Great Tree

Trees are nice, huh? Like. Wow! Trees are so nice! Especially when they were big enough to look like they needed an entire island to themselves and a bunch of tiny, sentient shrubs stewarding it. You know the one I'm talking about. It's that big. Probably bigger.

Our intrepid pair lands near the foot of this tree, and if they are to look upward, they could see large, black and white clou--Oh...no, those are grimm. The clouds are Grimm. Fuck. As well, you can see small, demonic flying rodents giving off electric charges and hopping from branch to branch. If Grimm weren't sticklers for the theme of being some kind of Eldritch abomination, the clouds(birds? they look like birds.) and lights would be quite pretty! But nature doesn't really work that way, now does it?

Make sure not to kick the tree, students. Wouldn't want angry floof birds and demonic zap rats all over you, now would you?

Your GM is Coons. He will be RPing Mook(low level) Grimm without rolls to familiarize the team with working with a GM until your official battle. The combat system will not be implemented in these first two threads. Please begin by RPing out your landing strategy!

Have fun, and happy landing!

Vixen and Drake

Drake had thought he prepared himself for Launch Day. However, a number of things had happened before he had even stepped onto the landing platform and was launched sky high.

He had lost sight of Vixen, for once. Secondly, he hadn't entirely guessed at the literal meaning of "Launch Day" as much as he thought he did. And thirdly, he had forgotten to discuss a strategy with Vixen about finding each-other in this forest before he had been separated from her. Now, the Espeon faunus found himself tumbling heels-over-ears in the violent wind, at the mercy of the currents and having to trust his sense of balance over anything else.

Drake gripped his hook, flicking his wrist as he found himself once again doing a somersault, and the hook extended to its full length of ten feet. He hissed as the winds continued to push and pull him, the power from the launch pad sending him sailing over acres of forest before he finally was able to right himself, and not a moment too soon, because the arc of his launch was quickly turning into a descent.

A natural sense of balance blessed Drake at this very moment as he found himself getting extremely close to a really big tree that would hurt like hell to hit. He snarled, twisting and flinging his hook out to grab onto anything nearby-- instead, that hook narrowly missed a Grimm and sent Drake yelping as he went spiraling toward the ground.

Ten feet before he hit the spongy ground, Drake flipped, and stuck the landing on his feet and one palm spread on the grass, his hook hitting the ground beside him, the flail churning up soil. Drake straightened, pulled his clothes tighter around himself, and picked up the hook, brushing dirt off his palm. Now... he had to find Vixen. Somehow.

Marina was ready.

Prayers completed just half an hour before they lined up along the plates, Sycamore's speech already researched and memorized. Launch Day wasn't hard to find, when your fellow disciples had already suffered through it. Marina's digits glided over the individual crystals embedded into her golden hoop, some semblance of comfort coming from the smooth surfaces coming together at just barely sharp angles. Her fingers hovered over the bright yellow gem, staring straight ahead. The golden double-ring flickered into existence just as Sycamore announced the launch, and Marina shot right on through it.

The glyph crackled around Marina as she slid through it and launched her forward, soaring ahead of the pack and deep into the Winding Woods. Her target was clear cut, and simple. The Great Tree was dead ahead, standing miles above the rest of the forest. The supposed site of the final scripture, Marina just HAD to see it for herself! She grinned, giddy as a schoolgirl-well, she was one-as the megalithic plant zoomed closer.

Marina's fingers glided down her ring to the deep violet, almost magenta crystal. A line of glyphs curved down to the ground, their natural pull dragging her in a downward arc towards the ground. She began interspersing them with muddy grey, her momentum grinding down. A bright blue glyph caught her landing, leaving the girl hovering for a split second before she dispersed it.

The disciple stared up at the tree, trying her damnedest not to grin like an idiot as she strode up, feeling the cool bark of the tree as the grimm above ignored her. She dropped to one knee, sighing contentedly as she prepared to apparently hear the rough and tumble yelp of someone tumbling on the dirt behind her. She turned around, one eyebrow raised as she watched Drake dust himself off. Who the hell was this asshole-oh fuck.

It's her partner now. Welp. Better start making good first impressions. Marina trotted over, smiling softly. "Hey there! I am Marina Denset, and I suppose we're partners now, no?"

Vixen and Drake

Oh, no.

Drake knew the rules. Out of the twins, he was the one who had been reading the rulebook throughout their stay, and had everything damn near committed to memory. He had intended to keep his head down and listen for the sounds of his sister yipping away somewhere, probably caught in one of these monster trees.

Instead, the human who had landed without nary a scratch and a disbursement of blue energy approached Drake, and the Espeon faunus backed up, shielding his eyes instinctively and unable to bite back a low growl as he looked away, his tail starting to lash. Damn it all. He had one goal and that was to protect his sister...

There was still a shot.

"Yeah okay great we're partners now," Drake said, his Orre accent coming in thick before he hooked his weapon to a sash around his back, and then reached forward to try to grab Marina's arm. "Now come with me so I can find my sister, mn?"

He glanced up at the sky, squinting and shuddering when he realized that dozens of Grimm coated the air above them. Thank the rain it was morning, he should be able to see almost any attack coming.

Marina frowned, saddened that her first reaction was met with at least some degree of hostility. Had she scowled at him unintentionally? Damn, she must have. Need to work on keeping the face calm when Grimm are around.

Sadness flipped right into shock as the boy just... grabbed her arm? Something about his sister. This was... unexpected, but appreciated. Having a brother-sister pair on the team would be fantastic! They were already acquainted with one another, which significantly reduced the beginning of team awkward psuedo-friendship. Furthermore, they would probably be an excellent combat match! This was simply wondrous!

"Alright then, where do you think-" Marina was cut off by the shudder, eyes darting up to the clouds above. It was teeming with grimm. Not entirely surprising. It was the middle of a forest, a Grimm populated one at that. She just shrugged though, smiling and putting the index of her free hand to her lips.

"If we keep quiet, we should be able to avoid disturbing them." Marina explained, voice suddenly dropped to a murmur. "Some Grimm tend to just want to keep to themselves, and won't bother us unless we make a pest of ourselves. Quite simple! Now then... where did you see your sister launch? I presume you have an idea of where to look."

Vixen and Drake

Just because it was morning didn't mean that Drake's powers were going to give him all the precognition of a god. With so many Grimm hovering above them, Drake wouldn't be able to predict all of their attacks, and that was what made the Espeon faunus wary. He still had a grip on Marina's arm, still staring above them with several different mixes of apprehension. His tail flicked as the other spoke.

"Staying quiet might not do us any good," Drake grumbled. "I've dealt with Grimm for a long time, and they will attack without cause if they so much as see us...." He slipped Sun Ray free from the holder on his back, turning the hook within his hand so the flail was out. As for where Vixen had landed...

Drake's ears pinned and his tail lashed once more. "I don't know," Drake said. "I lost sight of her, but... She's a blue ringed Umbreon faunus. She'll be avoiding the sunlight as much as she can..." He looked around, and then picked a direction and started to walk. "This way. C'mon."
