Okay, so only today I found out that they were making the sequel to my favorite computer game ever, and I sat down and watched through all the trailers...I have to say I'm really thrilled now that there is another coming out, even though the whole StarCraft Ghost was put on indefinite hold. I am a bit miffed that I missed it when the announcement's been out for ooh, a month or longer. Keeping up well with the times... But I'm psyched. I loved playing the Protoss, because they were quite easily one of the most powerful, and prior to Brood War, things were unfairly balanced in their favor I'd say. And watching their demo was just awesome. My favorite character from the first one (despite the fact that you had to annoyingly go and save him...a bit) was Tassadar and I was thrilled to hear one of the units go "En taro Tassadar" (or however it was spelled, I'm sure they came up with a standardized spelling for the Protoss language bit, but I'm not going to look it up, it's not that vital to my existence), and if memory serves the Protoss hero dude in the scout vessel...I'm drawing a blank on his name at the moment...Alteris, or something beginning with an "A" well anyway he said it a couple of times I think. Honoring their great hero, and I hope they keep that in the game when it's finally out. But Raynor totally was awesome. Not really as a unit, but as a character, he was hilarious. |

A second Starcraft? Awesome! I wonder if they will make a new type of people or alien. I have to agree with you that my favorites are the Protoss with the wicked fast building and zealots, but my favorite unit are ghosts. Put them in groups of bunkers and they are unstoppable, unless you have a nuclear missle. And I like Archons. In the expansion you can get Dark Templars and Archons. Oh, and I think the scout you were thinking of is called Fenix, but maybe he was a different guy. |

Actually it was Artanis, I went and looked it up, Fenix was the zealot/dragoon character--though he was pretty nifty. He may make it back for Star Craft II, which would be cool. And whatever they do, Raynor *has* to come back. He was just way too awesome of a character to lose. They actually have a demo video out--mostly dealing with the Protoss, and some stuff on the new units. I'm so glad they've introduced new units that can get around that high ground/low ground issue. It was a pain in the butt to always have to get a dropship or shuttle to ferry units up and down if there was no ramp.
The Dark Templars were cool, though once it starts becoming a predictable part of your strategy...*shrugs* Anyway, now most of my opponents tend to stick science vessels or observers everywhere because I used those a lot. They have a nice high-damage attack, but are a bit slow, but as long as you mix them with units that can take air units (like dragoons) they work well enough. The Protoss carrier was my favorite unit type though. Those were fun to decimate enemy units with. |

Guess what is an eternal joy(not). They are now making 3 parts to Starcraft 2. Because they are way off schedule and only have part of it done. First is the Terran part that comes early 2009. I don't know about the others. |

Hahaha. Oh, that figures!
 Dividing it into three parts is just...oh man. Is this announced officially on one of Blizzard's sites? But I have to say I'm not entirely surprised now, between SCII which they said would be coming out this year, and Diablo III also supposed to be due out in "early 2009." Even with two different teams working on these, I think Blizzard's stretching themselves a bit thin. |

Hmmm, that's interesting. I remember that they published a couple tie-in novels with it, and the first one was called Liberty's Crusade, about a journalist who covered a lot of the events from the Terran campaign (I don't remember a whole lot, so maybe I ought to go find it and dig it out and give it another go). Probably nothing to do with that, but Blizzard is usually pretty good in giving minor background characters a good chance. Though usually they get the bigger treatment in the books. But it seems an interesting name. Can't wait to actually play it though. My father and I did some StarCraft last night, and oh, man...I want those new units now. |

I want the units too. The one that I think I will like most is the one that is ground/air. I believe it was called a Viking but I might have it confused with something else. And also the graphics are gonna be tight. I never realized it but the first one had no light! Or at least shadows. I saw a picture of the new one in some desert place and there was a bright sun. Or I guess star but that sounds too weird because I think of stars as those tiny dots all alone far away in the universe. |

Well, almost a whole half year after the game is out, and I didn't bother to buy it. I really am not keep paying for one third of a game (in terms of the story) when that was one of the main motivators for my playing it. And given the direction Blizzard has gone with their graphics, and their utter obsession with making every male character look like they're on steroids, coupled with the required activation needing an internet connection, and the difficulty they seem to have added in for LAN gamers now...just not worth it. Besides, there are places online that do walkthroughs of computer games and you can catch the story easily enough through that if that is what you want. Now, its on to contemplating and probably not buying Diablo III, just like I have done for Starcraft II. |
