Am I the only person who liked it?; I feel a little alone on this...

Like I've said before, it reuses the same jokes ad nauseam, but beyond that... I just don't see why someone couldn't like it.

I think it connected perfectly well with the last one (almost *TOO* well...) and it opens it up perfectly for the next one. I really loved how incredibly multi-layered the plot was, and everyone was very involved.

Everything, to me, seemed great. *shrug*

I think that the next one will throw in sharp relief that which this one has not yet achieved...closure. And it'll show how everything is connected and how relevant everything in this one is...

Perhaps I'm too hopeful?

I'm just so upset that many people feel so disappointed. It's not as good as the first one, in a few respects, but I dunno... I thought most of it was character development, which is what I wanted. I mean, NONE of the characters are really one-dimensional anymore. And I think that that will definitely prove true in the next one. This was just the bridge to the next one, with the character development and set-up...I suppose that's what most people don't like.

Blek. My grammar is atrocious.

Well, I loved it! For pretty much the same reasos as you, I think. I also loved the ending- from the kiss onwards. It seemed so... majestic... to me. But I know what you mean- there do seem to be so many people, Rumrunners no less (Ooo- bit of Davy Jones coming in there...), who didn't like it. It makes me feel quite sad as well

I liked it a lot, too, and I also think it's sad that a lot of people didn't like it, but they're entitled to their opinion. I admit, as it was first starting, it was a little weird, but I think that's because I'm so used to COTBP that anything else just seemed wrong, even if it was the sequel. (The same thing happened to me with the Harry Potter books.) By the end of the movie I loved it, but that's just me. I think a lot of it comes down to people's expectations. Some people's were probably higher than what the film had to offer, so they didn't like it as much as they had hoped they would.

I think part of the real problem is that we became so attached to the characters in the first movie, for what they were.

Seeing them act in any way different than the first can seem insulting to some. But, what we have to realize is that the stakes have changed since the first one. EVERYONE (meaning Lizzie, Jack, and Binky) is on the run. Everyone is in a frenzy to save their own @ss. Seriously. Everyone in this movie displayed acts of heartless, cold selfishness. Norrington took Davy Jones's heart to save himself. Jack left Binky with Davy Jones and was gathering 99 more people to lead to their death. Elizabeth left Jack chained to the Black Pearl, which by the way, I think she did partly to help her get rid of the feeling she has for him. And Binky left Jack alone on the cannibal island.

It was amazing to see how much Captain Jack Sparrow affected everyone. It really shown through in this movie. EVERYONE was a friggin' pirate, man.

By the way, didn't anyone think that Jack knew Binky wasn't bound to Davy Jones? And didn't anyone else think that Jack wouldn't have really let those 99 other people die? Everyone is so quick to assume that he would've, but I don't think so.

Yeah it was far too common to be a stand-alone banner, so I had to edit it. :P

Do the admins really care if we're off-topic?

And that is a serious question, by the way.
