I can't say that I am impressed with the Android OS. I'm currently downloading 11 updates and hardly a day goes by without updates.

Updates are optional on Android.

You can set Android to automatically download updates and not notify you or you can turn off automatic downloads and turn the notifications off. Then it will be as if they don't exist. If you go into Google Play and click My Apps, it will show you a long list of updates that are available but you can ignore them. I tend to download .apk files from the internet and store them on my handset. That way, you have one version all the time. :goofy:

iOS on the other hand - that's a different ball game. If you don't update iOS apps, a red badge appears on the App Store icon telling you how many updates there are. There is no way to get rid of this red badge other than to download the updates. The next time you update the iOS software (and iOS updates are frequent), your not-updated apps probably won't work. If you plan to keep the old version of iOS, Apple have other plans for you. A red badge notification appears on your settings app that can not be removed (only by updating your iPhone) and banners will periodically appear telling you that an iOS update is available. If you STILL don't download it, they will eventually automatically download the update for you without you knowing. So if your phone has 16GB on it but there's only 11GB available, Apple will automatically download the iOS update which sits buried on your device and cannot be deleted, bringing your storage down to 10GB.

I am duel booting Ubuntu with Antegeros. I love the Linux package managers they are so great. Ubuntu and the Debian distros' use APT and Antegeros, Arch, ArchBang, Manjaro use Pacman.

I'll show the Pacman package manager later.
