You can work a steam engine into your next bus photo. Nickel Plate Road 765 will be coming through Pittsburgh next Monday August 20 on its way from Harrisburg to Conway Yard in Beaver County. As Far as what time, it could be pretty much anytime. You can track the progress of 765 at http://fortwaynerailroad.org/locate.html It will be on the Norfolk Southern main line through Greensburg, East Liberty, along the East Busway, through the PA RR Station downtown, across the Fort Wayne Railroad bridge and out through the Northside.

This was the article in today's Tribune-Review:

Steam Engine NKP 765 is scheduled to leave from Enola Yard near Harrisburg and head for Conway Yard at 6 AM Monday morning. There will be a service stop in Altoona where the locomotive will receive coal and water. I would estimate that it will reach Pittsburgh sometime in the afternoon. These times are subject to change though.

I missed it, too! I woulda loved seeing this in person. It looks similar like the one that they have in Strasburg Pa. A little different though. Anybody know more about these trains at Strasburg?

There are two collections of locomotives at Strasburg Pa. One is the Strasburg Railroad http://www.strasburgrailroad.com/ which runs steam trips and has several operable locomotives. The other being the The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania http://www.rrmuseumpa.org/
