Guess what I've been playing tonight. Yep the Halo series is just about fantastic enough to warrant a thread all of its very own. Playing co-op with my other half we've got through a significant part of the first game tonight even though we're both retarded when it comes to driving the warthog. It's really satisfying to pwn a hunter with a rocket launcher. Need to get a new copy of Halo 2 as the existing one has gone MIA and although I don't have a 360 (yet) I'm still looking forward to the release of Halo 3 this year.

Anyone else?

I played the first game for weeks on end when I first got it. It became a vital part of my day, alongside work and sleeping. Lost interest in it when my sister started beating me at co-op.

Halo 2 was good, but the ending disappointed me. It's annoying that I have to get one of those 360s in order to play Halo 3 though.

I know what you mean. The 360 is still way too pricey for me at around £280 for the premium version (which xe.com tells me is currently $553.90). I'm hoping that after the European launch of the PS3 in April the prices will become a bit more competitive as I really want Halo 3, Gears of War and the 360 version of Guitar Hero.

One can hope, though I'm hesitant to get another game console. I have three already, the original 8-bit Nintendo (which still works), a GameCube, and the regular Xbox.

I don't care all that much for paying top dollar on new games anyway.

i love Halo, mainly because i kick ass at it.

My level on Xbox Live is around 44 or so. Last time I checked. (It's out of 50)

Does anyone know when Halo 3 is coming out? Amazon and dvd.co.uk have it up as the end of November but Play.com have the release date at the end of April. I think April's just my wishful thinking.

Well, the beta test comes out Spring 2007, so I would assume the game itself will come out anywhere from August to November. They'll want it for the Christmas season. It's going to be competing against Smash Bros and Metal Gear Solid.

I've seen the first advert for it and it looks great (bubble shield?). The free beta test is coming out on the Crackdown disc later this month which I'll be getting.

Yeah, the bubble shield had me going "What the hell?" as well.

When it comes out that is going to be the new sword. There will be non-stop complaints on Xbox Live.

My friend works at a movie/game store, and I made him promise he'll reserve me one of the Crackdown copies with the beta test.

I find it funny no-one will be buying the game for Crackdown.

I have to say that I played the demo and I liked Crackdown, it was fun. Once you stop trying to actually kill gang members and start kicking innocent citizens until they bleed to death it's a highly entertaining game. Three of us were taking turns with the demo; driving cars along the sidewalk, hurling hand grenades at women, killing people with the bloody corpses of other bystanders. It was great fun.
I'll be getting Crackdown, you'll have to let me know your username on Xbox live and we can go on killing sprees.
You're probably right though, a load of people will buy this for the Halo beta although it's a bit expensive just for that.

I saw a kid playing Crackdown in Future Shop a day or so ago. Seemed ok. Looked like it was just GTA on steroids, though. I'm thinking they'll get alot of buys from the little kids that want a superhero GTA thing. It'll tide them over until the Marvel MMORPG comes out.

I'll be buying it mainly for the Halo beta. My wife wants the game, so it's not a complete waste. Mabye after I watch her play it I'll get into it.

I so need to give you my Xbox Live! I'm in-between accounts right now, though, sadly, so it won't be for a while. But when I do, all those 14 year olds better watch out! :D Will and Cold are coming to pwn them!

I need to improve my skills as I'm still a total n00b but then I've only had the thing a week. This is where being unemployed has its significant benefits, seriously it would be the most intense training montage you've ever seen without any physical exercise.
Crackdown comes out here tomorrow. I might venture into town to get it, or I might sit in front of the TV and play PGR until the bank sends me a new card and I can buy it online. I need the H3 Beta though so I might take a long walk to the bus stop at the top of the road.

I'm pretty sure there's only a special amount of Crackdown copies with the beta. Some have them, some don't. You'd best get there as soon as you can tomorrow. If there's only a select amount they'll be selling like hotcakes.

Hmm, I thought it was all of them. I certainly haven't seen anything about that being limited. Maybe it's just the first batch. Crackdown is fun though and you can have great fun just slaughtering the innocent. I'll play through the game as well but that doesn't mean I won't spend a lot of time throwing trucks into civilians.
I should probably go outside anyway as otherwise I'll start fearing those horseless metal chariots and the big blue blanket overhead. At the moment I'm only venturing outside the front door to smoke. I love being a shut in.

It's only the first shipment that gains automatic entry to the beta. You downlaod it over Xbox Live apparently, it's not on the disc.

But in other news...

I GOT IT! :yay:

I just bought it today! I gets to get the beta!

There were only three left when I went and got it! :yay: My friend says it was the first shipment, so I get the beta!

Yay! Life isn't so terrible anymore!
