Lol Idk if this thread has been done before, but I was kind of curious, because I know at least to me that my pet (dog) is an extremely big part of me and my life. I thought maybe we could learn more about each other through the type of pet we have? I'm a huge animal lover, dog in particular, so I'm one of those people who feels a strong connection with their pet. I think of animals as being like people, just like us. For me, I have a dog, a Portuguese Water Dog. She's black and medium sized, and right now she's 11 years old. I love her more than anything in the world.. and she's super, super smart. She knows soo many words, I mean, we talk to her in complete sentences, conversations even! Anyways, I've been really close with her since I was a little kid.. I feel like she's the most important thing to me in this world Her name is Nina. What about you guys? |

Yeah, I have some pets. A tabby cat named Bubbles (my daughter was into Power Puff Girls at the time). A beagle named DeDe (stands for Dumb Dog). And two underwater snails my daughter brought home from school one day. I suggested she name one Gary, but she named them something else. I forget what, but I think it has something to do with her anime characters. My favorite is the cat. I call her my "good girl," as opposed to the dog who's my "bad girl." I love them both though. |

I made a thread like this a long time ago. It only got like two replies... (wonders where it is)Ah well, I have many pets and they are all a big part of my life! It takes a chunk out of my free time to make sure they are all fed, played with and cleaned up after. Oye, a biiiig chunk. And they all sleep on my bed at night!-With the exception of the lizards-:P First off, I have two cats and three dogs. ( I just got a puppy! =D ) I also have three lizards. Those are all mine! Birthday or Christmas gifts, saved up money....begging...
What do my parents have, you ask? Well, they have something very enjoyable as well. Fishies. *Deep breath* Here we go. Alright, well my first pet ever was Angel. When I was little I had really bad nightmares (Over active imagination and horror movies. ) So one day, my dad came home with this big brown bag. He said it was for me ( I really didn't know what I'd want a big brown bag that smelled funny for but I pretended like I wanted it anyways ) But when I as talking to my dad, all of a sudden these ears pop out! And then a furry little head. After that, my nightmares stopped, so we named her Angel because she was my 'guardian angel' and drove my nightmares away... atleast thats why my mom said we named her that. She is a pomeranian, but without the poofy... It seems every pic I have of her has her tongue in it!Then, one year for my birthday, my sister brought me a kitten! She was very tiny and cute. The reason why she was so tiny, is because when Patches was little, she was thrown out of a moving car with her brother, Bear ( My sister has him) in a garbage bag! Patches was really close to dying when my sister found them on the side of the road. She had an eye infection and was really weak from malnourishment. My sister took her to the vet, when it was sure she would survive, I got her! Not a great pic of her..My other dog, Roscoe... well I just got him from a lot of begging. He is very smart, probably the smartest dog I've had. He can tell when you are sad and knows just what to do to make you feel better! ( Starring in Riot of Oz. ) He's a rat terrier.Roscoe looks so sad! Jinx is my other cat. My sister found him also, only this was by her house in the country. He was being eaten alive by fleas. She did what she could for him but could't bring him inside because the infestation was so bad. One day, when I was leaving her house, I heard meowing and turned my head. My sister was all "Aw, she wants to see him." but her husband was like "Mom said no." He was so cute I couldn't leave him there... I convinced my mum into it. He is very fat now, by the way.Jinx as a kitten! And then my three lizards. They don't do all that much. Denali I got for Christmas from my brother. She must be atleast two years... She is fairly small for her age. My leopard gecko is Tawny... she is um... very...unique. She reminds me a lot of a cat. And lastly, Gir/Lestat. I have had him since last April btu I still don't know what his name is! I call him "The Little Guy" He is, um... very... mean. He likes biting peoples fingers.
And FINALLY, Daisy. She is a puppy, 4 months old. She is a toy rat terrier... we got her from the same breeder we got Roscoe from. She is a nose biter, loves going to the bathroom in unsuspecting places, and is currently chewing up my rug.... We named her Daisy because of Dukes of Hazzard. Daisy Duke, Rosco P Coltrane.
(( Haha, not my idea. >_< ))Here we see Daisy taking on a chameleon... shh... Um, yeah Daisy... And that's my mini zoo!

HA! MY BUNNY FOR SURE! It's so cute and fat and fluffy all over...you just wanna hug it all day.
I love Fluffy. my little baby fattyso as I like to call her... She's just this little black bunny that hates everyone but me. Oh well, I love her anyways. hehe Although, I used to have a pug ever since I was born up till I was....12? I think. Rocko was the best dog ever but it was so sad when we had to put him down. He had like cancer and stuff... I was never the same again after he died. I felt like something was missing....
Anyway, I love both dogs, and bunnies the same....except now I prefer bunnies to dogs They're just.....so cute!!

I had a few pets in my lifetime. In chronological order: a goldfish, a cat, a dog and then a bird. (Extensive, no? :D) We had the goldfish when I was six. He didn't do much, he only stared at everything with huge eyes. He looked scared all the time, poor thing. He didn't really have a name. (Maybe that was what scared him. He probably thought to himself "What if I meet a beautiful Goldie?! What will I say is my name?!") He disappeared eventually, he might have shared the same fate as so many Goldfish corpses before him...a swift pull of a chain, a whirlpool of water... My cat was the most wonderful kitty in all the land. Her name was Sasha and I got her when I was about 9 years old. (We lived in a town called George at the time.) She used to sleep in my bed, curled up next to me. I can still remember the time when I started to take my bicycle to school. Everyday, as I came home, she would jump through the window of the house and run towards me in a sort of trotting way. All the while she would meaow as if to say "Hi! Welcome back!" My mom and I ran into some financial difficulties and when I was 14, we had to move out of George and go live with my mom's brother. My uncle is allergic to cats, so we could not take her with us. With a broken heart, we gave her to my mom's best friend who then took great care of her. I saw Sasha a few times after that but she treated me like a stranger. I understood and didn't take it personally. About 2 months ago, we got a call from my mom's friend and she shared with us the bad news...Sasha passed away. She was 14 years old. My mom and I eventually moved to a small flat on a small farm...type...thing on the outskirts of a little town known as Brits. I was 17 at the time. The woman who owned the farm was paranoid about thiefs and murderers so in the time that we lived there, she brought home new puppies that would grow into huge fierce dogs within a few months. These little puppies had to sleep outside in the winter and only got maizemeal porridge to eat. On top of all this, horrible ticks started to climb onboard the poor puppies. My mom and I love animals, so we "adopted" these adorable dogs. There was three of them, two pavement specials, females and sisters, and one purebred Alsation, a male. (The Alsation was called Zorba by the woman who owned the house.) For some reason that baffles the minds of those who care, the lady of the house decided to do something about the ticks on the puppies by using extra-strength poison for ticks on their backs. My mom and I saw the puppies the following day acting like something was was burning their backs. Well...duh! Extra-strength, poison, backs of puppies...what did the owner expect?! We washed the poor dogs and had them in our flat for the next week or so (even though we weren't allowed to have the dogs with us in the flat ) The two girl dogs got over it quickly, but the slightly younger Zorba completely lost his appetite and his back was raw and painful. I remember one specific night, he shivered and kept crying like he was in pain. I picked him up in my arms and stroked his head. He calmed down and stopped crying and shivering. When I stopped stroking his head, he started shivering and crying again. I kept this up almost all through the night. This caused a strong bond to form between Zorba and self and from then on he was my doggy. My mom used what we call "tissue oil" (I don't know what it's called in other countries) to get his back back in shape. Eventually, his back was healed but he still had no appetite. I decided to take action because I didn't want to see my Zorba die of hunger. I took some bread and milk and mixed some of my chicken noodle soup into it. He looked like some interest for it was stirring in him, but he didn't eat it. I cooled some more of the soup and gave the undiluted soup for him. That got him eating and eventually he ate like a normal dog. He grew up to be big and strong and a real "mommy's boy". He would much rather lie on the floor in my room than run around outside. Once again, my mom and I moved and we couldn't take him with us. I'm too afraid to call the woman of the house where he lives...maybe he's dead. I'd rather not find out, it would break my heart.
My mom and I lived in Port Elizabeth when I was 20 (once again in a small flat :D) and there I decided to buy a budgie. I went to the petstore and bought the little blue outcast in the corner. (He reminded me of myself as a child) I called him Verbal and made him into a tame bird. He even used to eat seeds out of my mouth . My mom thought that my Verbal was lonely so she bought another budgie. Verbal changed from a loving, tame bird to a vicious, wild stranger in an instant. One day while I was at work, my mom got back from her halfday shift and let the birds out of their cage. Unfortunately, she left the window open and they flew away. My mom cried a lot but I decided not to blame her. I accepted it for what it was. |

Weell, I have a cat and a dog. My dog is named Charlie. He's about 9 months old and he's a Clumber Spaniel. He looks completely thick but he's actually quite smart. Utterly insane but quite smart. Me and my brother unofficially lengthened his name to Charlesworth. But I call him pig because he snores My baaaby! And, Riot? Patches is my cat's twin! They look indentical! Seeee?ANyways, that's Pepper. Pepper's my widdle pussycat baby! Her mummy is my cousin's cat and my cousin gave her to me. She's quite small cos she was the runt of the litter. She's bonkers. Absolutely crazy. She has a special party trick which I find adorable. And then there was Ellie. Ellie, sadly, is not around anymore. She was the most specialist mouse in the world. My mum got me her when one day my cat brought in a mouse which was still alive. I took care of that mouse til it was better but then it escaped from the make-shift cage I had built and I was so upset that my mum had to get me another mouse. And that's how I got Ellie. She was a genius, I loved her sooo much. RIP Ellie mousen |

Wow, I want to reply on this thread...but all my pets are dead.
Plus my mother hated animals in the house; I would have had more.I had the obligatory goldfish when I was four. Two in fact...one gold and one black, I was told they were both goldfish...Anyway, their names were...*drumroll*...Goldie and Blackie! And they met the same fate as Su's. My second pet, when I was in first grade, was a wittle bunny named Veggies. Rabbits are really great pets to have, as long as they're not cooped up all the time. So what did we do? We shut all the doors and let her loose in the basement. Catching her to put her back in is a story in itself. We would set the cage outside sometimes to let her chew up the grass, and unfortunately one day she died of heat stroke. I cried. No pets for about five or six years. Then my cousin gave us her hamswer named Cocoa. Vicious little biting rodent, indeed. However, as an educated fifth grader(or maybe sixth), I knew what to do. I checked out library books on hamsters. Eventually, with much patience and ALOT of sitting still, my sister and I trained her to be held without sinking her teeth into our skin. She died a year later...still not sure why.In sixth grade, my parents and sisters and I were walking through the local flea market, and just happened to pass by the pet section. My sister and I found ourselves at the puppy table. We played with the chocolate and black labs through the cages, like children will do. As always, we wished aloud that we had a dog. Not thinking anything of it. What was strange was that my father was actually considering it! To make a long story short, we took home our black lab puppy, Moses. What we didn't know was that Moses had parvo, a virus. The vet told us that only 1/3 of the dogs that contract parvo survive. Sadness. Deep sadness for us all. We tried to feed him chicken and water...but he would just throw them up. It wasn't looking good, and Moses was so thin we could see his ribs. He was allowed to stay in the laundry room in a cardboard box. Amazing that my mother even allowed that... My dad stayed up with him when he cried, and he did cry so heartbreakingly. At this point in time, my baby sister was eating Gerber baby food. I don't know what made my dad think of it, but he tried to feed Moses some baby food...and it worked! He was finally eating without throwing up. As he gained strength, he would drink Gatorade instead of water. Yes, our little puppy survived! And he grew through his "teenager years", running off all the time and bringing back "presents" and newspapers that belonged to the neighbors. One time we found a whole chicken dinner in the yard! After Moses was in our life for four years, one snowy day my father found him on the side of the nearby highway, crying and still. After taking him to the vet, we decided that instead of letting Moses live with hip replacements and limited movement, we would just put him to sleep. So he passed from our life, and since then we have been pet-less, save for the occasional lizard or fish. Wow, I sure did have more than I thought to say about my pets! |

I no longer have cats of my own, we had the family pets that reside at my mother's house but I moved out earlier this year. The two cats I had there are Chips, a gigantic calico and Womble, a scruffy looking tabby. I do miss having cats. As for pets of my very own (although they are still at my mum's until I have space for them) I have two corn snakes; one red and brown named Talyn, the other black and khaki named Moya. They should be coming to live with me just after Christmas. Will |

My two hermit crabs died a few weeks ago.. I have a flexible, gorgeous persian cat named Buttons. We bought her from my grandpa's old work shop when I was........6 or 7 I think. We used to have a black cat with two white back paws that ran away or got killed after my great grandma died. Freaky ain't it? Anyway..Buttons never used to meow. Like EVER. Then she turned up missing for 1 day and turns out. She was trapped in her house box thing! And when I got her out..she was meowing and all happy. She still does meow sometimes.I have to say my favourite pet is my cuddly, fat guinea pig. He is so hilarious. And fat..and sweet. He loves people. My dad bought him for Christmas and my sister named him Captain Jack! He's a gorgeous black colour with some tan-orange on his back.

I have a dog and three cats. I have a Chow Chow named Teddy Bear. He is 12 years old. Like all pet owners my pets mean the world to me. Picture of a Chow Chow I have a American Grey Tabby(cat), called Tigger(my mom named him). I adopted him from my old babysitter when her cat had kittens. He's 5 years old. He's the first cat we got. Picture of Tigger's breed. The second cat that we adopted is Jack. We adopted him over that summer. The neighbor's down the street moved and left him. He's a tom cat(meaning he is both indoors and outdoors cat). He gets along with the other cats. He stays out in the garage with the dog when it's cold/hot out. That and Tigger(he hisses at Jack) doesn't get along with him. I came up with the name after watching Pirates 2. He's not mischivious like Jack is just a laid back, lap cat. Picture of a cat that looks like Jack. The third cat that adopted us is Callie. Again my mom named her. She apperared on our dorstep and we tried to ignore her but, for two nights in a row she say by the door mewing continuously. She didn't have a collar and we didn't know where she came from. She a medium-haired orange and black tortoiseshell. She looks similar to this cat. |

We have two pets: an orange Persian cat named Pumpkin and a puppy named Jack. (Not named after Jack Sparrow, but when I stop to think about it, I would consider him slightly crazy, which could be a connection to Jack Sparrow. :D) Our cat hates our puppy (she is 11 1/2 years old and we just got him last April), and I don't blame her. He jumps on her all the time! And tries to bite her tail. Our poor persecuted kitty. |
