The launch caused Logan's stomach to lurch, and and he was surprised he didn't lose his breakfast right then and there. It certainly felt like it wanted to come out, but he managed to grit his teeth and keep it back. He had to land, and quick. But how? He hadn't even thought of that. Who would've planned for falling through the air like this? Whatever, landing. How to do it? There had to be a safe way to slow his fall, what did he have? A sword. No, that wouldn't help much. A shield? He could probably bounce off a few branches, but would that break his arm? Hookshot. Of course. He could hit a tree and apply pressure to the winch, not enough to yank his arm off, but enough to hopefully slow his descent so he wouldn't break every bone in his body when he hit the ground. Just needed to level out a little... start to fall... Keep the breakfast in his stomach... As Logan started to descend he noticed the strange stone construct quickly approaching and decided he did not want to collide with that at all. He picked a nearby tree, and, with another idea quickly coming to mind, fired his hookshot, heard it thunk home, slammed down on the winch, and then activated his semblance. Just before the chain began to pull back and retract, Logan's whole body turned to steel, and prevented any bones from breaking or limbs from severing. The chain retracted and right before Logan hit the tree, he deactivated his semblance and released the hookshot. He managed to use his shield to hit the tree and land in a branch. "Great. Now I just have to get down," he muttered to himself before carefully making his way down the branches, noticing the Grimm inside the stone construct, and hoping they wouldn't notice him on his way down. |

Jonas had two options; fall or jump. As the automated kickstand launched Jonas into the air, he kicked off with his armored boots, letting the spring-heel propel him further as he shot out ahead of the pack, chin tucked to his chest as he spiraled through the sky, over the trees and towards the far side of the area. His eyes scanned the horizon for Jason, wondering if his decision to pair with his brother was even a good idea at this point. As enthusiastic as Jason had been, something told Jonas that Jason wasn't going to be bringing his a-game for this. The last thing he wanted was to be held back at this point in his career... Jonas' hands fumbled for the rope on his belt as the ground approached faster and faster but before he could get it out, it snagged on a rope as he whipped past, tearing off his belt as he plummeted towards the ground, slowed but not stopped as a bunch of black and white shapes raced towards him. Biting his lip, Jonas flipped in mid air, pushing his boots out as the rocky shapes appeared before him. He landed in the center of the stone piece with a thundering crack, shattering it in a cloud of rock and dust as he tumbled along the ground, grunting and swearing before rolling to a stop a few dozen yards away from the stone formation. Glancing at the creatures, Jonas drew his revolver and aimed it sky, firing three shots in quick succession. Perhaps he needed his brother's help after all... |

All he had to do was get to the ground, and figure out where Cherise had landed. Wherever that was. The forest couldn't be that big, right? All that changed when another student came flying down and smashed into the middle of the stone construct. Which was also right in the middle of all those Grimm. "Just go find your sister," Logan told himself as he kept climbing down. "Just go find her, just go find her, just go help, gotta go help, ah crap..." By the time he hit the ground the dust was beginning to settle from the student's impact and the Grimm were definitely getting interested. There were a fair few, so he couldn't just leave them all alone. Besides, teams were of four, right? At least he thought he'd heard that somewhere. So he could still be on the same team as Cherise at least! That's what Logan told himself as he drew his sword, hefted his shield, and charged towards the student. |

Whatever these things were, they were taking their sweet time in turning around. What with they way he had come smashing in like a wrecking ball, Jonas expected to be set on and chewed to pieces (they must have had mouths somewhere). He gripped the hilt of his pistol with an awkward hand, wishing he was facing something he could easily strike or throw. The fact that they were all floating around up out of reach only increased Jonas' unease as his hand traced from one to another to another, waiting for one of them to break off and- The sound of crashing branches drew his attention away from the floating Grimm over to a strange figure who was charging at him, sword drawn. Jonas tried to steady himself as he took aim and fired a shot at the ground a few yards in front of the charging stranger. The academy hadn't said anything about human adversaries in the woods but seeing as how this was an organization comfortable flinging people into hostile monster territory, Jonas wouldn't put it past them. "That's far enough!" Jonas called, aiming his pistol back at the stranger with his sword drawn. "Ain't exactly polite to come rushin' up on someone with your weapon drawn, now is it?" |

"Woah!" As soon as he saw the weapon raised, Logan skidded to a stop and held up his shield. "W-What?" That's when Logan realized none of the nearby Grimm were moving on them. Yet. "Wait! W-Wait!" He stammered, peeking over his shield. "I-I landed nearby, I thought I'd come help, but..." He looked up at the nearest Grimm. "What are they doing...?" |

Disturbance. There was a disturbance. Crashing. Breaking. Destruction. Where was the peace that was suddenly gone? Where was the quiet? This had happened before, hadn't it? It had. Did they remember? No. Not all of them. One or two, maybe...but not all of them. They let food into the forest. Unwilling food, obviously. Why did humans allow this? Did they care? Not particularly. Contrary to the white haired boy's thought, the Grimm had definitely noticed him. The avian watchers leveled their gazes on the pair of humans. The bony, demonic eyes had been the first to move. They'd...been dancing. Or at least, getting as jiggy as anything without proper limbs and the ability to levitate could get, floating and encircling a space in the middle of the outcropping of stones in several layered rings. In the center was some kind of light, bright and...unsettling. What had they been doing, indeed..? It wasn't something that the boys would be able to pay attention to, as the small, craggy grimm had finally turned their attention on the intruders, hollow growls echoing about in their heads. Oh...now they wanted to attack.... |

"Well shit I think they're here to welcome us to Kalos!" Jonas said, turning his gun to face the craggy monster. "Pass out some fliers, organize some school spirit rallies, show us around the-what the fuck do you think they're doing shoot them in the face!" Jonas' weapon jerked as it loosed a round a the craggy looking Grimm's head. "Or is the sword and shield act the best you can do?!" |

What were these things? Grimm, obviously, but what kind? They were incredibly strange, and Logan was sure he'd never seen anything like them before. He froze for a moment, taking in the now suddenly large number of targets. When Jonas' weapon fired, Logan flinched a little, and then scowled at his comment. He thought briefly about snapping back with a "no, all this is all I have" but he didn't bother. The floating... things... had definitely been doing something, and whatever it was probably wasn't good. The other guy already had a bead on the rock thing, so Logan aimed his shield at the nearest floaty eyeball thing and fired his hookshot, ready to yank it down to the earth where he could land a solid hit. |

Bang. One of the little grimm had gone down in the wake of a round being fired into its skull, the others' eerie growling growing to a screech as their comrade's corpse lay there still. If they hadn't been pissed off before, they certainly were now, stubby little legs and arms running and directing a small barrage of rocks at the faunus boy in retaliation. As for the dancing grimm, Logan's interference had his hookshot snatching is target down and away from the throng, causing the ring it was a part of to become unstable. And, as if it were a loose tire on an an axel, the particular ring he'd broken wobbled for a second before the grimm scattered in a number of directions. The grimm Logan had caught squirmed uselessly in its painful trap, a silent cry calling the scattered eyes in its formation to swarm the boy like so many mosquitoes before it was done in. The light above the rocks continued to grow as the grimm danced faster, rings stretching to accomodate the shape the light was beginning to take. Whatever they were doing, there was a good chance that it wasn't going to be good. |
