Heh, heh...thanks, Su! I actually haven't gotten them out yet! I've gotten it put off until the end of summer. Partly because I'm busy with work, but mostly because I don't want to get them out! Thanks, though, I'll remember that in August when I get them out.

Good luck! (A bit late, but hey.)
I'm sure you'll be fine. Just take it easy with eating etc. - and beware toothbrushes!

Are you getting all four out at once? I jsut recently had the top and bottom on my rightside removed. I don't know if you had to have yours cut out or not but, you'll only feel presser. The dentist will tell you to eat soft food like pudding. I would suggest pasta like noodles that are soft. Hope everything went well.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm jello was my best friend when I got mine removed.

The first two days were great, I got some pain medication that knocked me right out.

The third and fourth day were pretty hard, the sorest of the first week. I had to grit my teeth in order to feel I was relieving the pain, then feeling sore at gritting my teeth. (nice circle there...)

After the pain left, the hardest thing was having to eat only soft food. I felt like I would never be able to chew again!

So hang in there PG!!!!

It's awful, I know.

I couldn't drink anything when I got mine removed.

We went to McDonalds and it was a mess.

I could eat chicken nuggets though, for some reason.

Point is, eat chicken nuggets?

Oh, and if you got the kind of stitches I did (All tied together), don't open your mouth fully. It really hurts.

But, on the bright side, at least your not getting them removed 10 years ago.

They didn't have the technology back then!

There tools were made of wood, they were. Termite infested wood.

Thanks, everyone! As you can see, since I'm here, I did in fact survive. I got all 4 removed, but I was knocked out while I did it, so it took all of 2 seconds (or so it seemed). I've been sitting around watching TV and movies and reading all day. Until now, that is!

Jello is good, but today my friend has been milkshakes. Mmm! I hope I make it through the sore days. Thanks again, everyone.

I just got all four wisdom teeth taken out yesterday (Saturday). They put me out with a combo of general anesthetics and nitrous oxide (Laughing Gas)... Strange, STRANGE feeling.

But, as soon as I was completely out, I was waking up and it was all over. It only took them 30 minutes from start to finish to take out all four wisdom teeth.

I was rather groggy the rest of the day, but except for when my mom accidentally gave me cold instead of room temperature water to drink my pills down with, there hasn't been much pain. I've got a prescription with a big white "horse" pill that I take one of every 4-6 hours. At the same time that I take my horse pill, I take to Ibuprofen, which they recommended I take to make the prescribed medication work better and last longer... and it has.

I've already taken out the gauze for the last time and my gums are doing great. My mom says my stitches are really, really looking good--she's quite impressed.

I seem to have managed to get the better experience out of this. My sister had a really loopy, painful time when she had her four wisdom teeth out.

So far, my food has consisted of almost-liquified instant mashed potatoes with a hint of Ranch dressing and salt, and drained cooked Ramen noodles sans the flavor packet and with some butter and salt (oh and chocolate pudding cup for dessert). I recommend the Ramen noodles only after several hours after the surgery.... It was a pain trying to eat/drink the mashed potatoes when my mouth was still numb/tingly....

When I took my prescription pill the first time, I almost choked 'cause I couldn't feel it going down.... Eeek!

But, really, I'm doing a lot better than everyone expected me to, and I think that I should recover quickly enough that by next Sunday I'll be able to have Shepherd's Pie at the Kansas City Irish Fest (I can't WAIT for next weekend!).

I'm glad your surgery seemed to go well, too, pirategirl!

While we're on the subject of teeth, has anyone had a root canal? I'm going to. It doesn't sound like fun. The dentist claims it will be no big deal, but I have reasons not to trust those people...

I feel your pain, Joy. (Literally!) Don't worry. It sounds like you had a similar time with it. You'll be better in no time!

ElvenLight, I have never had a root canal, but I wish you luck. I don't trust dentists either. I got my first cavity filled about a month ago. (I'm 20, and it was my first one ever!) I was mad about it because it was really small and it had been there for a year and hadn't grown at all. Plus, it was where a sealant (sp?) should have been protecting my molar. Well, they filled it, and it's a long time later, and it still is sensitive to cold and stuff, so much so that it sometimes makes my other teeth hurt. When I asked my oral surgeon about it before my wisdom teeth got removed, he said if it kept hurting by next month, I might need a root canal! I want to sue my dentist...
