Ancient Hut

This area is a clearing surrounded by a particularly thick forest. It a fairly large structure with one entrance to a roof that looks above the trees. The structure is made of stone and is in an absolutely miserable state, with moss covering the walls in the most inopportune places. If you weren't afraid of the moss breaking on you, you could attempt to climb the structure from the outside, but... It's ill advised.

The inside of the structure is even more miserable than the outside, although one particular thing sticks out. The giant, black, armored gothic church bell that hangs from the ceiling. Perhaps it's not hanging so much as it's floating? Either way, it is a Bronzong Grimm, and it will certainly attempt to fuck your shit up if you walk under it. If you take notice of this entity, tread carefully and lightly.

The outside of the hut seems to be peppered with Ralts grimm looking for a way in. Maybe they've lost something? Either way, it's a very peculiar building, with the roof offering a look see over the entire forest.

The GM for this thread is Brandon. GM's will RP mook (weak) Grimm during combat, to get players accustomed to working with a GM.The combat system will not be used for these first two threads.

"You talk like Grimm have to conform to the bipedal rules of human and faunus. Oh no, they're far more interesting. They can take the form of almost anything." Tilly craned her neck forward and squinted at the bell, hand that was over her face tugging urgently at her hair. Come on, don't be shy. After a pause, the girl gave a disgruntled whine and grasped the faunus' wrist instead, dragging her a few meters across to get a better view.

Tilly glared holes into bell, willing it to show it's red eyes again, foot tapping in frustration against the ground. She swore she saw it move! She wasn't crazy and she didn't want the faunus to have a bad opinion of her already. Tilly let go of the girl and took a few stubborn steps forward, cupping her hands around her mouth.

"HEY GRIMM" she bellowed towards the centre of the church. Her voice echoed through the stonework of the hut, reverbing through every inch of the enclosure. When her voice died down, the ground began to vibrate and small rocks dislodged from the walls.

Tilly took a couple of cowering steps backwards, looking to Marianne with wide eyes like a guilty kitten. As she held Chandragupta I close to her chest, the crystals awoke, forming into it's attacking form and it’s centre shone brightly. That was her parents' way of telling her it was time to fight.

Now more than ever Marianne’s lack of formal combat school training was apparent given the fact that she couldn’t tell species of Grimm apart…that or this girl was nuttier than a fruitcake and was going to accuse every inanimate object of being a Grimm from here to the relic site.

“I never said bipedal I said they were personalspacepersonalspace!” Marianne hissed, dragging heels as the smaller girl tugged her forward. “Okay, we are going to need to have a little chit-chat about your what the ever-loving hell do you think you’re doing?!

Calling for Grimm seemed to be a bad idea, even if the ancient bell thing was clearly…not…

“The world continues to disappoint me,” Marianne sighed, stepping back and drawing her weapons as the weapon on Matilda’s hip began to react violently. “Well congratulations, you got what you want…”

GONG. GONG. GONG

The sound of a horrid church bell resounds through the hut and through the forest, the black mass hanging from the ceiling beginning to shake slowly, the noise echoing throughout the room. It was being called, this was the moment. With a violent shake, the grimm tore itself from the ceiling, large red eyes inscribed on its steel armored surface opening, staring at the two girls below it. The entire hut began to shake with psychic energy as the Grimm seemed to be preparing something.

The visitors.

They were food.

Several pieces of the relatively destroyed hut in the surrounding area shattered, and some of the larger ones were lifted into the air and tossed at the duo standing near the entrance.

Tilly's eyes widened, unable to distinguish the emotions interweaving with the hit of adrenaline that arose from the Grimm's awakening. Fear? Excitement? Nervousness? Most likely a bit of everything. She wanted to stand in one spot and observe what the Grimm was going to do but an extreme sense of duty which seemed to enter her blood stream from her right hand and wrap around her entire body.

Honour. Family. Survival.

Tilly felt her body rip to the side to avoid the anvil of stone hurtling towards her which skidded across the ground and smashed into one of the larger walls. "I told you," she yelled into the convulsing arena, words most likely drowned away with the booming roars of the bell Grimm. Tilly took off at a sprint towards the nearest wall that wasn't crumbling and jumped, pushing off the vertical stonework, outstretching Chandragupta I to lock onto the edge of the second storey and swung herself around.

Feet planted on the raised flooring, the paragon dashed around the perimeter, water beginning to glisten on her skin and leaving wet bootprints as she ran. Her vision was locked onto the Grimm, speeding around a corner, dodging debris and crumbling rock. When she got as close to the black bell as possible, she vaulted with a small grunt and reeled her mace back, hoping to land a powerful blow to the back of its head or, er, crown.

As far as bad days went, Marianne could think of only one or two worse ones than this.

She had no idea that that inanimate creature was a Grimm and now she was unsure of what she was even fighting. This was stupid...stupid! Back in Virbank she knew what threats looked like (typically human men in various suits or body armor) but here...it was messier. She longed for the simplicity of simply sinking a crew of drug runners or extortion artists to the bottom of the bay.

Marianne brought her swords up, slicing a stone in half as it rose off the ground. How was she even supposed to fight a bell for the love of Mew?! What was it made of?! What kinds of Dust worked on it?! Was it weak enough that she could cut it up with her swords!?

She was surprised to see that the stuttering girl had no qualms about rushing into battle like a maniac, climbing up to the second floor and charging the thing with wild abandon. This was...unexpected to say the least but Marianne was not about to be outdone by a human.

"Congratulations," Marianne said, whipping a dart over a stone rafter and tugging herself up in a smooth flick of her wrist. The Bell looked bigger once she stood on it's level but Marianne figured that it was nothing a little Toxic Dust couldn't accomplish. Charging her blades with inky purple toxin from the purple crystals in the hilt, she spun forward, weapons spinning in a wicked arc that...appeared to have no effect on it.

"Why isn't this working?!" Marianne grunted more to herself than to the girl, swinging blindly at the bell as she saw Matilda bring her mace down on the Grimm's head.

Oh...piss

... Was that a gnat?
The large bell turned its body in the air to stare at the girl who was asaulting it with... Toxic energy? The loud gongs through the room almost seemed to resemble chortling. It was laughing at Marianne, in a way. The bell shook and glowed with psychic energy as it began to slowly uproot the very ground Marianne was standing on, before...

CRACK

Tilly's strike hit the Bronzong on the side of its head, crown? Top armor plating and caused a horrible sonic disturbance. The gonging rang loudly and violently throughout the entire hut, almost as if the creature itself was wailing from the pain. The ceiling started cracking and the sonic boom from the impact blew out one of the side walls.

The Ralts from outside slowly found their way into the first floor, trying to find their way around the rubble. They had found their way in, and they were unsure what to do now.
At least until they spotted the two girls launching an attack on the Grimm trying not to fall from the sky.

Intruders.

Horrible.
Terrible.
Heathen.

The Ralts line themselves up and prepare to attack, but nothing comes quite yet. It's almost as if they're deciding how to attack.

The Bronzong however, lets out another horrible wail in the sound of lovecraftian gonging, and once again attempts to uproot the ground under Marianne. The attempt is significantly weaker, but the ground under Marianne still trembles with psychic force.

The crystal clear resonance of the Grimm's steel body shook up through Chandragupta I and into her body, muscles temporarily seizing up from the intense physical ordeal. Peculiarly, Tilly's expression didn't accurately represent the tightness of her tendons and excruciating pain in her ears. Her eyes were wide and mouth wider into a giant smile. A look is pure euphoria.

Bravo. Magnificent! Encore!!!

Who knew that Grimm could have such an affect on a human. That it could make a sound so thundering that it was literally deafening. Now that was interesting! Even more so was it's effect on the environment. Sheer force of its wail completely destroyed one of the huge walls of the hut. "THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!" Tilly roared over the wibbly wobbly sound waves to Marianne before she was belatedly blown away by the same force that tore down the wall.

Come on muscles! she yelled in her mind, Round 2! The absolute bliss pulsing through her veins did well to help her ignore how physically hurt she was. Had the same thing happened in a practice arena on a dummy Grimm, she would have passed out. Why did fighting against this Grimm bring her so much joy? Her breath and thighs quavered with the intoxicating joy of not only being able to meet a Grimm but to face off against one. The respect she garnered for this bell Grimm overflowed in a maniacal cackling. More! MORE!!

Tilly backflipped before she hit the ground at the 45 degree agle, bending her legs to absorb the shock and launched forward. Her left hand smacked against the bottom of the handle, activating the Tide Dust stored within in. She whipped the mace sidewards, spinning around in a complicated heel-toe manoeuvre akin to an Olympian's hammer throw. Chandragupta I sung in an etheral high-pitched tone from the friction of water and air against crystal from the increasing momentum. On the forth rotation, Tilly released the mace and it flew through the air hopefully headed straight for the Grimm if she aimed correctly. Who knows, she may take out the adjacent wall of the hut instead.

The human blinked suddenly, hoping to the gods that the faunus girl was not anywhere near the bell Grimm if her mace collided with its intended target.

Was...was that thing laughing at her?!

Laughing at her?!

Laughing at her?!?!?!

Marianne's teeth clenched and jaw set as a horrible ringing noise nearly knocked her off her feet. She would have lost balance if every inch of her wasn't coiled in rage at the impudence of the creature guffawing at it in a hollow metallic voice.

She had come all this way against her will...and now these things had the gall to laugh at her like she was some kind of common monkey.

"Don't..." Marianne seethed, barely able to string a sentence together through her blind rage. "Don't...you...dare...laugh at me!"

Through pure chance, Marianne selected her fire crystals tucked into her belt and jammed them into the crossguard of her blades as she bore down on the monster. The earth beneath her feet shifted and Marianne jumped into the air, landing on top of the Grimm and driving her flaming weapons down into the creature's head.

She had no idea if it would work. Matilda was laughing at something (or just hooting like a maniac) as Marianne drove her weapons down again and again in blind fury. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a line of little monsters with a derisive laugh.

"Well if it isn't the congregation of the faithful?!" Marianne spat, adrenaline making her go a little giddy. "Come and witness the death of your false god you soft headed little-"

She was suddenly aware of Matilda's strange spinning and Marianne was suddenly aware of the fact that she was entirely too close to a giant resonating Grimm that was in all likelihood about to be struck again.

"Piss," Marianne spat, diving off the top of the Grimm and rolling hard on the ground, off the second floor and down to where the little mushroom headed monsters had congregated.

The hut was shaking. To say the hut was shaking was a grave understatement. The walls shook horribly, the bell grimm's wailing after being run through with firey blades causing another horrible burst of sound to explode from it's body. The tiny demonic psychics immediately stopped their 'conversation' and covered their ears. Even they couldn't handle the sheer noise that threatened to rip the hut in two.

Surely people outside the area could hear this.
Surely.

And if they couldn't, they were about to.

GOOOOOOOOOONG

Tilly's Mace embeded itself into the Bronzongs armor, sending a massive crack down its side as the sheer impact of the mace sent out yet another, even louder explosion of noise. This time it was the roof that went. The Bronzong lost the ability to levitate and fell to the ground with a mighty thud, along with several of the rocks from the ceiling that hadn't been thrown out of the hut by the sheer force of the soundwave explosion.

The two would be hearing ringing for a little bit, but it was safe to say that their primary threat was dead. The Bronzong quickly began dissolving into a lump of black mass, the Ralts congregating around where it died. They looked at the Bronzong, and then at the humans, and then at the spot where the Bronzong was.

They were no fools, attacking these two would surely amount to certain death. The Messiah they had been searching for had been vanquished, and for that. Even at the cost of their lives, the Ralts uniformly decided the intruders had to pay.

With a rhythmic demonic chanting, the Ralts picked up several of the shattered bits of rock around remains of the hut. They started spinning them and spinning them until there was something akin to a hurricane of rocks inside the destroyed building. They fully intended to close the tall pair inside the hurricane before squishing them entirely, but there were several locations where the rocks weren't so thick...

There was no way the bell Grimm could survive that. It came crashing down along with the stone hut and when Tillt felt herself rock back on the unstable flooring, she jumped from one falling ceiling stone to another, scrambling upwards to not get trapped and killed under the rubble.

And what goes up...

You guessed it. Tilly curled herself into a defensive ball and returned to earth with the rest of the stonework. As the dust began to settle, she felt herself roll down diagonal pieces of rock like she was in some giant pinball machine and eventually came to a stop by the flippers. Tilly cracked an eye and looked upwards. "Oh hi!" she greeted in a yell the faunus flipper and quickly got to her feet beside the taller woman, "Sorry, I can't hear a thing!"

Luckily she could still was was happening. And that was a giant spinning tornado of hut debris encircling and slowly enclosing on the area. Tilly cackled gleefully. Was that those tiny little mushroom Grimm doing that? Oh my gods, there were so many of them! Oh, this is precious. The human made an excited noise and reeled her hand back to...

Tilly's expression fell.

Her mace?

It was still in the center of the hut where she had left it. Was she going to have time to go and grab and and get out as the hurricane picked up more of the giant jagged stone blocks. Well, she was at least confident in her own special defence but she got the feeling Marianne wouldn't be as prepared to jump through a fire ring. Or psychic stone ring.

Tilly clasped her hands together and prayed. The canopy directly above split apart to shine a reverent beam of light onto the ground. From the fucking heavens. Varuna hear my plea. Please grant my friend the power to withstand this attack on us. I need her as she needs me. Allow me to share the semblance you have blessed upon me. Help her understand. As the foreign grace left her lips, the sun disappeared and clouds cracked with a thunderous vengeance. Heavy rainpour descended on the destroyed hut, covering everything in a few seconds. The ground, the broken walls, the Grimm, Tilly and Marianne. Some was pulled into the whipping hurricane.

Still there wasn't much time. Without an explanation, Tilly vaulted over a stone jutting out from the ground and started to bolt towards the center of the hut. She just needed to reach Chandragupta I and get out of there....
