Walking through the grass, Mihail sighed softly as he stretched. He had been sent to the Thunderous Fields in search for mareep, one of the higher-ups in the Mineral Ranch Guild having decided for him to be the one to do it since his parents owned a mareep ranch. Gazing up at the mountains before him, he held back a sigh. He wasn't sure if he would be able to find mareep on the Tonnerre Peaks, but he figured he would have to give it his best shot.

"This is pretty exciting, Sigurd. Our very first job as being members of a Guild~ Though, I kind of wish it wasn't something dealing with mareep. Ahh, well. Maybe we'll get lucky and find some kind of cool mareep or something. Though, I do kind of wonder what pokemon other then mareep can be found here, too..." Glancing down at the lillipup beside him, the teenager flashed a brief smile. He was feeling vaguely uneasy about it only being him and Sigurd there, feeling a slight loneliness as he walked.

"Pup." The golden-eyed lillipup nodded as it bounded beside him, the small pooch glancing up at him several times before settling down with a sigh.

Every so often, a distant boom of thunder or spark of lightening would cause the two companions to jump, startled by the frequency of the lightening. Mihail did recall that the mountains they were currently on did often times have the lightening going on. He didn't recall any rumors of anyone being injured while being on the mountain, human or pokemon.

"Rrfff..." Sigurd let out an unhappy whine, his tail tucking in between his back legs as they continued on moving. Mihail could tell that his long-time friend hated being there but was sticking by him, out of loyalty.

"Thank you, Sigurd. I'm not happy about being here, either, but a job is a job. When we get back, I'll treat you to some nice, tasty pokeblocks." Smiling at his friend, the youth stretched a bit, jumping when he saw a bolt of lightning hitting a spot that seemed to be several miles way from him and the lillipup. Sigurd shivered and pressed up more against his trainer, a anxious whine slipping out as he looked around nervously.

The two continued on walking, so far not seeing any pokemon, mareep or not. Thinking back to what he knew of mareep, Mihail knew that mareep would be shedding their wool about then, and began focusing on the ground, looking for any bits and pieces of wool that could be laying around.

Sigurd's ears perked up and he altered the way he was walking, heading to one side as he sniffed. He had his nose pressed to the ground when he jumped with a yip, pawing at his nose before sitting down and shaking his head.

"Sigurd? Are you okay?" Hurrying to his pup's side, Mihail knelt down before glancing where Sigurd's nose had been, noticing tell-tale fleece on the ground. He reached out and reached into the pouch at his waist, tugging out a pair of rubber gloves and donning them, gingerly picking up a piece of the fleece.

"Huh... Odd, this fleece is pink not white. Hm... But it definitely comes from a mareep, at least. Good work, Sigurd!" Petting his lillipup gently, he made sure that there wasn't any lasting effect from the latent static that had shocked Sigurd. Satisfied that Sigurd was fine, Mihail scooped up the pup, studying the direction that the fleece had been shed in.

"I think that we need to go that way, Sigurd." Walking carefully, Mihail looked for foot-prints, not doing particularly well at finding them since he had no training in tracking.

As time passed, Mihail began walking faster without thinking, feeling uncomfortable from the silence. He felt another stab of loneliness when Sigurd licked him, making him jump slightly.

"I'm okay, fella. Just a bit unused to how quiet it is out here, except for the thunder." Smiling reassuringly at the dog, Mihail refocused onto the ground ahead, freezing when he heard a faint bleat in the distance. Sigurd looked intently in that direction, his ears perked up. Moving quickly and as quietly as he could, the boy hurried in that direction, pausing when he saw that it was an entire herd of mareep, along with flaaffy and ampharos.

He knelt onto the ground, placing Sigurd down, studying each mareep with interest. He counted around 25 of them altogether and wondered a bit nervously how to mark the area he had found them at. He took out a notebook, again from the pouch at his hip, and hurriedly scribbled down what he had noticed.

Sigurd watched the electric sheep curiously, sitting down as he scanned the herd. He let out a soft woof, leaning against Mihail's leg.

"And, done. We're too far away to pick up any differences in how they look from one another, but it's better to stay our distance for now, I think." Settling down into a sitting position, Mihail debated on what to do. He felt like if he followed the herd around, he could possibly be able to figure out how they moved around and how long they stayed in one place at a time, guessing that it wasn't their year-around living area given where he had found the shed fleece.

Letting his gaze go out to the herd, he further wondered how to avoid them discovering him, knowing that they might not take kindly to finding him following them around and might zap him a few times. When a boom of thunder sounded he jumped reflexively, Sigurd jumping as well. It dawned on him that he also had to worry about the possibility of being hit by lightning as well, knowing that while currently there was no reported accidents or deaths in association with Tonnerre Peaks, there was a first time for everything.
