This here is my little profile, for all of you who want to know a little more about me to have a place to learn. ![]() I'm 17, going on 18, and I live in New York with my parents and my dog, Buddy. I live part time at my house and part time at my dance studio, the owner of which pretty much owns my soul at this point. At the studio, I do ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz, and I've also dabbled in theater jazz, contemporary, Africa, hip hop, and Latin ballroom. I've recently been starting my own choreography, a solo for my pointe-obsessed friend and a pirate-themed solo for myself that I plan to showcase at next year's recital. I've been dancing since I was 11, but writing since I was four, and I one day hope to publish! But that requires actually finishing a novel...Which, one of these wonderful NaNoWriMos will actually help me accomplish...I hope. I also ride horses! I really, really love horses and am soon going to be starting volunteering at a local barn for therapeutic horseback riding. I can't wait to work with the kids and the animals! And now for the not so happy part of my story...My brother was born prematurely when I was 8. He came home from the hospital just a few days before my 9th birthday. Three months later, we took him to the doctor's, and straight from there to the hospital, and then to another hospital. He was put on a vent and given a feeding tube and a myraid of other things. I lived with my grandparents during the weekend, the home near the hospital on the weekends, and at my own house periodically. He came home six months later. We had a team of nurses and therapists, all of whom became really close to my brother and my family, that were at the house round the clock to help with his care. We moved to a new town (although, luckily, I didn't have to change schools because of the private school system I'd been in since I was 5) in the middle of my fifth grade year, so that we would have more room for my brother's equipment. When I was 11, he died at the age of 3 1/2. His birthday is coming up soon. He would have been 10. He was everything to me, I loved him so much, and I wish more than anything that I could have taken his place. He was too young. He didn't deserve what happened to him. But, now that I look back, I realize how much he really did help everybody that crossed his path. Everyone remembers him for the smiling, happy boy that he was. We all share the happy stories, all the good times. Back to happy things! I like music and movies, and will pretty much listen to and watch everything. My favorite bands are Taking Back Sunday, Poets of the Fall and Sixx:A.M. My favorite movies are The Dark Knight, the POTC series, Near Dark and Aladdin. I also like reading! That kind of comes with the territory of being a writer. My favorite books are the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger, To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee and On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers. I have a tendency to not care what anybody thinks about me, or says about me, but if you insult my friends you're dead. I care about my best friends as if they were my sisters, and will defend and help them at all costs. Same goes for my family, and my dog. To be perfectly honest, I like my dog more than most people. You know that show It's Me Or the Dog? Yeah, I would pick the dog. I speak English and Spanish, know a sprinkling of Chinese and would like to learn Romanian, Japanese and Italian. And I like to bake. And I'm addicted to apple juice, and chocolate milk. I firmly believe in ghosts, mainly because my best friend has lived in a haunted house since we were five, and only recently moved out of it. I like butterflies. I want a tattoo. And that is really all. Cookies to all who read the whole thing!
