In CotBP right before his actual and final escape Jack says to Norrington "I was rooting for you, know that". Back then I assumed it probably meant he thought Norrington would be the best candidate to marry Elizabeth, that he had the best chances to marry her. Now in DMC after setting up Norrington against Will on Isla Cruces he says it again: "I'm still rooting for you". Except for the fun of 'flashbacks', I wonder why he would say that? It's pretty obvious he isn't talking about a wedding between Norrington and Liz now, for the situation has irreversibly changed. But then again, they were talking abut the past right before that... and it doesn't really make sense if he's talking about Will and Norrington fighting, for he knows how good Will is at swordfighting and how big Norrington's eternal bad luck is. Or is he simply being sarcastic, to rub it in once more? If he is, then that's rather ironic, 'cause his prediction is coming true; Norrington is the one that gets away with the 'prize' here. Okay I don't really have a point here, but I just wondered... What are your thoughts on this? It's probably very easy explained

I think he was being a bit sarcastic, but I think he really is rooting for James to win. I think Jack has a great deal of respect for James... and viseversa, even if they don't want to admit it.
