"If you want to travel the Way of Buddhas and Zen masters, then expect nothing, seek nothing, and grasp nothing." Dogen "I am the vine,ye are the branches: He that abideth in me and I in him,the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." John 15:5 “Here is the test of truth: anything that makes you weak, physically, intellectually and spiritually, reject it as poison, there is no life in it – it cannot be true.” - Swami Vivekananda "God plus mind is you. Jane: Elle Bee why are you interested in Sasquatch? They don't exist you know? Elle Bee: They said the same about the gorilla at one time. |

Ai carumba. No, no, no. Look at its gait as it walks. It's actually strolling along, swinging its arms. Fully bipedal. Yet covered in hair from head to toe. There's a theory that bipedalism and a reduction in hair cover went hand in hand. Bipedalism allows us to travel efficiently over long distances and as we left the forest canopy and started to spend time on the ground in open terrain, we were vulnerable to the hot sun beating down on us. So, those of us with less hair could deal with the heat better and spend more time out in the open, ranging over long distances during the day. No fully bipedal hominid would have such a large covering of hair, if this theory is true. That is just one example of why it's not only improbable, but nigh impossible that there is an ancestral throwback wandering the wild in America. Edited by Piquant, Sep 23 2012, 12:34 AM.

It would also have to be breeding successfully with another sasquatch, producing offspring that are also fertile. Inbreeding = higher risk of harmful mutations being expressed in the offspring = less chance of offspring being able to successfully reproduce. So there would have to be variation in the sasquatch population to sustain it for generations which means there would be several of these things living in proximity to each other. If this were the case one would have been caught by now. |

I like the idea of a large and intelligent creature roaming the forests of North America. I would like proof of their existence, but on-the-other-hand I hope they are never discovered. Science would experiment upon them and within 50 years of their discovery they would be on the 'endangered' list, and probably extinct after 100 years. Edited by Cat's Pyjamas, Sep 23 2012, 03:58 PM.

If you are sceptical about Sasquatch Jane then you'll love the Michigan/Wisconsin Dogman. ![]() |
