so it wasn't gonna be too bad to land...she hoped. The little bug blinked quietly at the headmistress and her eccentric assistant as they'd explained what was to happen. So...first person she'd met was going to be her partner? That would have been nice! Part of her hoped it was that one shark boy, simply so they could talk about his teeth some more. Or even another faunus! Honestly, part of her didn't think she could really deal with a human for four years...Okay. Okay, maybe Nicky or Akio, but...she didn't know, they'd been the only ones that didn't prove themselves to be huge jerks, and even then, she was kind of leery at them.

And suddenly, there was screaming, yelping, equipment clanging, and machines working, and Jillian jumped, staring straight ahead as the line in front of her had been launched high into the sky one by one. Needless to say it caused her to deflate somewhat. That....that was pretty uh...fast. She'd been so engrossed in the line ahead of her, that the push from the launch platform had scared her outright, the little bug being one of the ones to let out a loud scream as she was tossed into the air.

Fuck. Oh, fuck, fuck, fuck. No, she was going too fast! Oh, Mew, she couldn't use her wings at this speed, the wind would pull them right out! Rip them to shreds! In the seconds of her ascent, the blonde's mind raced, thinking of something...anything to slow her down enough to allow her to fall safely to the ground. Nothing. Nothing at all. Not Darla, not dust, not--

Wait. Dust.

Didn't....didn't Pop say something about dust? Yes? Yes, he did? He said something about it...slowing things down? Could it slow her down? Oh shit, she hoped. The little bug moved quickly, nearly dropping Darla into the trees below as she fumbled to press the release switch on the hammer's dust loader to snatch the dust trapped inside and throwing a glyph down mid-air as she'd descended.

The blonde made contact with the glyph, and she could feel herself slow down ad she'd run into it, but it had been none too pleasant, feeling much like her face colliding with an oversized sandbag. The shock caused her glyph to break, but she wasted no time in setting another, and another, repeating the cycle about twice more until she'd been slow enough to begin beating her wings without problem.

Though, she'd fallen so fast that distance had been completely disregarded in her thoughts of slowing down. After sailing through the final glyph, Jillian had been about two seconds before she collided roughly with the ground, letting out a loud yelp as she'd flopped back up into the air, skipping across the terrain like a rock over water until she'd finally somersaulted into a sit in front of...oh. Looked like she landed here where Ms. Diantha said she needed to be.

She gave a pump of her fist into the air before the vibrava let out a groan, coallapsing onto her side with a weak laugh. "I wanna go again~" For now, though, she'd wait for someone to come and find her. She needed a nap.

How far could the launchers throw them? Were they balanced to put more force in if someone weighed more? Klaus kept himself pumped and ready on the machinery as he stood in line as they'd been instructed. He was doing it! He was going to be a hunter starting today! Well, hunter in training was a better word for it, but it was still step number one. To be launched through the air. His chartreuse eyes flicked down to the metal and back to the Winding Woods as people started to get launched. Would it throw him far enough? He was pretty heavy with muscle, but beyond that there was his obnoxiously weighted combat boots.

A loud scream got his attention before he had too much of chance to think on how the launching pads worked. Then a few more launches went without a hitch, yelps and noises littered them here and there. Klaus swallowed hard at the person next to him got sent flying too. It was his turn. The southerner figured he was a big strong man and wouldn't make a sound as he got spiraled up across the woods, but a cross of swears and a scream came from him as he found himself flying across the earth below. He didn't realize how tensed up he was until he squeezed open an eye and tried to relax his body.

Okay, so how would he land? His mama said... Damn what had she said? Klaus's eye shot back and forth, trying to think. Right! Trees! She said to use his spurs to swing around them and slow himself down enough to take the blow to the ground. Perfect! The brick wall looked at the trees the whisked by below him. He flipped himself around in the air, his spurs rotating around, ready to snatch anything close enough.

However, the convenience of trees dissipated leaving just earth below. Klaus' face dropped a bit and his none too fast mind started to crank out a new plan. He aimed the spurs toward the ground and flipped them to spring harshly as soon as his feet almost collided with the ground. A blow that would have probably made a few bones break, not helpful. Instead he launched off of the earth with a spin and back to the air. A shock traveled through his body from the contact but it wasn't anything the big tough man couldn't handle.

He repeated the process a few more times before he caught on the ground and rolled across the earth and slammed into one of the pedestals that littered the clearing. Klaus huffed out a few swears and got to his feet, taking a look at where he landed. Wait... wasn't this where they were supposed to land? The cowboy's face lit up as he talked to himself, "Yeah! Good job me, ya did it already. Natural hunter."

He gave a quick scan to the surroundings. So there was the pedestals, that's great. He was supposed to grab one wasn't he? Well he should have a partner before doing that, that was supposed to happen first, right? He hummed to himself a bit before the sight of the lesser grimm made him flinch slightly. Okay there was shit there. He held the punch pistol as ready and slowly back away from them and continued to look around before a form on the ground caught his eyes.

"Shit, they ain't dead are they?" Klaus said to himself in a worried, hushed manner before he crept closer to downed Jill. He gave a nudge to her before he crouched down and talked quietly, eyes moving between her and the grimm nearby, "Hey, hey miss, ya'll alive? Or hurt? Or somethin'?"

She hadn't even taken the grimm around into account when she'd laid down. In fact, she didn't even see them, too busy focusing on the ambiance of the forest to even think of wanting to get up and defend herself. She needed to take a breath, and the sounds of the forest, coupled with the sun just...felt nice. She'd begun dozing quite quickly. It was a good thing that she hadn't been alone too long, or the Grimm around would definitely have taken advantage of the fact that the little blonde was not taking this seriously enough.

She'd roused easily from the nudge, however. Eyes snapped open, and the girl looked up at the human above her, blinking several times before she'd given a yelp and jumped practically two feet away from him. "Yeep--! I...I wasn't sleepin', I swear! I was just...uh..." Her eyes darted about the clearing, and suddenly she'd remembered what she had been doing. She wasn't in class right now. She was doing the, uh...the launch day thing, right? Oh yeah.... "I was uh...I was waitin' for my partner to come along! And. Hum..." She'd pointed a finger at the big man. "That seems to be...you? I mean...I dunno. Yes? I think so. Unless yer partner's around here somewhere? I think the things you guys are supposed to grab are on the things behind me. I think?" She didn't know. The headmistress said relic site, and well...this place definitely looked...relic-y.

She wasn't dead was she? He didn't want to find someone dead. They only just launched, someone wasn't already out of the running to be a hunter were they? Luckily the little faunus woke quickly from.. whatever she was doing on the ground to keep Klaus from thinking too long. He flinched a tad as she sprung up and away like a jackrabbit on speed. The southerner straightened up as she rambled on, blinking a bit. She was an interesting little thing. And he did mean little, she was so short compared to him, then again not many people in the cowboy's life were taller than him.

"Nah I ain't got a partner yet, I got flung into one'a them pedestal things with those relics we need to bring back." He said as he motioned to the relics, those were it weren't they? He hoped it wasn't some decoy or they'd look pretty silly!

"I'm Klaus, by th'way! Full name's Logan Klaus Mason, ya'll can just stick with Klaus though. Seems like we're gonna be roped together for the next four years! Guess we got off kinda easy bein' right by the endin' point, huh?" Klaus rambled on himself before he paused and looked almost shocked at himself, "Oh I'm so sorry miss, I didn' even get yer name! How rude'a me."

OH! So, he didn't have a partner? That was good to know, she supposed. Uh. Maybe? He seemed to be a big guy...really big. Because, sure there weren't that many people shorter than her, but...well, he was, for lack of a better descriptor, fucking huge. Her hand fell back into her lap as he spoke, and she'd been both still and silent while he spoke. The only indication that she hadn't suddenly frozen in place was the smallest tilt of her head.

...She liked his voice.

A small grin broke on the girl's face as she quickly descended into quiet giggles. Even her wings had given a quick flutter in her amusement. "Well, it's nice ta meetcha, pard'ner!" She gave back, doing her best to imitate the other teen's accent. "Name's Jillian! What's you--Oh, wait, you already gave me yours, didn't you?" She'd stared at him for a moment. "Klaus! Hi, Klaus!" She chirped, as if suddenly reminding herself. "My mum and pop call me Jilly Bean sometimes, but most everyone else calls me Jill, though!" The girl got to her feet, picking up her hammer that she'd been dozing next to and resting the handle on her shoulder. "Since we're here, let's pick up those relics as partners, eh, partner?" At least her new partner seemed nice. Maybe she could deal with this one for four years?

Seemed like he found himself a partner! A cute little thing, but she seemed tough still. At least with that giant weapon of her's. Klaus couldn't help but chuckle as she tried to imitate his accent, not in a mocking way or anything that would make his blood boil. It was charming to the cowboy instead. So it was Jill, hm? She was obviously a faunus. Not something that bothered the southerner, but he was curious what kind she was. A bug of some type? He'd met a couple bugs before, she seemed a little different though.

"Well, pleasure t'meetcha miss Jillian." He gave a nod of his head before he looked over to the relics that they luckily landed by. They should pick one together, that was a great idea! Start of the next four years together, may as well do it as a team! Well, half a team, they'd get the other half sometime soon. "Yeah! Let's do it partner." Klaus said with an obvious excitement to his voice. The heavily metal ridden boots made each of his steps even more dense than normal as he walked himself over to the alter type things that each... relic thing sat on.

"Which one should we pick?" Klaus murmured as he looked them over in thought.

Miss. He called her 'Miss'. That made her really really happy. She'd remembered that her parents had told her to call all of their customers 'Sir' or 'Ma'am' when on the clock...She wasn't too fond of the formalities, but part of her was just tickled to not have to pay a human such politeness and he'd just...done it because. It was a nice feeling. It was a really nice feeling.

The little vibrava was quick to follow right behind Klaus, peeking around him to stare at all of the 'relics' that they were supposed to have picked up. "They just look like dice..." She murmured, blinking. With a beat of her wings, Jillian had been hanging almost horizontally above the pedestals, rubbing her chin in thought. There were some plastic ones that were normal colors, some made of metal, and some that looked like they'd been carved from jewels of some kind. But...they still looked like dice. Jillian made a face. "I dunno what they all mean! So....Eenie meenie miney....mo! Let's go with these!"

She'd pointed to one of the metallic pairs (Platinum, if she'd remembered right) and snatched them from their pedestal to give one to her partner. "We both take one, right?"

"Dice..?" Klaus asked, more to himself than to his newly found partner. Those weren't dice! Dice had six sides, these had.. well a few more than six. They were made out of all sorts of things though, some looked durable, others he was afraid to pick up for fear he'd somehow break it. The southerner was sure that breaking any of them would be bad, some poor team wouldn't get paired up then!

He looked to the vibrava as she fluttered her way up and looked them over herself. So she could use those wings of hers. Some were just for show with some faunus, at least he'd seen a few that had useless wings. If she could fly a little, it was good to keep in mind. Klaus walked toward to pair that she pointed out, metallic ones, they looks somewhat durable which Klaus was happy to see.

"Those look as good as any of the other ones" He said before he tapped his chin, "I think we take em both... That's what they said.. didn' they?" He was having a hard time remembering what they were supposed to exactly do with the relics. Klaus gave a shrug and grabbed one of the dice. He tossed it up in the air and caught it as he looked around the area that was supposed to be a struggle to reach. Launch turned out to be quite a bit easier than he thought it'd be.

"Mhmm!" She answered, puffing her chest out as if it'd been something to be proud of. "20-sided dice! Pa and I would play lots of tabletop games when I was younger, so that's how I know!" She wondered if Klaus played many tabletop games...or games at all. Did he like movies? Was he terribly big on reading? Obviously, these weren't things that she should have been thinking about during such a crucial time as this, but she couldn't help it! They were going to be partners for the next four years, after all. She needed to learn about him!

"Yeah, I think so? I mean," The little bug zoomed over to the other side of the altar where an identical pair of dice sat. "There's another pair here! And they said we'd get put with another two people for a team, right? Or...huh, that's what I heard, anyway." Jillian quickly pocketed her die and grabbed her hammer once again and touching back down on the ground next to her partner with a grin. "Okay! We've got our dice, we're partners, let's get outta here!" She'd turned on her heel and pointed enthusiastically away from the altar, whether it may have been the exit or not, she didn't know, but it was okay! They'd find it! ...Eventually.
