For centuries, men and women alike wonder at the images they see while they are asleep. Many speculate that there's meaning to them, that it's the way of the subconscious to communicate important facts to our cognitive brain. Or dreams can just be the result of eating 20 minutes before going to sleep and carry no significant meaning at all. Either way, welcome to the Dream Analysis thread! I'm your host/dream-analyzer Suluna. ![]() This is easy. Post a dream you want analyzed here, and in a few...measures of time, I will post the result. Now, if you want to post the dream publicly, but want a private answer, please state so in your post. Also, I was born with common sense, or at least that's what some speculate, and if I see it might be a little too personal I'd PM you the result first and ask if it's cool to post it. Guest analyzers. If you're a not-so-innocent bystander and want to try your hand at analyzing someone's dream too, feel free to PM me and I'll post what you wrote to me about someone's dream along with my analysis-post. If you want to do that anonymously, then I will credit you as Anon. Disclaimer. Heck, I'm not perfect and I most certainly do not know everything. But I love dreams and this is why I'm doing this. And also, I'm doing this for the fun of it. A simple guideline that will allow the mists of the Dreamworld to evaporate, enabling me to see the meaning more clearly. Do not post the dream you want analyzing here and in the Dreams thread. One of them will disappear. Also, non-dream posts will be removed. Cold, your request in the poll thread was noticed. I'll analyze those two dreams and will let you know what I think.

Su, could you interpret my last dream in the dream thread? The one about the Jack here in WDW? Oh, and I don't know if I mentioned this in my dream, but it might be important to your analysis of it. There are two guys who play Jack here at WDW. One is known as "the good Jack" and the other is known as "the bad Jack." I actually feel really sorry for "the bad Jack," because it's not really that he's bad. It's just that the other guy is so spot on. The guy in my dream was "the bad Jack." |

I'll play too, if and when you have the time. I'm curious about some details of the last dream I posted - this one. (I'd been watching a lot of 21 Jump Street, which undoubtedly influenced it.) |

There, the analyses are done, and it was fun! In a scientific way.
I'll stop to rhyme, there's just no time, I do not have all day. Ooookay, moving along. *puts on cloak of mystical powers* Man, that's just too itchy. *takes off cloak of mystical powers* It doesn't really work anyway, I have to replace its batteries first. Cold. I've PMed you about the two dreams, the one about the Japanese girl and the one with the bloodied woman following you. As for the 008 dream, I couldn't see any meaning in it except that you might have watched a lot of Bond movies beforehand. Monty. I've PMed PG. ![]() Tomb. That's quite a scary dream, luv. I think you've heard horrible stories about online predators and a part of you does not want to trust anyone online. Yet a part of you love the people you know online. (that's why it was someone dressed as Jack) That's confusing, but healthy. You fear what's behind the "masks" that you see online. Bars over the window of a soul = bars over window = prison, that means it's people with criminal tendencies that you are worried about. DutchS. When you were younger, you learned something about life, and it's coming back so you can see if you know the answer. You hate it when people think you know less than them and are out to prove them wrong. You probably feel like you want to make a fresh start in an area of your life. I think you start to feel like something is "out of order" in your life. (like the numerical order of the questions) I think that recently you looked back at how your life was and how you are now, and you notice the things that you went through and saw how they sculpted the person you are today. I've been thinking of changing a bit of how I'll operate. I first said that I would post a response without PMing first, but I found out that I can't bring myself to do that. My brain works in strange ways. So, I'll first PM anyone and everyone with results unless they state otherwise in their post.

I have something interesting. The past two nights I've had those weird dreams where you dream it's the next day so when you wake up you think it's a day later. But everyone has those. I think. Anyways, mine have been weird. Both times, I had forgotten something important that made the rest of the day very inconvenient. Then in real life I definitely remember that. Is this just my brain finally finding a way to cure my scatter-brainedness? Or something more? |

What do you think of this dream? It's the first one that I'm concerned about, although if you want to try to figure out the second one too, go for it. It freaked me out a little. Keep in mind I haven't lived with my parents in over 15 years, and it's been a long time since I've gone crying to my mother about something.

It took me a while again, but I'm back with the results.
Cold - I still have to PM you but you're not back yet. When I've PMed you and get the OK, then I'll edit your result in here. Tomby - Once again, you feel like true identities are hidden from you. You suspect an innocent one to be a pirate, yes, you suspect him to be the wonderful Jack, but Jack's a miscreant nonetheless. And then there was a sweet person who turned into the complete opposite. I think that you feel that sometimes you are wearing a mask to hide yourself from the world. They can't hurt you if they don't know the real you. But I'd suggest to take the plunge and let your true self show. You'll find that people will like the real you. And even if some don't, then it's their loss. Eye - I love those dreams! Not really the dreams themselves because they are nervewrecking, but I love their uniqueness. I get them occasionally. In my case they are mostly work-related (I still dream that I forget to take my American kids to school even though I've left them a few months ago) But I get the occasional ones where I forget to do something that I've promised someone. I see them as an underlying fear of letting someone down, either yourself of someone who's depending on you for something. I take responsibility seriously, and I suspect you do too. Otherwise your subconscious wouldn't fear not doing something and make such dreams. Li - I think you're afraid that a strong bond you have with someone will be broken and forgotten, or already has been broken and forgotten. It could be a childhood friend. I think you're trying to reach out to them again, and trying to remember the things you did while you were friends. Alternatively, this could be a piece of yourself that you've forgotten about and now you need it back but are unable to retrieve it. Brook - That sounds like a variation on the stereotypical "naked and everyone laughing" dream. But you're wearing pajamas and I can relate to that, we're very much alike. The dream is basically because of the fear of making a fool of yourself in front of people. They generally come a short while before you have to speak publicly, in this case I think that acting on stage or on camera might be involved. Or maybe the fact that it's pajamas it means that it's not such a big event, maybe just a one-on-one embarrassment with a specific person that you are worried about. |

Miscreant

OK I'll post this in here as the dream really disturbed me and continues to do so. It involves someone that I no longer speak to, we used to be very close but we fell out about 15 months ago, they moved away and I haven't seen them since. Yesterday their email address was a CC on a chain email my sister sent to me and a bunch of other people. The Dream I Had Last Night I don't remember the entire dream but it's this part that bothered me. This person was in a house with me. I had my back turned and they grabbed a serrated kitchen knife and as I turned to face them they stabbed me in the face. The knife sawed through my top lip, down through my bottom lip and about half a centimetre further down on the left side of my face. It didn't hurt much at the time but I felt the jagged blade ripping through the flesh and I know how much more damage serrated blades cause. I'd be very grateful for an analysis of this. Will |

Light - PMed you Will - I think it could be one of three kinds of dreams: It could be a dream about what you think might happen in the future. Or it could be a dream that tells you to be careful or it will happen. The third kind of dream that it could be, is an outlet for the feelings that resurfaced after seeing their name. I don't think this person would physically cut you with a kitchen knife (well, I really hope that they won't do that :() but I think it basically means that this person can use anything you say about them against you. I think it would be safest to avoid them completely (which would be easy if they stay where they moved to) or to not say anything about them to anyone. Most especially something that they could hear about and twist to use behind your back so they can alienate your friends from you. I would recommend not to reveal deep secrets to this person. I think they would trample what you tell them and cut you very deep. If it's the third kind of dream then it means that they've hurt you and betrayed you with their words in the past. And then when you saw their name again the feeling of betrayal came back to you in dreamform. Now, I don't want to make you paranoid, but I see it as one of the first two dreams. I could very well be wrong about this person, but I would recommend that they should first earn your trust over years and years, if ever, before you become close to them again. The fact that a knife was slicing your mouth tells me that words should be used very carefully. Wolf - I'll analyse your dream and PM you soon. I'm going to do something differently quickly. I had a dream a little while back that I need second opinions on. I think I know what it means, but I sort of need confirmation. Here's the dream: I was in a cafeteria of sorts and there was a guy and a girl and the guy looked smitten because of the girl, and they barely met. I was sitting at their table and they were sitting opposite each other while I sat next to the guy, and I was reading a book. The guy looked at me and whispered in my direction that he will one day get married to that girl and I wanted to make sure who he meant, so I whispered back "That one?" while pointing to her behind my book. (:ph43r: I'm a good spy ) And he nodded "yes". I was so ecstatic for their sake that I reached into my pocket and took out the only money I had with me, which was a R10 note. (10 Rand is roughly the equivalent of 1 British Pound) I told him to take my money and take her somewhere really special. And they thanked me while I said "Sorry, you'll just have to add more money to the R10." and they said they will. If anyone has any ideas what this could mean, please PM me. I just know it's got a very important meaning because it was very vivid, I can still see it all happening if I close my eyes and think about it.

"Mother's love, Jack! You should know better than to wake a man when he's sleeping. It's bad luck."

I'll analyze those two dreams and will let you know what I think.
