That's one of my favorites too! "This whole sector is uncharted." "It is not uncharted you lost the chart!" I'm now watching the whole series from the beginning, again. The DVD commentaries rule! |

Get them all. Or the big box set of every season (although that probably costs a fortune). My point is, the DVD's are worth it for the commentaries. One for EVERY episode and are very funny. And now because I can't help myself, I'm going to quote the commentaries... *sings*"Nobody cares!!!!! Nobody cares!!!!" |

Aw, I wanna see the commentaries!
But, I also don't want to spend money to buy the DVDs. Oh, the dilemma.
Who's on the commentaries? Groening? The voices? Ooh, I love it when they go back in time and leave Bender, and 1000 years later they dig him up. That always cracks me up. Wonder what he was doing for those thousand years.

Short answer is a lot of people. It changes from episode to episode (I'm guessing based on who was available the day they were recording) but Groening and David X. Cohen (the co-creator) are on every one, Billy West and John Di Maggio (Fry and Bender) are on most of them, Maurice LaMarche (Kif and some other people) is on a few, Tress MacNeille is on a few season 3 ones and Dan Castellaneta is on the last episode. Apart from that the writer and director of the episode are usually there, sometimes the animation supervisor people and at least one episode had the composer on it. *realises that knowing all those names and everything makes her look like a huge geek* Oh dear... |

It's okay NB, I memorized the entire Marvel Comics Avengers line-up once. I think I forgot most of them by now!

That reminds me of Where No Fan Has Gone Before, Will... "Melllvar! Dinner time!" "Aw, but Mom, I'm playing with my collectables!' "Now!" "All this time we thought he was a powerful super-being, yet he was just a child." "He's not a child, he's 34!" |

I'm the same way with the Xena DVDs. We all have things we know that we don't want to admit we know. But, aw, Katey Sagal isn't on any of the commentaries? That's too bad. I Leela. But they got Fry and Bender on most of them, so I'm sure I'd be thrilled.
That part was great. Poor, poor Scottie. Well, at least he didn't have to deal with Mellvar!

I feel bad for Welshie... He was the greatest Trekker ever... ... Exept for Shatner. He can make out with Leela, speak a rap song, and kick ass, even at his age! Go William! |

Shatner is amazing. "There's something on the wing!" Ah, Shatner and The Twilight Zone combined. What could be better? Hmmmmmmm... maybe the Futurama parody of The Twilight Zone. Yeah, poor Welshie will never get recognized for his importance in our lifetimes. Oh well, we know his awesomeness.

That he is. Funny, the time Futurama parodied The Twilight Zone they were kind of referencing him, too, because they make fun of the episode he was in. The episode of The Simpsons where they made fun of that episode kind of freaked me out as a kid because of the goblin holding Ned Flanders' decapitated head, and I was sure in real life there'd be a time when I saw something fantastic and nobody would believe me.
Anyway... "You are entering the realm which is unusual. Maybe it's magic or contains some kind of monster. The second one. Prepare to enter... The Scary Door. Please send a man around back and pick up Clyde Smith, a professional gambler who's about to have an unfortunate accident. Ha ha ha! A casino where I'm winning? That car must've killed me. I must be in Heaven! A casino where I always win. That's boring. I must really be... in Hell! No Mr. Smith. You are not in Heaven or Hell. You are on an airplane! There's a gremlin destroying the plane. You gotta believe me! Why should I believe you? You're Hitler! No! Eva Braun! Help me! Augh! Saw it coming." I'm totally like Bender there when I watch The Twilight Zone.

The reward remark reminds me of the time... *Futurama flashback...* "The Fairness In Hell Act of 2275 requires me to inform you that if you can best me in a fiddle contest, you win back Bender's soul. As well as a solid gold fiddle." "Wouldn't a solid gold fiddle weigh hundreds of pounds and sound crummy?" "Well it's mostly for show." "Do you know how to play the fiddle?" "No. Do you?" "No, but I used to play the drums. They're sorta similar. What happens if we lose?" "You'll only win a smaller, silver fiddle. Also I guess I'll kill one of you, uh, him." "We'll do it." So, I think Tomb should get a solid gold fiddle. |

You're too sweet. You're right, it's definately not a bad thing to be a geek. Geeks rule!!! ![]()
Aw, you're too sweet. I'd LOVE a solid gold fiddle!!! I could play it so prettily! Way better than Leela... not as well as the Robot Devil, though.
Come on, he had three hands to play with! Not fair.
Man, I love that episode. Could just be because it has a song in it, though. "I don't feel well." "It's up to us to rescue him." "Maybe he likes it here in Hell." "It's us who tempted him to sin." "Maybe he's back at the motel." "Come on Fry, don't be scared. I'm sure at least one of us will be spared. So just sit back and enjoy the ride!" "My @ss has blisters from the slide!" |
