Actually, painkillers I 'get.' Pain is quantifiable. Bullshit made-up disorders like 'social anxiety' are not.
Anxiety manifests itself physically. The physical symptoms are quantifiable, just like pain. The brain is a complex organ and has the ability to bring on symptoms just from the thoughts and feelings you're having.

Probably the first thing you've said all night that actually makes sense. However, these physical symptoms can be managed through non-chemical remedies.

Not when they're extreme and need to be quelled in a short amount of time to make you able to function and earn an income. Remedies like meditation and deep-breathing can help, agreed, but they take a long time to kick in and for your thought patterns to be re-trained. That's why meds are a preferable solution.

No, and that's where some people use them as a crutch instead of putting in the hard work with therapy and overcoming their anxiety. The idea isn't to live on them for the rest of your life, it's to use them in conjunction with therapy to get yourself out of a funk and having healthier thought processes.

Btw if you've used painkillers then you are a weak pussy cunt shot cunt weakling.

"Drugs are for fucking weak people. Grow a fucking pair and deal with your problems head on."

Says the borderline alcoholic. The mind is capable of being in far more pain than your over exercised wrist ever will be.

Fuck off.

Fighting something only empowers that thing. Try and step back and look at your anxiety as calmly as possible, what is it trying to tell you? It will speak to you if you let it Jane. Be prepared though your anxiety might be telling you something that you don't want to hear. Your anxiety will keep coming back stronger and more frequently if you don't listen to its message. Once you do though it will vanish.
Check out Ingrid Bacci's book The Art of Effortless Living.

I know that anxiety can be utterly debilitating as I went through a period in January 2012 where I felt the most intense anxiety! Something good came out of that terrible month long episode. I stopped believing and acting upon the thoughts that were in my head. I saw just how much of an enemy my mind was. This realisation made me place more value on messages and signs coming from my body. Have you ever felt a strong desire to eat but realised that the while your mind hungered for food you body was sending signs that it wasn't hungry? The mind should only be used for planning and preparation and studying, if you are not doing any of these things at the moment then be guided by your instincts and listen carefully to your body and its signs.

Haha wow Mark is a DOUCHEBAG. A really stupid one. Who knew. Except everyone. Not even going to acknowledge any of his fuckwitted ( and, totally ironic, considering he is obviously heavily dependent on alchohol,) shit.

I suffer from anxiety a fair bit. I go through episodes. I have beta-blockers to take when I feel the need or have panic attacks. I took some for my presentation the other day and it was such an indescribable relief.

I think you're doing the right thing, Jane. And it's obviously working for you. So don't let anyone make you feel guilty or weak for wanting to live life the way you deserve.

Below, where is your boat?
You are slow, you are slow
From where I stand
I can see the curvature of the Earth
And I want to make it flat
I will play, the sky is black
