Tumblers and pins rotated in the lock with a loud Ka-chk! The door creaked open on its slightly crooked hinges as the young Porygon pushed it open, revealing the room they were meant to live in for the next couple of years. It was... A little substandard, to be kind. The room reeked of stale alcohol, emanating most fiercely from ugly dark splotches in the carpet. Shelves lay splintered and broken on the ground, while the remnants of their brackets still hung from the walls bare and coldly industrial. To its credit, at least, it did come with a small extra the rest of the rooms seemed to lack: A small, electric table fan, lying abandoned and forgotten on one of the nightstands. It hadn't even been a few hundred cycles since opening the door before Katrina rushed across the room towards the fan, her arms outstretched in front of her. She scooped the little fan up into her arms, and started petting it like a small animal. "An ABANDONED APPLIANCE..." the little girl muttered. Her head slowly turned towards the rest of her team standing in the doorway, and her deep blue eyes dilated and began to waver in a way that suggested some stylized, cartoony form of puppy dog eyes. "KATRINA... feels empathy for this poor machine. KATRINA would like to request keeping her and naming her... FANNY, if that is alright." |

Marianne barely paid attention to her new leader (the thought itself gave her stomach turn) as she barged into the room, trolley of luggage behind her as she threw her swords on one of the beds in the corner. "Claimed," Marianne grunted, wincing as a breeze aggravated the dozens of tiny cuts on her arms and neck from the Grimm's flying leaf attack. She needed a shower and enough aspirin to kill a small boar but first she needed to get clean. She shucked her outer coat, boots, and pants, throwing her undershirt shirt on the bed along with the rest of her clothes. She tugged a towel out of a duffel bag before dropping it on the bed with a poignant glare to her trailing teammates. "If that bag isn't exactly where I put it when I get back this room is going to be an even bigger wreck than it already is," Marianne said, meeting each one of her teammates (oh Mew, this was her team?!) eyes before slipping into the bathroom, slamming the door behind her. |

The entrance way flung open just as the door from the bathroom slammed shut. "Wait.. up.. Mari.. anne!" Tilly panted, weighed down by a towering hiking backpack, a large sleepover bags over each arm, a cardboard box pressed against her side and a giant wheelie luggage dragging behind while kicking one in front of her like dribbling a soccer ball. She collapsed next to the bunk with Marianne's familiar looking sword on it, letting all the bags drop to the floor around her. The girl dropped onto one of them like a bean bag and lolled her head over to where the young Faunus girl was playing with a decrepit table fan. "Aw, how did you know I wanted the top bunk?!" Tilly breathed excitedly as her eyes snapped back to the beds, pushing herself up and patting the top mattress as if that simply action claimed it for her. Stepping over her luggage fort, she hissed at the pain in her side and waddled to the bottom bunk, picking up the sword on the bed. "WOAH, this is heavy!" she commented to the breeze, letting it fall back on the bed haphazardly. She proceeded to examine all of Marianne's bags with temporary enthusiasm before discarding them uncaringly. The paragon tip-toed over to the Porygon, holding her hands behind her back with feigned modesty, "Whatcha gonna do with that?" she inquired curiously, reaching out to pat the electric device. Jen was the last one in, giving Marianne a raised eyebrow before she slammed the door. "Take a chill pill, sheesh," she muttered, making sure her voice wouldn't carry into the bathroom. She shook her head and dropped her bag next to the remaining bunk and smiled at Katrina. "Fanny? You don't think a... a bit more time thinking of a name would be better?" Jen could already see the confusion as to when her team started talking regularly about a fanny. She didn't feel like explaining that one. "And which bunk do you want? I don't care either way." Katrina had grown on her quickly, but Jen wasn't so sure about the other two. Marianne had a temper as short as the fan in Kat's hands, and Tilly was... Tilly. If there was a better description of the girl, Jen wasn't sure what it was. It would do for now. |

Two of the adults crowded around Katrina, while the third made a very loud and angry exit through the bathroom door. When she craned her neck up to speak to them, she felt so very small in comparison. Her blocky fingers subconsciously tightened, and brought her fan close to her chest. "F-FANNY is KATRINA'S new PET." She tried to keep an even, confident tone in her voice, so the adults wouldn't look down on her, but... A slight stutter betrayed her nervousness. Katrina wasn't used to talking to her elders in such a bold way. "A-and KATRINA spent SEVERAL HUNDRED CYCLES deciding upon FANNY'S name. KATRINA kindly requests you respect KATRINA'S NAMING SCHEMA. ...I-if that is alright..." Hugging her new metallic friend like a teddy bear, Katrina scampered off and snatched up the remaining lower bunk. "KATRINA will stay here. KATRINA does not wish for FANNY to fall, should she accidentally roll out of bed." |

Tilly pouted when the child began to fizzle and smoke in errors, backing away with Fanny to her bunk. "Hey!" she called with some disappointment as her teammate scurried away, "I think it's a great name!" The girl sunk into the floor and crawled over to Kat's new bed, plonking her chin on the side of the mattress and grinning up to the child. "Can you talk to it? What kind of things does Fanny like? What's its favourite colour? Do they prefer the toilet paper over or under? These are important questions to ask a new best friend!" The copper skinned girl swished her butt back and forth optimistically, hoping that Katrina would respond more positively. The dirtied white leather of her battle uniform brushed over her strong calves. She glanced to Jen and gave a quick flick of her head toward the Faunus, gesturing for the blonde to be a little more compassionate. |

Oh, she hadn't meant it like that... Jen suppressed a sigh and did her best to give Kat a smile. "Of course, I'm sorry, I guess I didn't think long enough about my response. It's a... fitting name, and you are welcome to the lower bunk." This team was going to drain her, wasn't it? "Guess we should... unpack or..." Jen looked around the room. "...Clean up, maybe. This place is kind of a mess. What happened to it? Shouldn't the staff be keeping up repairs or something? Especially with the school being closed for an extra amount of time, you'd think the dorms would be in better shape." The blonde put her hands on her hips and regarded the room with a judging stare. "This could take some work..." |

Katrina stared down at Tilly with inquisitive eyes. Her actions were... wildly inconsistent with Katrina's profile of normal adult behavior, and the young girl was unsure how to respond. "FANS are... not on the same tier of sentience as HUMANS or FAUNUS, PARTNER TILLY." Katrina spoke slowly and gently to her elder teammate. There was still a twinge of confusion and apprehension in her voice, but at the same time she tried to adopt a tone of voice similar to how people explain to kids Santa Claus doesn't exist. It was entirely possible, after all, that the human genuinely did not know. "Similarly to how a PET GRIMM, for example, would not have strong enough sense of comprehension to favor certain colors or... physical orientations of personal hygene products... FANNY too is too primitive for such thoughts. A-ah! But, KATRINA loves FANNY regardless, however! Do I not, FANNY?" The redhead worriedly stroked the fan and offered it gentle whispers of "Shhh, shhh, it is all right," reassuring the appliance that she meant no offense. |

Marianne exited the bathroom, towel wrapped around her hair and dressed in a tank top and shorts to see her team leader stroking an appliance and whispering sweet nothings into its nonexistent ear. Her jaw clenched as she looked down (literally looked down) on the child whose orders she was supposed to follow. What this girl was doing in a school for hunters? She barely looked like she could handle a stiff breeze let alone a full blown Grimm. What the idiot headmaster was thinking when he put this...child in charge she would never know. Not that the other two were shining paragons of leadership....one either wanted to bottle them or bash them over the head and the other had made all the impression of a piece of dried toast. Not exactly inspiring leadership material. Marianne padded over to her mattress, unzipping her bag and flipping the mattress up with one hand. With her other hand, she hoisted the bag up and dumped the contents of the bag out on the boxspring, spreading the contents around evenly before stepping aside to reveal a layer of Unovan cash in mixed bill sizes resting underneath the mattress. "There is exactly two thousand, five hundred, and fifty-six dollars under this mattress," Marianne said, glancing around at her team. "And there are only four people at this school who know about it so if so much as a cent goes missing I know who to start with." She dropped the mattress back down, flopping down on it and sighing into her pillow |
