I was thinking about how many different phases/styles I've gone through in the past, so I thought I'd bring the topic up here. How has your roleplaying style changed since you first began in PWA? Do you feel you've gotten significantly better? Does anyone feel that they've gotten worse? Anyway, my indulgent shit that will probably end up rather lengthy and utterly pathetic follows: Personally, when I first started, I was god awful... Thank God all evidence was destroyed in the ezBoard conflagration. Honestly, it was the type of stuff that I'm often guilty of making fun of in other members today... It was very bare-bones and often incredibly unrealistic (although pretty much all RPs were back then <_<). I was also like, the only one who did paragraphs back then. I refused to add color to my roleplays (and still do, outside of a few experimentations once in awhile about two years ago). I didn't bold or highlight my moves, nothing like that. I'd say the absolute pinnacle of this style was late 2002/2003, and shortly afterwards I did away with it. If you want an example, check the PojoCade main event in the HOF Matches forum.Early/mid 2003 I didn't really do much, so I don't really remember my style back then. Around the second half of 2003 I started delving way, way more into psychology (both in-ring psychology and the psychological aspects of the characters) in my roleplays. I probably got carried away a lot with it. I got somewhat more descriptive with my moves, but not overly detailed as I'd become later on. At the time, I had this mentality that I thought was "brilliant" for some reason: submissions get lots of detail, impact moves get moderate detail, flashy high-flying type moves get minimal detail, kinda to emulate the experience of watching the match. Unfortunately, that leads to lots of confusion while reading and makes the RP look pretty inconsistent. >_> The only example of this is really the Hajj match, again in HOF matches. It's a pretty decent sampling, though. I also conformed to the traditional "block" style at this point. Late 2004 up until my initial retirement was probably what most people consider my best stuff. I became very detailed in just about everything, including move descriptions. I became pretty indulgent in "poignant prose". In retrospect, though, it was pretty overboard most of the time. For the most part, though, I'm proud of what I did with this style; it's difficult for me to describe it. I started highlighting my moves in the same way I do not: underline for strikes, bold for maneuvers. There's tons of shit in the archives, though; my favorite selections would probably be me vs. Organon at Retaliation 2005 or the Forsworn 3-way at ED 2005. MY favorite style I ever did, ironically, only lasted two matches: my Johnny Heathen role-plays. This is going to sound retarded, and I don't know how to describe it, but I simply can't naturally write this way anymore. I could try and imitate it, I guess, but it'd be pretty shitty, I'm sure. I returned to my paragraph style with these (and actually colored my moves to try and maybe avert just a little suspicion), and I balanced detail as best as I ever have. Only had two matches this way, though, both against Showtime in early 2006. Now, my style is kind of a blend of everything, I guess. I've realized I don't need to rely on flowery language to write well, and in fact, I now believe that it can wreck my roleplays if I'm not careful to balance it. I've developed various different writing techniques to compensate for it that hopefully you don't notice (if you do, they're not working <_<) and I've continued my paragraph stylings after briefly flipping back and forth. I haven't really produced anything GREAT since returning, though. My best piece was probably either against Kalevala or this past week in the handicapped match. Fuck that was long. >_< Sorry... |

Recently I have bee experimenting with the Paragraph format. I find it easier to get my thoughts across in that format then Block style. Whenever I write I find it hard to keep writing for a certain amount of time, I usually stop for a period of time to think about the content before going on. I mainly used the First-person perspective early on but since my return I have been using a third-person perspective. I'm starting to find "He does this, that." a bit choppy for myself now. I think my longest RP was against Traze in 2004. Those were also some of my worst I think. |

I dislike all-bold, or all-ugly-color. I can live with the block style as long as you only do it in PWA, and keep it to like 1000 words. Sometimes it seems almost appropriate to use the huge paragraph, if all the action happens in the same "act" of your RP. *shrug* I'm usually a bit of a nazi, but that doesn't really bug me. Anyways, I went from A in PWF to A+ in PWA. Period. |

Well I started out in PWA (and the dying days of PWF some) as a gifted spammer with tremendous upside potential. After years of never venturing out of the MD forum, I decided to try RPing a little over a year ago. Evidently, I'm just that damn good because in that short amount of time I've won a title at every major skill level for my character's weight class. Remember that in the HoF polls. Vote Piccie in 07.

Thanks for the insightful look into your evolution as an RPer...>_> Me, I'll do one of these write-ups soon enough, but I feel as though I went from using pretty dumb catchy phrases to using more eloquent words which sometimes results in convoluted RPs that come out all dumb and ugly-looking. Basically, I'm not better than anyone else in this fed. |

Fucking hell, rp evolution well, i'll take it from the start end of 90's/start of 2000's: Like any newbie to rping, i sucked. Razer grabs opponent and hits a DDT. Covers, 1,2, kickout. Razer picks opponent up and hits another ddt again etc basiclaly short, sweet crap UWF 2000/2001: I was in my UWF prime with the likes of darkside and karnage king when freak first made his way into the uwf scene. Back then we measured RP's by lines rather than words and it was things like "100 liners" would have been the equivalent of a 2000 word rp if you get me... like "wow, he hit a 100 liner, how am i gonna top that". during that time i finally got used to the description an making my matches flow... then i bowed out for 18 months PWA: when i rejoined the e-fed scene in november 2002. i was rather rusty. However, still being able to string some sentences together and put some length into matches and what not, i showed promise... hell, in my first 6 weeks i'd beat steele and was facing vegeta for the tag titles with freak my rp style, i dunno really, i rarely read over my matches an now i can't read my early days shit because ez killed it all, but I've kept the theme of my rps going - block style, bolding moves... occasionally used color to highlight them... I've always had the format though of action, bit of commentary, action as I've got older an spent longer in PWA I've put more detail into the rps... especially round the later part of 2003 onwards, i started including alot of what was going on inside Razer's head in rp's, like in big matches, giving it his all then only getting the 2 count an how that demoralised him and often led to his undoing in matches possibly, my prime of rping was 2005 - that match with steele at extreme destruction... it was the best i have ever rp'ed in pwa or any fed, i think by then it was apparent when the occasion was needed i could pull out all the stops and keep a high quality consistent for a whole match and keep it quite realistic over the years i've found its alot easier to churn out a good rp when you know the situation demands it or you have that opponent where things just click and you work with what they give you and make it your own... its strange... but i think many older staffers cna tell you, because of my inconsistency and various stints in pwa, i'm a bastard to book an can be a bastard to face... as trips found out in the handicap match haha promoing though... i'm still getting to grips with it... razer isnt really a mic talking character, more of an action based one |

Lets see UWF days When I started I was green as grass, 25 liners (as Razer described that was 500 words), but I showed promise. I grew into one of the better RPers in the fed, and helped start a rebirth. My character was a little different, but I worked hard on creating something interesting. A homeless wrestler had been done before, but as a serious character it was amazing what I could do with my promos. My RPs increased in size, I started to be more creative, had good tag matches, and I really got into my flow. I stayed on the fed even when everyone else left, there were times when i'd have 3 matches on a card, get in 3 or 4 thousand worders a piece in each, and win all of them. This was the prime of my career, but bad came to bad, worse came to worse, I gave up my oppertunity to hold the world title and be the final champ before the fed closed down because it was good for the fed. I didn't think it would shut down, it just happened, and I ended up here. Pojo I was a prick at the begining here, and I admit it, but I did get pissed at a few people. People still may remember the short feud I had with Fan, based out of us never talking and just chucking insults at each other. But I was doing good, writing 2000 worders, and having good matches. my problem was I was writing really creative, but boring RPs. I'd spend 400 words on a rest hold, which is alright, but doesn't impress me now. I had big matches against Wrath and P.Y., came up with the disastrous Wargames idea, and left the fed because of issues most everyone still likes to joke about. Yep, Showed my weiner. Now I'm writing some of my best stuff I've ever done. I've got good partners, I'm writing good promos, and I'm just kickin ass, takin names, and losing title matches. |

I sucked when I first got here in mid 2005. Just when I started to improve I had to give up RPing because high school football was consuming most of my time. Thanks to a hurricane I didn't manage to return until last summer, but I had improved drastically and Deception managed to no-show :shifty. Once I realized I was getting better though, I just got lazy and stopped RPing. I think my worst problem is that I haven't really watched wrestling in years, so it takes me forever to think out how a good match should go and write it so that it flows well and makes sense. |

I first started here doing very promo-style kind of RP's, but those went away after the first month to do paragraphs for a few months. Once I ran with the IC title the first time, I've been doing blocks. Perhaps the greatest change since I started is now I should be getting a World Title shot despite what some people may think. |

SD!'s been more wrestling-oriented for a few months now (since the beginning of the year?) SD! before the draft was some of the best wrestling WWE had consistently put out in a long, looong time.. Now, it's just kinda bleh. |

I don't think it goes an hour. I think the spoilers said it goes 30 mins or something like that. Still, its the longest match Impact has ever done. Then again, anything over 5 is the longest they've done. |

If you want an example, check the PojoCade main event in the HOF Matches forum.
