Today we celebrate that most holy of saints. The patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick. Today Guinness will flow like water and hangovers aren't something we'll have to deal with until tomorrow. Drink, drink and be merry for tomorrow we'll all feel like death warmed up! What do you have planned for St Paddy's day? Will |

Sadly, we South Africans do not celebrate St. Paddy's.
Maybe some South Africans do, but the day goes unnoticed for the most of us, there's not even a little mention of it on TV. I think the first time I even heard of St. Patrick's Day was a few years back while watching The Boondock Saints. (I'm living proof that TV and movies are educational :D) Well, with all that sadness thrown about, let me add cheerfully: Happy St. Patrick's Day!!![]() ![]() *does an Irish dance* |

It's funny how people only celebrate other countries' holidays when they involve alcohol, St. George took out a dragon, St. Patrick has booze, both have their own day yet which gets celebrated around the world? just a random observation, not sure what it says really, well apart from people use any excuse to get wasted on drink. ![]() Hope everyone has a good and safe one.

Me too. *thinks* No, actually I'd seen it in another movie before - I think it was "The Fugitive". But that didn't make a lot of sense to me at the time; "Boondock Saints" did more. But anyway... yay for education-by-movies. Since we don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day, I don't/didn't have any plans... I did just come back from celebrating my great-aunt's 90th birthday, and instead of me giving her something she gave me money, so... I celebrated. In a way. Happy St. Patrick's Day to all who it concerns (and the rest as well, why not). |

Wow. I didn't realize it was St. Patrick's day until just now. Some Irish person I am. I'm not 21 though so I can't get drunk, and we're having tacos for dinner, not corned beef and cabbage, so I'm not the only one in my house who dropped the ball. We used to celebrate it every year at my grandma's house and have corned beef and cabbage and lamb, but she passed away 2 years ago, so we don't do anything now. It kind of totally sucks, I like corned beef. |

Well I had a calm one this year, no going out and getting tanked on draught Guinness. Nope I had a nice, quiet night in with the other half, ordered Chinese, played Xbox and had a few nice bottled beers. I missed out on the Guinness hat this year but to look on the bright side, I also missed out on the hangover. I also found out earlier that Americans dye beer green for St Patrick's day. That's just wrong on so many levels. Your beer is bad enough without adding yet more chemicals to it. Green beer makes baby Jesus cry. Will |

I think the 4th of July is the exception to that...well, I mean for Americans anyway we celebrate it in three ways: grilling, drinking, and blowing things up. A truly American holiday...
We eat green eggs and ham, why not wash those down with some green beer?
By your beer, I'm assuming you mean "American beer" ? In some cases I would agree...(everyone ignore my birthday for about...um another eight months). But Coors...Bud...those ones are..well ,not to my tastes, and as a rule beer isn't to my tastes, I prefer fermented grapes, but Sam Adams is a decent beer. Reminds me of a joke relating to American beer and actions on a boat. I'd tell it but it isn't the most appropriate for little kiddies, so if people really want to know it they can PM me, and I'll tell you. A Happy belated St Patrick's day to everyone! |

Me and my friend woke up at 8 in the morning today. We had breakfast, and then we went to the bar and got piss drunk at 9 in the morning. Then we went to another bar, got even piss drunker. Rinse, and repeat for about 10 hours. I've won about $400 from drinking contests today. I'm going to feel horrible tomorrow... and I have to fly... |

Happy St Pats, everyone! A day late, but hey, it still counts
Being not of a drinking age, I didn't drink. Haha. But I still love St Pattys day, because everyone wears green and is all Irish-y and stuff. |

Well, this is a few days late, but since my internet was out ( <_< ), I can now tell y'all what happened for me on St. Patrick's Day. Well, I went to the Magic Kingdom. I wore a green shirt (wonder of wonders). Anyway, I watched Captain Jack's Pirate Tutorial three times that day (yeah, I'm obsessed. Anyway... ). So, the Pirate Tutorial has Jack and his assistant, Mack, teaching kids about how to be pirates. At the end Mack says something to the effect of, "These people are really loyal to you, they wouldn't turn you in even if they knew there was a king's ransom in gold as the price on your head." And Jack turns and goes, "You just told them, mate." Well, being St. Patrick's Day, Mack said, "No I didn't Captain," then turned to the crowd and said, "He's crazy, and he drinks, a lot, and this being St. Patrick's Day he thinks he's Irish." It was great. Then, later, at the end as Mack was closing everything up (after Jack had run backstage), he said, "Well, I think the Captain may have run off to a place you folks like to call 'EPCOT.' That's not a dry port like this one is." *laughter from the audience* "Ah, I see some of you adults know exactly what I'm talking about. I hope you have park hopper tickets. Besides, it's after five o'clock somewhere in the world, eh?" It was great.
I had never seen this Mack before. He was really funny.

Well, Im incredibly late, but coming from an Irish family I have to reply. We all got dressed up- I stole my brother's Irish jersey- and we headed up to a well-known bar in the harbour region and hung out there most of the night. Being underage, I didn't couldn't drink, but I managed to pass off as old enough to stay in the bar. Then we went back to my cousin's place and had ice-cream and mixed a few black velvets. The night was accompanied by an endless supply of Irish music, balloons (green white and orange, of course) and a man who looked so much like a leprechaun I couldn't help but stare. Yep, a very good night. |
