AAAHHHH!!!! Thanks so much, tru! This is so cool! I've been wanting to do something like this forever. Except I don't know how. Does anyone know how to record sounds onto your computer from a movie? Also, does anyone know if there's a way to edit the clips they have? Like, if you just want one line, is there a way to edit it yourself?

Now, when my computer starts up, instead of that Windows sound, it says, "Welcome to the Caribbean, love." :D

Well, first you have to save the sound clip to your computer. Then go to the Control Panel and open up "Sounds and Audio Devices." When that little menu thingy comes up, go to the "Sounds" tab. At the bottom, there's a list of "Program Events." This has a list of the sounds your computer makes when you start up, shut down, error messages, whatever. Click on the one you want to change, then browse through sounds and find the POTC one you saved. Select it, push "Apply," and you're good to go!

You can do this for anything. You can even have sounds for saving a program on Word, exiting out of stuff, Internet Explorer, all that kind of stuff! Just be warned: Don't do a long one for things like saving a program because you have to wait until the sound clip is over before you can continue working. That's why I wanted to know how to edit the clips. Anyway, I hope that makes sense!

I had sounds on here at one point, but I've gotten rid of most as they were getting on my nerves big time, only so many times I can have stuff blowing up and shouting at me before I get rid of it.

Oooh, I just got some themes, nothing to do with POTC but... yeah, I need music.

Glad everyone is enjoying that site! I would like to do that with my computer too, pirategirl0306, but I just haven't taken the time. I guess it doesn't take much time though. Maybe I'll give it a try! :D

Hey, if I can do it, it must be easy! :D I'm not as computer-savvy as I would like to be. It's a snap, I promise!

I hope he makes some more clips, because I requested some good ones!

Did you find out how to edit them? 'Cause there's a free program that'll let you do that. It's called Audacity. Try it, it's neat once you learn how to use it. ;)

Cool! I'm definitely going to have learn more about this. This could make everything ten times better...I have so much POTC stuff on my computer, it's not even funny!

EDIT: So, I downloaded it, and so far it's not that tricky! Now I've got snippets of those long quotes instead of the whole thing. :fruit: I am loving this!

Yeah, me too. I used to have sounds for everything (starting up programs, maximising windows, etc.), but it got too much. (Though I lasted a while... I have two separate POTC sets, and one of From Hell, and I think I may have another.)

If you're looking for POTC soundfiles, you should check out The Cache. (It doesn't seem to working right now , but I'm sure that will be fixed soon.) I personally recorded some sounds from the DMC teaser and sent them to Joy to put on there. :) (I was going to do the same with the trailer, but the lovely high-res one I downloaded and transferred to my laptop (where I can record sound) refuses to play with sound there  - so I can't record it either. :P If anyone could PM me a link to a downloadable trailer with decent sound, I'd be very grateful. :))

I think I got it off POTCfandom back in the day. Or maybe I recorded it myself, but I don't think so.
*checks* No, it was POTCfandom.

I think it's on The Cache, but I understand that The Cache will be closed for a while as final preparations are being made for the grand opening.
Er... The zip file's 45.6 KB. I can email it to you, if you want. :)
