Tehraanian National Armed Forces

The Tehraanian National Armed Forces from 1989 and beyond was only barely rebuilding and modernizing after the destructive war of 1965-1984. It was founded with the creation of the Democratic states, but didn't really get any attention until after the Tehraanian Fascist Union took control. The Military is struggling to both grow and modernize effectively with developing but not yet fully recovered economy and focus tends vary, often resulting in technological contrasts between different branches or types of units.

It was divided into 4 branches before the military reorganization in 2000.

The National Army, which included all forces on the ground.

The National Army Aviation, operates the air force focused on ground warfare. Close air support, tactical bombing, strategic bombing and supression of air defense. Airborne reconnaissance is also part of their mission and they possess ground forces in the form of Air mobile infantry and paratroopers. They share command and direction with the National Army. Has access to several types of ground launched cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.

The National Air Defense Force, operation all Air Defense systems and Interceptor/Air supperiority aircraft and is tasked to protect Tehraanian airspace.

The National Navy, which is the Tehraanian Navy and attached Naval aviation.

The Makarov pistol was selected as the main side arm to the all branches of the National Armed Forces due to avalability of the pistols and it's munition over the older M1911 pistol used by many Tehraanian military forces in the past.

TAK (Telra-anna Aotomatik Kalasnikof, Tehraanian Automatic Kalasnikov)

A collective term for the Type-56 and AKM Assault Rifles that are the main service rifles used by the Tehraanian Army. Originally supplied to and domestically produced by the Communist PRA who used it as their main frontline weapon. They are due for replacement. But the rifles had a reputation in Tehraan during the war and are available in large numbers, as well as their ammunition and maintenance kits. Both which lead to it's use as the main service rifle until a replacement can be found, and will probably remain in use for years to come. The folding stock versions are used by the airborne and special forces.

PKMT

A General Purpose Machine Gun series that copies the PKM machine guns and are all but identical. The man portable version is called the PKMT-A and the version mounted on Tanks are called the PKMT-B.

SVD

The SVD is the primary designated marksmen rifle of the Tehraanian National Armed forces. The National Army has no dedicated Marksmen sections, instead there's a single Designated Marksmen team per platoon. They serve as support

Crew served and Heavy weapons

T11M

Although it is being replaced by the T13, the Tehraanian version of the DShKM is at that time still widely in use as a heavy machine gun and anti-aircraft weapon. Commonly seen mounted on vehicles.

T13

A replacement of the D10M that is becoming more common place, but still holds a numerical inferiority to the T11M.

T15

A series of 15mm AA guns produced and used since in 1941. It short recoil operated and air cooled using 15x×114mm round. It has a high rate of fire but has to be fired bursts to counter overheating and jamming. They are mounted in anti-aircraft mounts of either single, pairs or as a quad mount designated AAB-15-1 2 or 4 respectively and are either towed by or mounted on a vehicle. Besides their original intended use as an anti-aircraft gun (which is a task it has become mostly obsolete for) they are more often used against ground targets. The large caliber and high rate of fire makes them very effective in a ground support role, suppressing enemy positions with barrages of bullets that can easily rip a man to shreds. They also make short work of soft-skin vehicles and are capable of penetrating some light armored vehicles.
