Minister-President: Merryn Goodmar (Anderklien Action Party)
Capital: Ottaclur
Motto: "On Guard, On Watch"

Anderklien was first established as an earldom in 1433 by Duke Regulus II as a reward for the Kelruss who had served him. It also served as a way to both warn the southern barbarians off and to keep the southern lords suppressed for fear of Kelruss attacks. The first Earl of Anderklien was Cadwalader Brakespear, who was also the Kommaniken of the Kelruss Carfael by that point. The Brakespears acted as a sort of permanent representative to the Duke's court from the Carfael, each serving as the Earl. When Serhiy Aodhan and the Levellers defeated Duke Gernot IV at Galmaen, many Kelruss went into exile when the Commonwealth of Ossurwald was established. After the fall of the Commonwealth, Duchess Ursula declined to reappoint the Brakespears as earls. Instead, a non-Kelruss aristocrat was found, and Anderklien lost its specific character as the Kelruss Earldom.

In the 1800s Anderklien was a gateway to the territories from the south, and numerous people settled there after moving in from the coast. These people helped push the earldom into revolution in the 1848 Liberal Revolution, and Anderklien was one of the original 24 states that ratified the 1848 Constitution. It chose for its flag the colors of the Kelruss, choosing to de-emphasize the black. The state tended to lean Democratic Liberal during the Second Republic, thought occasionally went National Republican. During the Dictatorship, Anderklien was most famous for the 200 Hands; when Kelruss loyal to Murrasos hunted down and killed 100 fellow Kelruss who rebelled. A statue of a hand marks the spot in the Sayberk Range.

Anderklien today is a diverse state, where the two major parties are the Civic and the Action Parties, whose state affiliates are constantly at each others' throats. Kelruss or those descended from Kelruss hold many important positions; the most famous are Minister-President Goodmar and Secretary of War for Ossurwald Rachel Bonesteel.

Kiel

Minister-President: Warwick Eilbaneos (Agrarian Party of Kiel)
Capital: Kiel
Motto: "The Sun Rises, the Crops Grow"

Kiel joined Ossurwald in 1859, dominated by an agrarian class that never gave up power. Mostly farmers from the coastal areas, Kiel's agricultural power soon made it the breadbasket of Ossurwald, and Kiel's richness in agricultural strength is largely considered the reason behind the National Republican Party's platform of railroad building in the 19th Century; that government intervention was the only way to get crops from the border where Kiel was to the cities where the people were.

Kiel largely benefitted from this, and its farmers quickly were rich. Kielish foodstuffs were being eaten in every part of Ossurwald, and when refrigeration came along, so was its livestock and fruit. Kiel's reputation as Ossurwald's major source of food was established, to the point where other territories attempted to brand themselves the "next Kiel" in order to achieve statehood.

This arrangement, Kiel as the primary powerhouse in the agricultural realm, served it well, as the rich landed farmers were pretty much left untouched by Murrasos and the Popular Congress that succeeded him in the Third Republic. They merely changed their allegiance from the National Party for Ossurwalder Democracy to the Popular Congress. This worked well, right up until 1943. Then, the Workers' Party split from the Congress and the United Party was formed.

The Workers' Party took a far greater interest in food policy, particularly in preventing agricultural subsidies from benefitting solely the landed class, and looked to shift some of the Kielish dominance away onto other states. The remnants of the Congress, now dubbed the United Party was forced to react, coming up with different food policies, which likewise benefitted those other than the Kielish landed gentry. This prompted the formation of the Agrarian Party of Kiel, aimed at protecting Kiel's place in Ossurwald; the party has dominated Kiel for over fifty years. For much of the 90s and 00s, it has been associated with the United Party, but with the formation of the Civic Party, the Agrarian Party now is its own animal.
