The History of Ancient Orre Orre is an ancient land which was founded by several different groups of faunus thousands of years ago. These faunus were able to tame the desert with their unique gifts and mold the landscape into fertile ground. By the time humans found themselves emigrating to the desert, the Orrean faunus had already created thriving kingdoms in the harsh landscape, and the humans were awestuck at the great gifts of these faunus. They began to idolize and worship the faunus in a god-like manner, and each of the provinces were soon associated with the original faunus who founded the desert. Toward the West, known as the Land of Death and Life, stood the kingdoms of the Umbreon and Espeon faunus. The only joint kingdom in the entire region of Orre, the Umbreon and Espeon faunus worked in tandem with each other, perfectly synchronized as both guardians and death-givers. The Espeon faunus protected their citizens in the day, and the Umbreon faunus hunted under the desert moon. Legends stated that the Umbreon and Espeon faunus would enter days of great power, and these days were regarded as sacred to the Orrean natives. Toward the East, where the rivers flowed, stood the kingdom of the Feraligatr faunus. These faunus were able to control the flow of the river itself, twisting the river through the harsh landscape, and even call rain from the skies. The kingdoms of the Feraligatr worshiped the water as much as they worshiped the faunus. Toward the North stood the Kingdom of the Volcarona faunus, idolized as being able to hold up the sun. Those who worshiped the Volcarona faunus earnestly believed that it was these faunus which kept the sun up during the day, and myth says that in the very heart of the kingdom, night was never known to fall. Toward the South stood the kingdom of the Silgyph faunus, revered for their ancient well of knowledge and power known as the Sigilisk. The closest thing to a deitic figure in all the kingdoms, this ancient monument allowed the Sigilyph shields unyielding and hearts unwavering. Some say that this was their true god and heaven all in one, where true warriors would rest forevermore. On the edges of the great dunes stood the kingdom of the Darmanitan. These faunus were regarded to be sleeping warriors-- the Darmanitan faunus were a fun-loving, relaxed sort until they were attacked, at which point the myths describe the faunus as changing forms and wrecking all who came near them. These faunus were celebrated with their dual aspect in mind, where some days were devoted to drinking, and others to hunting. Perhaps the most mysterious kingdom of them all, however, was one that appeared in the heart of the desert itself, and that became known as the kingdom of the Spiritomb faunus. Legend states that Spiritomb faunus were born from someone who began to meddle with the delicate state of life and death, creating abominations that were neither. Foreigners, devils, and demons the Spiritomb faunus were called. They were banned from all other kingdoms, condemned to perish in the middle of the desert. As the kingdoms of each faunus grew, as the humans continue their worship and idolization of the faunus, battles inevitably began to break out. Only the Espeon and Umbreon kingdoms ever seemed to hold a steady truce-- all the other kingdoms wielded their god-like status as a weapon, ordering humans to take down the “false gods” of neighboring kingdoms. Blood stained the sands and it seemed as if there could never be peace so long as the faunus were worshiped as gods. Only the Siglyph faunus never participated in these battles. These fights managed to drag themselves into the center of the desert, where the Spiritomb faunus resided… And the fights became a true war. The Spritiomb faunus attacked all who came near, and began to drive back the desert faunus to their kingdoms, until they were on their borders, wrecking havoc to all. The Siglyph faunus intervened for the sake of the other kingdoms. They fought to save the other gods, as the story goes. The war between the Spiritomb and Sigylph faunus claimed many lives as all the desert faunus tried to drive the Spiritomb faunus back, and ultimately, it broke the thriving desert kingdoms. There were not enough gods to worship, there were not enough faunus to keep traditions alive. All of their resources had been spent helping the Sigylph faunus, and soon, the kingdoms themselves began to perish. They say that Pureblood Orrean faunus, with their powers carved into the ruins that lay of their kingdoms, still exist to this day. That there is even a society out there which wants to bring back the days of old, where faunus were worshipped as gods. But these are just rumors, and much of this ancient history is lost in the sands of the unforgiving desert. Edited by Vixen and Drake, Jun 25 2015, 02:19 PM.
