Ancient Hut

This area is a clearing surrounded by a particularly thick forest. It a fairly large structure with one entrance to a roof that looks above the trees. The structure is made of stone and is in an absolutely miserable state, with moss covering the walls in the most inopportune places. If you weren't afraid of the moss breaking on you, you could attempt to climb the structure from the outside, but... It's ill advised.

The inside of the structure is even more miserable than the outside, although one particular thing sticks out. The giant, black, armored gothic church bell that hangs from the ceiling. Perhaps it's not hanging so much as it's floating? Either way, it is a Bronzong Grimm, and it will certainly attempt to fuck your shit up if you walk under it. If you take notice of this entity, tread carefully and lightly.

The outside of the hut seems to be peppered with Ralts grimm looking for a way in. Maybe they've lost something? Either way, it's a very peculiar building, with the roof offering a look see over the entire forest.

The GM for this thread is Brandon. GM's will RP mook (weak) Grimm during combat, to get players accustomed to working with a GM.The combat system will not be used for these first two threads.

She could barely hear a thing as the retched creature's death knell had left her nearly deaf. Matilda was saying something to her but she couldn't make out the words over the ringing in her ears and the dull roar of what apparently looked like a rock hurricane...

A...rock...hurricane...

And on top of that it was raining as well...perfect.

Marianne wobbled to her feet, taking slow, deliberate steps towards the edge of the ring of rocks where it looked the thinnest. She took a deep breath through gritted teeth as her body lit up, pale blue scales covering her in translucent armor that caught the faint sun streaming through the rain cloud. She charged forward, arms and legs shielding her face and torso as she plunged through the circle of rocks. A few managed to scratch her arms and legs through her Semblance but it didn't matter; she had escaped the circle enough to grab the nearest Grimm around its scrawny little throat and lift it off the ground.

"Congratulations!" Marianne hissed, eyes glittering and teeth bared in a savage grin as she looked at the monster. "You had one chance to avenge your fake as shit god and you FUCKED IT AAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL UP!"

Marianne slammed the creature's face into the tornado of rock and rubble, holding it down as the rows and rows of spinning stones did their work on the creature's head.

Urgent grunts and whines escaped from Tilly's throat, without Chandragupta I her ways of protecting herself significantly lessened. All she had was her own bulkiness and that would not be enough against the psychic vortex. She heard a scream in the faunus' voice garbled through the hurricane and a moment later a gruesome decapitated Grimm head went skidding past her boots. The human gave a quick glance between her weapon and the head and bounded towards the center of the hut, clamping onto the crystal handle of her mace and tore it from the ground.

Just like that it felt as if her parents were there with her, sharing the burden. Gods, that rain felt amazing too. What a tremendous day. She would need to start writing a diary about all the fun times she was going to have with Grimm. Speaking of, she wanted that Grimm head as a souvenir.

Tilly scampered over to where the Grimm head had come to a stop, bent down as she ran to pick it up and sped into a sprint. The stones were flying around the ring faster than she could adjust her eyes to. She was going to have to risk it. Tilly held the Grimm head into her stomach and charged forward, a yell of anticipation building in her throat. When she hit her highest speed, she launched forward, outstretching Chandragupta I and smashed into the inside of the hurricane.

The human broke the surface, the flat of a large stone throwing her way off course and she was sent flinging sidewards, crashing into the lined up Grimm like a bowling ball. She rolled a few metres and came to a stop, hand that was holding the Grimm opening and closing. Where was her souvenir? "Aw, man," she sighed dejectedly and pushed Chandragupta I into the ground to push herself up. Black plasma, dirt and moss stained the once beautiful white leather of her armour. Red blood dripped a gash near her elbow, large cuts in her thighs and from her hairline.

Tilly glanced up to Marianne, panting and gave an enthusiastic smile. The faunus girl seemed like she was beginning to enjoy herself too.

Hearing the sound of the recovering Grimm she had wiped out, the human swung her mace around and grasped it tightly. It was time for clean up duty and Tilly was rostered on.

There were so many things to account for. Their god was dead. It was raining, and the rain felt... Uncomfortable.
The finned two legged monstrosity had shouted something at the top of her lungs and ground one of their compatriots into dust.

The other was flattened by a mace, and the strength of the psychic hurricane was weakening. The little Ralts had only one option. This was their final hour.

Their last stand. They knew they would die here, but they'd certainly try to take one of the tall ones with them.

With every fiber of their psychic might, they changed the velocity of the hurricane. The water and wind whipped around the arena, a bit slower than before as two of the Ralts were missing from their formation. The rocks realigned themselves and begun to throw themselves at both Marianne and Tilly in a wall of rubble.

Against her better inclinations, Marianne was beginning to feel a savage thrill creep up her spine and burst out of her lips in the form of a weird, adrenaline addled snarling laugh as the Grimm's head melted away by their own rock twister.

She had to admit it was fun to brutalize living things and not get locked up for it...

Marianne shot a small nod at the other girl as apparently she smeared the other Grimm all over her armor. She glanced up in time to see a hail of stones streaking at her. She grit her teeth, summoned the reserves of her Semblance to pull her armor up again as she crossed her blades defensively in front of her body.

She lashed out at the bigger pieces in a swirling storm of swordplay, slicing them in half and let the smaller pebbles ricochet off her Multiscale as she stepped through the storm as best she could, rocks buffeting her and drawing blood where they struck.

However there was an advantage swords had over ranged weapons that many gunners and archers and pint sized Grimm failed to realize...swords never ran out of ammo. And eventually, they simply had no more rocks to throw

"Nicely done boys," Marianne said, weakly reaching into her coat pocket and fishing out a cigarillo which she lit off the fiery aura of her channeled sword. "But you forgot the first rule of the jungle...the bigger fish eat the little ones."

In an arc of flame and steel, Marianne brought her swords down on one of the Grimm.

That was the first time Tilly clearly saw the faunus' girl's semblance being used. Her skin went scaly like a dragon. Clearly some kind of protective shell. Woah, that's really cool, she thought in quiet awe. Kicking her brain back on track and feeling the rain becoming lighter, the paragon side stepped to dodge the barrage of rocks, getting forced further back from the leftover Grimm.

The other girl was really strong to slice through rock like that. Tilly continued to dance backwards, towards the wall that had blown out from the bell Grimm, occasionally glancing over her shoulder to see the stones rip into the forest. "Come on," Tilly growled, waiting for the rocky ammo to run out. Eventually it did. The human dashed forward, jumping over any debris and when she reached the faunus, she skidded to a stop.

Bar the rubble and rain, the place was empty.

"Did you kill them all?" she asked with a crestfallen expression before giving a small pout, "You could have at least left me one."

Now that the war was over, fatigue overcame Tilly and she stumbled back, collapsing onto a piece of rubble coincidentally shaped like a coffin. She closed her eyes and let the last of the rain wash over her face. Her chest rose and fell with heavy breaths. A lazy hand reached up and waved the faunus off. "You can go find your perfect pair now," the paragon advised, pulling her legs onto the stone and curling into the foetal position. "Night, er, whatever your name is."

Sleep now~

"Sorry I didn't realize that Grimm were like curly fries to you," Marianne snorted, taking a long draw off her cigar and blowing a thin stream of smoke through her nostrils and cracking her neck. "Next time I'll be sure to leave you-"

Marianne trailed off as the bizarre girl curled up in a ball in the middle of the floor. She blinked heavily at her back, trying to process what happened. The girl had...torn through a mile of Grimm like they were rotting pumpkins...split a giant one's head open...and now wanted a nap?

Marianne chomped on her cigar agitatedly as she weighed her options. Here it was: a carte blanche invitation to go seek other partnerships with someone she might find a little more agreeable. She could run off to find Cassidy or someone who might make for a better match for her...

On the other hand...

Whatever this girl was, she was strong and apparently knew how to maul her Grimm. Marianne's embarrassing display with the bell displayed her limited experience and knowledge with Grimm...and despite the fact that she was bruised and bleeding from a dozen different tiny wounds on her body, she still had to complete her objective.

And loath as she was to admit it...she may have needed this girl's help.

Which was fine! Her mother made use of human underlings from time to time why couldn't she? It wasn't as though she was getting married to the girl or anything...no this was purely...business.

And so long as the girl knew where to draw the line...she supposed they could do business together...

"Hey," Marianne said, prodding the girl in the back with her boot. "You think they don't have ways to enforce their little eye contact rule? As much as I'd have preferred to find someone who...shared my point of view, it can't be helped right now. That airhead Sycamore probably knows what happened here already and the doddering oaf is going to hold us to it whether we like it or not."

"So unless you'd like to study Grimm from the inside," Marianne said, sheathing her weapons and taking one last, long drag on her cigar before snuffing it out on a damp cobblestone beneath her feet. "We need to get moving."

Tilly sighed with all the indignance of a small child, making it as obvious as possible that the Faunus was really being a thorn in her side. "Yeah but you said you didn't want to partner with me," she recalled in confusion, rolling off the side of the stone and pushing herself into a sleepy hunch, "And you seem like the kind of person who always gets what she wants."

Chandragupta I gave one last gleam of light before collapsing into its travel form. Tilly stowed it on her back and trotted up beside the faunus. Her partner? Maybe. "Did you say I could study Grimm from the inside out because I want to do that. How do I do that?"

The human looked up the the canopy with curiosity. It was actually quite beautiful. She wished she brought her camera to take some pictures for posterity. "Also don't you think it's kinda rude to have not told me your name yet? I think I at least deserve that respect."

Whatever the Faunus' response was, Tilly remained quiet, giving herself a chance to recharge her energy. She kept a couple paces behind the other, occasionally doing a hop run when she lagged behind too far. Her eyes darted around the dark trunks of the forest, hoping to catch a red glimmer of Grimm eyes. Either they weren't residing in this part of the forest or they had fled from the noise which had been made earlier.

Tilly quickened her pace to catch up to the Faunus, looking over with wide eyes and combing fingers through her damp hair, "Hey, where are we going?" she asked innocently.

"Yes but that was before you turned a Grimm into so much scrap metal," Marianne said, pinching the bridge of her nose and sighing through it. What, did the girl want a signed apology? Some grovelling? She was pushing her luck with this pouting routine and Marianne had half a mind to abandon her to whatever Grimm were in the area.

"And you're right; I always get what I want," Marianne said, teeth flashing a little in a wide grin. "And I want you to get your perky little ass up off the ground so we can get out of this swampy hellhole and back to civilization before I run out of smokes or lose a limb...I don't know which is worse at this point but either way it's not going to be a pretty sight for you, lass, that much is certain."

Marianne headed for what appeared to be a section of wall weakened by the Grimm's attack, placing her boot against the loose stones and kicking it down in a small avalanche of rubble. She stepped out into the forest, eyes blinking hard against the sunlight as she began hacking a path through the dense underbrush.

"Marianne de Lacroix," Marianne said after a moment, not glancing back at the girl as she foraged ahead. "And all we need to do is grab a hold of one of those relics...once we manage that we can complete this godawful endeavor-"

And maybe find a pair of Faunus they could attach themselves to.

Foraging ahead, Marianne followed a well worn path through the forest, heading for what appeared to be the relic site through the trees in the distance...
