Sabine ignored the brain matter and giblets bouncing off her, dark water staining her outfit in thick ink-like lashes. Water lapped over her feet but she held her ground, keeping the arrow pointed at the hunter's eye. They raised their blade which caused the quail's jaw to lock up, jet black eyes flitting between the hunter's face and the glow from the blade. That had been an uncalculated decision by her. One she hoped not to regret. "First thing's first, boy," Sabine growled, "If you dare compare me to one of those pig-nosed Kalosians again, I will not hesitate to put an arrow through your skull." The quail lowered her weapon slowly, letting the tension on her bowstring go slack. "Secondly, we are not partners. Another has promised their services to me. One whom doesn't need to compensate skill with," she turned her nose up at the bisected blade, "Lasers." Sabine held both bow and arrow in one hand and used the other to brush her stained blonde hair out of her eyes. "Farewell, Mitch." She turned and walked directly away from him, carefully watching him in the reflection of a small metal panel on her bow, holding four screws into the riser. If he made any sudden movements, she would need to act fast. |

Promised their services to her? Was she royalty or something? She spoke with the kind of air that reeked of the civilians at Saffron, and as such Mitch was incredibly used to such language. Until she started walking away. Mitch rotated the blade around the handle once, the end stop causing the blade to collapse into it's normal state. Compensation? Skill? Where did that factor into anything? Mitch shook their head as the girl walked away, resolving to follow protocol and follow the girl as instructed. Mitch stuffed one of their hands in their pocket, the non-gloved one, and walked after her. "Noted, on the Kalosian thing. And I'm coming with you anyway. Launch Day protocol says so. You're already my partner, whether you or I like it or not." Mitch said matter of factly. They decided not to touch the conversational topic about 'compensation'. A Semblance was a semblance, and what could actual skill have to do with any of this? Was the hunter in question more skilled then Mitch? Mitch would have to investigate that at some point. "Your name?" Mitch asked, calling out to the girl with her back turned to them. |

A shiver was sent up Sabine's spine as the voice stayed at a constant pace behind her. "Fuck 'launch day protocol'. " The quail spun around, red feather flicking indignantly, "You really give a shit about those old fools' stupid protocols? Has it ever occurred to you how insane this all is? 'We're going to fire you all into the forest and the first person you lock eyes with is who you're going to spend the next four years with'?! No. I shall be the only one who decides my future." Sabine paused to control her rising anger, slowly exhaling through her nose. "Here. I'm going to prove it to you." She looked him straight in the eyes as hers went a pale milky white. Hopefully a pocket of the future would foretell the swift parting of ways of the two hunters. Instead she was met with a vision of a colossal Grimm spurting fire across the target lake now up in flames like a post-apocalyptic artist's rendition. The quail immediately pulled herself from the vision and reached her arm over Mitch's chest aiming to pull both of them down into the lake. Sabine twisted to squint up as a flamethrower ripped across the surface of the water. When she couldn't hold her breath any longer, she swam to the top, spitting out some of the disgusting liquid. "Sabine," she panted, "My name... is Sabine." Edited by Sabine and Tilly, Jun 3 2015, 10:02 PM.

Mitch quirked an eyebrow at the girl, who seemed to be incredibly willing to just throw orders to the wind, and operate completely and totally on her own itenerary. Where they were from, that was tantamount to suicide. Mitch opened their mouth to speak but closed them as soon as the girls eyes went milk white. Mitch crossed their arms in quiet observation as their face remained in a deep seated frown. When the girl appeared to come to from her strange trance, Mitch opened their mouth to speak again but was forcibly pulled into the water. That is if you want to call it water. The strange and vile liquid rushed into Mitch's mouth and nearly down their throat as they scrambled to the surface, getting there shortly after the girl did. Coughing and sputtering, in an attempt to get the vile fluid out of their system, Mitch noticed that the air was... Hot. And that one of the nearby branches was most definitely on fire. Not just the branch, either. But an entire tree. Mitch turned back to the girl, still coughing the water out of their lungs, "Thank you. Sabine." Mitch forced out in between coughs, the vile fit stopping rather abruptly as something that looked eeriely like seaweed came jumping out of their throat into the water to the side of them. "How... Did you see that coming?" Mitch asked, drawing their weapon and eyeballing the sky, "You can answer that on the move, if you wish. It is unsafe to stay here and also unsafe to split up with something like that running around." Mitch swam their way to shore before wishing they could dump the water out of their boots. That was going to make travel absolute shit. |

Sabine felt an indignant heat rise to her cheeks. "You're welc--" she began before cutting herself off, pretending to scope around the burning lake instead. Where had that come from? More pressing, where was the giant grimm? She swallowed as Mitch asked her how she predicted the attack, not sure how to answer and torn at whether it was wise to tell them at all. As they swam to shore, she nocked, drew and loosed another Gale imbuded arrow to create a large wave, taking her to land. Sabine tumbled ungracefully onto the hard sand and rocks, weighting herself into the ground to not be washed back into the lake with the artificial tide. She slowly caught her breath, brushing bits off carcass of her skin, hair and clothes. When she stood, she cracked her neck and idly nocked a carbon arrow. "Foresight," she answered honestly, "My semblance. Allows me to glance into the future." Sabine double checked her surroundings, "Stay alert, the sooner I kill it, the sooner I can be on my way." |

Flames ripped through the edge of the treeline, arcing out across the lake in a bright arc before dissipating as a large, freakish beast stepped through the clearing. It's hideously deformed face was pulled into a wide grin as its claws stamped forward on the ground, crackling with heat and singing the plants as it passed. Its arms ended in hollow, gaping holes that spewed tongues of flame as it walked, flames on its head and neck burning a path through the dense vegetation as it passed. It grinned a horrible grimace at the hunters in the lake, raising an arm to torrent another blast of fire at the pair- TSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER A horrible screech split the air as the Magmortar turned around only to be kicked so hard in the stomach the imprint of a clawed foot could be seen clearly extruding from its back. It sailed over the lake, flying high in the air and landing on the far shore with a sickening crunch as its flaming pursuer leapt after it in a ball of fire. The tall, lanky bird beast flipped through the air and landed foot first onto the poor Magmortar's stomach before raining a frenzy of frantic blows down on its head, completely ignoring the Hunters behind it... |

Her semblance was certainly something to make note of. Mitch armed themselves quietly as they observed the hulking ball of fire with what looked like canons fixed onto the end of its arms. That is not something Mitch felt like fighting. Then even more suddenly, a sharp screech rippled over the lake and the creature was kicked in the stomach and sent careening off to the other shore, being pummeled to death by a smaller, birdlike fighting creature. Also made of fire. That was even worse. Mitch turned to Sabine with trace amounts of worry in their eyes, "I know you said something about killing it. But in this instant, I really, really don't think that's a good idea. We should really run, at least look for backup." |

The chilling sound of the gigantic Grimm scared Sabine so badly her bladder abandoned its duties for a second. The quail exhaled through her nose in frustration before turning to stare in awe at the mammoth fire Grimms (yes, two) fighting each other over the burning wasteland of the lake. Well that was... legitimately the most terrifying thing she had ever laid witness to in her life. "You know," Sabine looked at Mitch with a petrified smile, jerking her bow to collapse it. She lifted one side of her hakama and placed the weapon back on its harness, "Running sounds like a judicious suggestion." With that the quail dug the bottoms of her geta into the rocks and took off towards... anywhere but here. Edited by Sabine and Tilly, Jun 4 2015, 07:18 AM.

Mitch exhaled sharply through their nose in mild frustration as it seemed all the wind and fire had been taken out of the other huntress. They couldn't blame her, as those... Monsters weren't anything they wanted to fight either, but she collapsed her bow and took off. Mitch had to wonder if this was another attempt to get away from them. Mitch stuck their blade back in the holster and then followed after the faunus, declining to ask her to wait up. That really would be a stupid idea. |
