"Love thy neighbor."
|
Celeste sat out in the courtyard, people watching. It was at least vaguely interesting how each different class acted as they progressed through the years. She had observed them for a while that day, attempting to identify each person she saw by class. That human boy was calm, and had a quiet resolve. Third year. That Skiploom faunus was unfocused, but carefree. He had one foot out the door already. Fourth year. That human girl-- nope she was a Hitmonchan from the looks of it-- strode around like she owned the fucking place. Hm. First or second year. And that girl... Well, she knew she was a first year. She recognized her instantly as Jamilla, the kind-hearted flower child she met during Tilly's knitting get-together. "Jammy! Got a sec?" She called out. "I'm just enjoying the view. The weather is so lovely out, I figured why the hell not." |

There was a somewhat uncomfortable look on Jamila's face for a moment, looking over her shoulder and holding close the small bucket she was planning on using later on the day. When she was certain no eyes were on her, a puff of breath came over her lips in relief. Things had been so tense the past couple of days, what not with all the fights. She hoped that the headmaster would say something of it... It couldn't be going unnoticed for so long, she was sure he was informed of it by now! Relaxing a tad bit, she walked forward before turning her head just a tad bit when she heard a familiar voice calling out her name. And it didn't take long before they fell on Celeste, a girl she had met during the knitting get together Tilly had arranged. It was a welcome face in the crowd, thankfully! A bright smile started blooming on the girl's face as she put up a hand, giving a light wave toward her as she started walking over. "Yes, is there anything I can help you with, Celeste?" she questioned curiously, tilting her head a bit before laughing when she heard what the other was doing. "Oh, I can't blame you! The weather is lovely indeed. I wouldn't mind sharing the loveliness with you!" she spoke warmly, giving a beaming smile. |

Celeste smiled as Jammy spoke. She had yet to meet anyone with such a sunny disposition in the school, and it was honestly a welcome relief, not to discredit anyone else whom she had met already. To her surprise, most of the people she can come into direct contact with, sans maybe the girl she was talking to on the scroll, were pretty friendly. She had come into good luck, avoiding most of the confrontational people. Preferrably, she could go for as long as possible without getting into a fist fight. That wasn't her thing, really. "Wonderful." She said with a smile. "I'm used to a colder climate, but climate... doesn't really affect me much. No matter what temperature it is outside, I'm still the same." She referenced to what she was wearing. "But the visuals are stunning. I can't wait to see what Kalosian winters are like. I've just been people watching. Trying to get used to all the new faces, you know?" |

"Really? Ah, I am used to the heat, in all honesty... Fortree has humid weather, but remaining in the shade of the trees often made it better for me. I can remember all the times I climbed in there together with Dusk while we went insect hunting!" she laughed, teeth showing before she placed herself down next to Celeste with a light nod. "I see. I wish I could have such a gift, not be bothered by whatever weather it is! What's your secret?" she joked with a smile before resting her arms on her knees and watching the students that walked past, giving a light nod. She knew exactly what the other meant. There were so many new faces to be found. Sometimes she felt a bit lost in the crowd. She missed her friend, but she was trying to make due. And she had met some great friends already! "I get you! Is it working any?" she asked with a sunny smile, tilting her head a bit curiously. |

"Aah, it's working... okay. I can kind of distinguish between the general attitudes of each class. It's a fascinating hierarchy. And I can imagine it gets very hot in Hoenn. I've never been. One day, I'd love to travel the regions of the world." She chuckled. "Say, you've mentioned Dusk a few times. Is he a good friend of yours? Man, I envy you for that. The only people I've got back at home is my parents and my brother, but we're an... unfortunately isolated bunch. It's been good to get out, make some real friends." Ah, her secret to her resistance weather. She smiled. "Ah, how do I remain unchanged by the weather? It's a strange genetic trait I share with all of my family. Maybe it's a trait to my type. Okay. Get ready. This is going to shock you." She lifted a gloved hand and placed it on Jamilla's forearm. Even through her gloves, she was incredibly cold to the touch. "I'm secretly a giant ice cube. I'm consistently at the same temperature, too, so weather changing doesn't really bother me too much. And, on the bright side, my pillow is always cool. I never have to flip it." Jamila listened quietly to the other, nodding every now and then with a curious look upon her face, chin resting in the palm of her hand and her tail resting lazily around her. When she commented on wanting to go to regions once, she could not help the beaming smile on her face. "I would love to guide you throughout Fortree! I know the place like the back of my hand!" she commented, putting her hand in front of her as a gesture with a light laugh. "It's such a beautiful place too, and the types of plants and flowers that grow there are amazing, not to mention the strong and sturdy trees!" she added proudly before practically glowing when the other mentioned Dusk. "Ah, that's my best friend! I've known him since I was a lil' girl. I fell out of a tree, on top of him. We ended up becoming the best of friends." she giggled. "He's the one that gave me this necklace." she stated, lightly resting her fingertips to the butterfly necklace around her neck. "He's the sweetest person ever! He can brighten anyone's day and can befriend absolutely anyone too!" she stated proudly, tipping up her chin. When Celeste explained to her why she remained so unchanged, the flower girl could not help the gasp that slipped over her lips when dark fingers touched cool skin. "Wow... That's amazing..! My skin doesn't work like that. When it's hot, I'm hot. When it's cold.. Well." she gave a light shrug before yelping in surprise when a prop of paper hit her cheek, causing her to jolt up a bit and look to the side, where three second years were laughing and nudging one another with a nod of the head towards the two. "Hey! What's a weed like you doing out there, aren't you supposed to be at the Pit beating up on humans?" sneered the oldest of the three, lips curving up in a cruel grin as Jamila pursed her lips once before turning her head away, instead trying to focus on Celeste. "S-so anyway... Are you going to the dance...?" She felt another prop hit the back of her head and remained still, lips turned into a thin line and her eyes falling to the grass slowly but surely. |

"Thanks. People give me weird looks for it sometimes, and it tends to start some strange rumors about me, but I think it's a neat..." She paused as the student started jeering and throwing things. Glancing back at them, she scanned their behavior. Haughty yet careless. Second years, she'd bet her life on it. Or really stupid third years. Still, she couldn't get involved. It was dangerous. When Jammy went on like nothing happened, or at least tried to, Celeste snapped back into her normal public persona. Pulling herself back together, she nodded. "... Y-yes indeed. I'm going with my partner Melissa--" Another wad hit the back of Jammy's head. She could see her spirits crumbling. Celeste's own lips pressed together as she considered the situation. How many times had Jammy been through this? She didn't even look surprised anymore. She just looked... sad. Weary. Celeste sighed. Those papers could have easily been thrown at her. This was the reason why she was... the way she was. "S-so... how about you...? Are you going...?" She smiled encouragingly, trying to take her mind off of the assholes in the back, trying desperately to cool the angry impulses she felt tugging at the back of her mind. |

Her lips slowly curved in a gentle smile when she was told the other would go with her team mate; Melissa. She didn't think she had met her before, it was a pity! She truly hoped she could meet and befriend a lot of people by the end of the four years! But by the looks of it.. The students jeering behind her made her smile falter just a tad bit, instead opting on gnawing quietly on her bottomlip for a moment. "I am going." she finally commented, causing a howling laughter from the girl that was with the other two, shooting Jamila a disgusted look. "Would you hear that, boys! The weed is going to the ball, what does she think, can she hide that horrid tail away for long enough that others don't trip over it?" she spoke with a smarmy smirk at the boy next to her, who laughed and nudged the other against the side. Jamila remained quiet for a moment, mind racing as to what she could say without having her friends being pulled into it. She tried to ignore the voices in the background, though it was kind of hard to do so... "I am going alone." "Now there's a shocker. I thought for sure she would bring some insects along with her." "Hey, you think I can hire her to clean my room?" "Eww, no don't ruin yourself like that, Joe." She felt the ache in her bottomlip, quickly stopping from pressing her teeth in it as she pushed herself up to her feet. "I-I should go, Celeste. I still have some things to do anyway." she finally spoke, forcing a smile on her face, though it cracked halfway and ended up looking more like she was at the verge of either screaming or crying. "Sorry.." |

Celeste gritted her teeth so hard she could break them off. This was crossing the line. This was crossing the line and walking ten miles past it. Didn't this shit get beaten out of them after their first year? She had seen it with the wavy haired brunette girl at the match between Jonas and Sabine but this was ridiculous. The three humans laughed at their own jokes and Jammy... Jammy didn't deserve this at all. God damn it, no. Now was not the time to think about her own family. The nasty looks. The scars. The picketing of-- "Wait." Celeste took hold of her friend again, this time less for a party trick. Her mind raced as she tried to think of something to say. Then, following a quick impulse, she took Jammy's arm and ran the faunus's hand gently straight into her own face. "Ow!" Celeste cried dramatically. "Oh, oh, Jammy! You hit me~!" Letting go of her friend, she placed a gloved hand on her forehead. "What violence! How deplorable! Oh dear, I've had a bad run in with a... with a... Faunus!" She gasped. "I have no choice but to whine about all of them for two straight years like a child." She winked at the flower faunus before eying the three humans behind her, waving her fingers on her head in a sickly sweet wave. |

Laughter rang in her eyes, laughter she tried to block out as she made her escape; or tried to being the better word for it. No sooner did she find Celeste's hand grasping her wrist, preventing her of rushing off. There was a somewhat desperate glint in her eyes as she looked back at Celeste, shaking her head lightly. She didn't want to cause trouble for Celeste too..! And then, before she could realize what happened, she felt her hand connecting with Celeste's face. And the other cry out dramatically. Her heart jumped for a sheer split second before she realized it was just a farce. She felt something bubble up from the pit of her stomach as she stared at Celeste, wide-eyed. Felt it breaking the surface and she heard someone laughing. But it wasn't them this time. No, this time it was them staring in confusion and irritation whilst she was the one laughing. Laughing until tears gathered in her eyes. And the girl that had been with the two other boys shot them a disgusted look, sticking her nose in the air when Celeste waved at them and stalking off unhappily, being followed closely by the two other students. Yet bright laughter filled the air still and the flower fairy rose a hand to wipe her eyes. She was beyond grateful for what Celeste had done. |
