I was watching PTI(Pardon the interuption) when the stopped it and put the red sox A's game on. It is 1-0 Red sox, which made me mad as a yankees fan, anyways. Curt Schilling had a no hitter going into the bottom of the ninth, two gone.... up steps Shannon Stewart, base hit! lol, poor Schilling :p'

anyways, I hope he gives up a homer, if he does, game over :p

Curt* and Stewart* ^_~

Mike Mussina did the same thing two years ago. I was extremely pissed. He has two outs and two strikes. One more strike and he woulda had the no hitter.

I never watched a Cubs game where I actually paid attention to the announcers, so I can't comment on that. But I remember last summer when the Yankees played the White Sox. I was in Virginia on a vacation and those f'n guys were totally bias for the White Sox. They got under my skin so much. Plus, the White Sox came back with a walk off homerun against Mariano. Those guys were screaming and cheering like fucking children. It pissed me off badly. Hell, they were actually rooting against the Yankees, lmfao.

...Isn't that the point of each team having their own announcers? Why would each team hire their own set of objective announcers? That makes no sense at all. o_O

If you're going to be an announcer, at least act professional instead of acting like a 12 year old fan. PLus, I've watched other games from different announcers and they were no where near as bias as the White Sox ones. Hell, the Yankees have their own network and their announcers rarely favor the Yankees. Maybe it's because they've been around for awhile and are professional. (And recently, Joe Girardi and Paul O'Neil have been announcing and they never show biasness for NY.)

There should definitely be a slant towards your team.

The YES (Yankees) guys are very biased, I know that from experience watching them a few times. But they are comparable to any other team with personal commentators...

A national playoff game on Fox is a game that shouldn't have biased commentary.

Jim Katt and Michael Kay might be slightly bias, only because they announce the Yankees games all the time. But that doesn't mean they're in the booth cheering and screaming when A-Rod hits a walk off homerun. :lol

Vegeta, I am pretty sure this "cheering and screaming" you're referring to is just Hawk's catchphrase... Either that or your memories are incredibly skewed and over time your perception of a bias has been amplified by the time removed from the event happening. I watch God knows how many Sox games a season, and I've done so for every season Hawk and DJ have commentated, and I've never heard this "screaming and cheering" you're referring to.

EDIT: Actually, one occasion comes to mind: Buehrle's no hitter. Hawk cheered when the final out was made there.

I think biases (bia-sees, not sure about spelling) is.

tr.v. bi·ased or bi·assed, bi·as·ing or bi·as·sing, bi·as·es or bi·as·ses

1. To influence in a particular, typically unfair direction; prejudice.
2. To apply a small voltage to (a grid).

Biasses maybe is the one I want.

Ive never watched a white sox telecast, but I know that the Yankees have had a "HOLY COW" commentator (Seinfeld). And he was known for that expression much like DJ or whoever's catchphrases. I think that's fine for the home team fans watching the home team station *shrug*

Is it Rizzuto? I know he played, but I forget if he's the commentator.

I wish there was a way to find a clip of that game. I checked but found nothing. Anyways, I don't think I need to prove myself. I heard and saw what I explained so whatever.

I don't mind announcers getting excited or whatever, but these guys acted like total Yankees haters. Everytime NY did something good, their tone of voice was so calm and quiet but once the Sox did something, they were all energetic.

And yeah, that was Rizzuto. Bman knows his stuff, lol.

They're supposed to be fans of their team. Like I said, having objective commentators is useless because then they'd be interchangeable. Let's not ignore the fact that your story points more towards you being biased (you implied that the White Sox fans had many things to "scream and cheer" about, thus implying that the Yankees were pretty much getting their shit rocked). Obviously, you were in a bad mood and you'd see any excitement from Sox-aligned announcers to be irritating. That and my whole time theory brought up earlier. Considering I've watched hundreds of Sox games that Hawk and DJ have called and only had this experience once (and never under circumstances you described), scientifically, my points look more valid. Just sayin'.

How were they getting rocked when Mariano let up a walkoff homer in the last inning? They Yanks were winning, then lost in the end. I also remember if going beyond 9 innings, maybe around 12 or 13.

I remember that game too. It was in extra innings but I forget which inning it ended. It's my dream to be a Yankee play by play man. I practice a lot here at home. I try REALLY hard to show the same emotion when both teams hit homers or make great plays and not be biased during an ump's call. However, in the end, if you guys listened to me, you could figure out I was a Yankee fan. No problem, it's not like I want to work for ESPN. >.>

No offense but play by play has to be the easiest of all sports announcing job. Well, maybe golf tops it but that's about it. For that job, its not so much about keeping up (since the sport moves too slow) as it is having a good tv/radio voice.

And if you want fairly unbiased team announcers, watch Braves games on TBS. They rarely get fired up over anything and I don't even think they refer to the Braves as "we" or "us". Speaking of TBS, now that Time Warner has sold them, will their networks (TBS) still show their games?

Braves games on TBS have been getting cut back steadily over the last two or three seasons, it has nothing to do with the fact that they are or are not owned by Time Warner anymore. MLB is pushing for teams to be more regional, and for about 15 years, the Braves were the only team shown on national television on a regular basis, you see Braves fans all over the United States, because of this reason. Also, reruns of shows like Friends, and Everybody Loves Raymond (which is all TBS has become now) gets higher ratings than a baseball game in the middle of July.

TBS has struck a deal with MLB now, it will air regional baseball telecasts, like FOX or ESPN does. As well as a handful of Braves game each year. TBS will also televise the LDS playoff round this year, as well as the entire NL playoff's next season I think. Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn have signed on, to what capacity I do not know, but I know they will be on air. And I agree about Braves announcers not being biased. However, the new team of Joe Simpson and Jon Sciambi on the SportsSouth and FoxSports telecasts is a really good duo. But the Braves announce booth reads like this:
Chip Caray
Skip Caray
Joe Simpson
Ron Gant
Jon Sciambi
(Other guy here) I forget this one

You never know who you're going to get. However, I like mostly all of them, aside from Ron Gant, he just sounds so generic.
