Historical background Following the end of the great war of national defense, where the Hegemonic Union agreed to the proposed ceasefire with the Huangdist Teikoku. Tehraan adopted a revised policy often referred to the policy of ideological apathy. Having suffered the futility and counter-productive doctrine of the IFA during its membership for more then a decade. The adoption of this doctrine became a turning point in the history of the Hegemonic Union, as it began looking to change many of it’s policies, especially with economic and political subjects. Notably the sudden opening up to foreign investment and markets. Which, although foreign influence and owner ship in the economy wasn’t unheard of, was a radical move away from the timid protectionist policy it had held since the beginning of the Nentayeg Ikalrem Dictatorship to the creation of the Hegemonic Union. And had a considerable boost to it’s economic status as the United Republics became to the first to fully implement the new policy, which greatly boosted its economy, as new markers and oppertunities for foreign instances opened up. Culminating in an economic growth in what domestic planners thought before was a economic that had reaches its limits with the heavy subsidized domestic market that kept the country in the near state of artificial economic prosperity with highly stable but stagnant markets which was rife with economic injustice. This same change also pushed the Central Government to review its geopolitical doctrine and strategy for Hegemonic Union. Being once based on the ideological and strategically lines of the Hegemonic Union when It was first created, it has proven less in adequate and largely based along the lines of the IFA’s doctrine where combat and conflict was encouraged against left-wing and parliamentary democratic governments. This doctrine and strategy had been largely inadequate following the change. Besides the main shift. The Hegemonic Unions new geopolitical strategy shifted largely to inter-regional affairs. Especially the a zone that in the new doctrine is revered to the HU triangle. It’s primary purpose is sustaining the current regime structure of the Hegemonic Union. This new doctrine was adopted shortly after the war alongside that of the ideological apathy policy. Strategy Economy and vital interests To keep the Hegemonic Union intact it chooses to sustain that which in vital to the Union. Of all things the Central Government fears a push to a different system of government by its own people. Which would inevitable result the removal of the hierarchal system that was created during dictatorship of Nentayeg Ikalrem, a structure that the Central Government seeks to sustain. To this end, whilst having left the IFA and adopted the policy of ideological apathy. Much of the fascist policies of indoctrination, propaganda and repression of dissent has remained in place. Subscribing to the original concept of national discipline put forth by Nentayeg Ikalrem in the earily nighties. Internal education and suppression of decenters is not enough to sustain the nation. There’s has to be a counter balance to disciplinary action that can ensure the people are content. Or else there is no national unity. On the external policy its main focus is sustaining the economic strength and having it grow further. This means regional interests, especially economic rank as the top driving force behind much of the Hegemonic Unions policy. No nation within the Hegemonic Union is self-sustaining, and together they do not fully provide for each other’s short comings through trade. There is therefore a need to ensure that the Hegemonic Unions regional trade is secure and continues. ![]() The HU triangle if often sighted at the area that is most important to the Hegemonic Union. It is called the triangle because it is visualized by drawing lines between the edges of each state towards the next creating a triangular shape. In truth it is a highly simplified image and incorporates areas that matter little to the Union, but it does contain the majority of the vital shipping lanes and much of the areas of interest. The majority of shipping lanes pass through this area between the HU member states and trade partners such as Canhadast and Talibastain. Thus security of these shipping lanes are great importance, conflict or hostility in this area can threaten HU economy by disrupting its shipping routes. Therefore the Hegemonic Union keeps a near zero tolerance policy towards disruptive forces within this area and tries to achieve and maintain naval supremacy within the triangle. A issue that his directly linked to it heavy investment in modernizing and expanding the Unified Navy. To attain the level of naval force projection it wants it operates from a multitude of naval bases in each memberstates and conducts regular patrols within the area. It also seeks relations with nations within or near the area that it considers important to its vital interests, nations such as Estovakiva, Canhadast and Talibastain.
