These rules are mostly lifted from the MegamanX9 Forum... but they apply here as well.

Respect the status quo. This roleplay is set in the world of the Pokémon Video Game series, some time after the events of Black and White. Stay true to the storyline of the games. Avoid introducing ideas and concepts that conflict with the video game's canon. Don't try to constantly beat official characters, and if you use them, keep their personalities in line with the games. NOTHING ANIME/MANGA BASED!

Do not control characters made by other players. Don't try to dictate what the other players think or do. You can't control another person in real life, so don't try it in the roleplay.

No "godmoding". In other words, don't pretend your character is perfect or undefeatable. No matter how tough or skilled your character (and his/her team) is supposed to be, they can still be injured or, in more extreme circumstances, killed. Remember, even Ash and co. had their bad days.

Pokémon aren't made of cardboard. Even the weakest opponents may become a problem if treated lightly. Do you remember how difficult it is to train while playing Pokémon? It's the same principle. Making your character defeat numerous foes with ease may be considered a form of "godmoding".

Avoid one liners. Put effort on contributing to the roleplay when you post. You don't need to be doing something important all the time, but you should still try to convey some sense of progression.

Be descriptive. It's important to get the right idea across to the other players, especially in the details to avoid confusion. For example, "Garchomp fainted his opponent" is too vague. A more proper narrative would be: "Garchomp rushed forward, bringing it's powerful jaws down on it's opponent with a crunch attack!"

Respect grammar. Even if you don't have the best grades in school, you must have some notions of how to write. This isn't a chatroom; spelling and punctuation are important. Make sure that your posts are at least readable. Also, avoid using emotes/smilies to express emotions; describe them with words instead.

Use logic. Don't do something just for the sake of doing it. For example, don't introduce your character in a scene if there is no reason for your character to be there in the first place. Everything happens for a reason, even if said reason isn't discernible at first.

Post in the right section. Don't roleplay Unova events in Kanto, or Johto activities in Oblivia. We have these multiple areas for a reason, so make use of them. If you're not sure of where to post, feel free to ask.

Explain your absence. If you are in the middle of a scene and suddenly become unable to roleplay for a long period of time (e.g. vacation trip), try to remove your character(s) from the scene in an appropriate manner or give another player permission to control said character(s), so the roleplay can continue unhindered. Failure in abiding to this rule means that we hold no responsibility over what happens to your character(s). You have one week from the date of the last post to reply before the staff takes charge (two weeks on the case of major holidays, such as Christmas).

Do not post in script or chatroom format. Narrate the actions of your characters instead. A narrative is more appropriate since it better conveys the details of a scene, even in the shortest posts, adding depth to the roleplay. A chatroom requires you to reply quickly, but you can afford to think your posts more thoroughly in a forum, so put more effort into it.

You are not alone. This is a shared setting, which means that anything you do may affect the other players in some form. When you write a post, think about what is currently happening in that same area and the possibility of other players reacting to your posts. At the very least, wait for other players in the same area to reply once before posting again. In case your character is alone in the area, post accordingly to other thread activity. This isn't just your world, so make sure that your posts do not conflict with the timing of events in the RP. Remember, interaction is the core of role playing.

No Legendary Pokemon may be on your team. this deserves little explanation, but you are not allowed to have Legendary Pokemon on your team of 6... Legendary Pokemon are very powerful within the setting, and are meant to be kept free, however... befriending one of these mythic creatures and allowing it to aid you without capturing it does NOT go against this rule.

That should cover it all, although the rules above may be updated/changed if the situation calls for it. Feel free to post if you have any questions.
