Hopefully, this goes better than the WBO version. What's going on? How's your day? Have you been hit by a random wave of inspiration? Are you disappointed in how a story came out? Watching anime? Listening to music? *cough*Natsuko Aso*cough* Pissed off about misspellings? (I normally am.) Say it out loud for the world the hear! Or at least PenPad Forums. Let 'em fly! |

Nwolf did not participate in the first tournament. Actually, you didn't do any of them besides the tag-team one. Also: I'm a bit happier than I normally am. I've been doing quite well, despite school starting. I've caught on with debate faster than expected, Marek_Intan is my debate partner, and I think I aced my Spanish 1 test today. Probably. Also: Does anyone has any knowledge of Winston Churchill's 1940 speech, "There has never been so much owed by so many to so few"? I've got an analysis to do, and I wonder if I could post it here later, but I don't want to post anything that'll go over people's heads. |

So today, my package finally arrived...I got an authentic Lord of the Rings ring (Size 7 - really small, haha) with a free chain and drawstring mini pocket-bag. It has the elvish engravings on it, too. Just today, there were already 3 times my brother tried to steal it from me. It was pretty predictable though, because he'd shout "MY PRECIOUS!" right before he made an attempt for it. I still gotta be careful with it, though, haha. |

Geez. Debate today went horribly. Marek_Intan and I made octo-finals (securing a spot in the city championships), but lost to some team that thought there were 50 states in the 1770's. Lost 2-1 at that. The one judge that voted for us was the only one who knew what she was doing. THEN, as we're explaining to the varsity members why we lost, our coach says: "Shut up, you're annoying people". Way to help us out, Coach. Way to be a supportive role model. Mind you, we're the only JV team from our school to go to octos. Sort of disheartening that all this happened after what is, to me, an utterly crushing loss two tournaments in a row. Honestly, I'm sick of hearing "you still did well" or "Maybe next time" or "It was close". Especially that last one. You think that HELPS? No, it doesn't. It makes me feel worse. A coin flip determined our fate at the beginning of the round, for chrissakes, and I chose wrong. Of COURSE saying it was close makes me feel like crap! Why wouldn't it? All in all, bad day. Edward's a much better sport than I am. I damn near cried, and forgot to shake the other team's hand. I joined debate to WIN, not to lose close ones and feel proud I hung on. |

I'm a terrible sport when a team I'm on loses by a very thin margin. If we're completely destroyed, I'm perfectly civil, and don't care. If we win in any way, I'm perfectly civil. But, if the refs/judges are incompetent, that riles me in a bad way. I want someone who understands what's going on to judge my performance. |

For all I care, the plaque they gave us can just go up the other two judges' arses. At the same time, preferably, but I understand that to be physically impossible. But, hey, it was fun. And, besides, next time, we'll have custom files to help us out against them, and we'll have filed a judge abuse claim on the two bad judges. That should make things a lot easier for us. You talk to a girl by simply opening your mouth in her direction, willing your vocal cords to make a sound, and use your tongue to adjust and articulate the sounds. All joking aside, talk to her like you'd talk to one of your friends. And don't be too crass; that's just a coupon to get slapped. Or friendzoned. Also, don't gawk her. It'll just creep her out. |

Some kid humiliated a mentally retarded basketball player at the Y Saturday. It's sad. The guy finally gets an open shot, and some kid comes from the stands to block it while the coaches weren't looking. The kid who get blocked isn't that good, but he's pretty intense. I can see he tries to get to the same level as everyone else, despite not really having the tools. But that's just demoralizing. THIS is why I don't like people. That guy had nothing to do with the game, and he took it upon himself to block the kid's shot. He's tall, so my uncle said he'd help the boy out so that wouldn't happen again, but it never should have been an issue. Though, lucky for the kid, now he's got a retired pro player (my uncle played for about six years in Europe) to help him out. |

Now that's just cruel...I hate it when people do stuff like that, it just gets under my skin. I personally have a few friends with disabilities, so maybe it's an empathy thing. Still, I just won't stand for it. Ergh. In other news, somehow, someway, the Jets actually have a shot at the wildcard berth...bet no one saw that coming, eh? |

Give them two weeks. With Sanchez, they'll go right back to being the Jets. With McElroy, then maybe they stand something that loosely resembles the start of an outside shot at sniffing the playoffs. |

Welp... I'm single again. Not exactly sure what happened, to be honest. I guess somewhere along the line we essentially went back to being friends. (Plus, after a while I got the feeling that we were better friends than anything more.) And...she cried. Which sucks, but you can't just say "Forget what I just said! I was joking! Please don't cry!" (I wanted to.) But my ex and I are still on good terms. At least it lasted over a year, which is much longer than most expected. |

I want you guys' opinion. You all know I'm on the debate team with Marek Intan. We're having a discussion on facebook, and the idea of critiquing people who speak too fast came up. So should we come up with a case against people who intentionally speak too fast for people to understand? One of the members (and a co-captain) says that it's stupid. I say that it's a fair idea. Just wanted outside opinion. |

My thought exactly. I figured that it'd be pointless to try to argue against something you don't understand. I already have tossed some of my morals and wrote up a super-generic counterplan. I love the thing, but I hate generic arguments. So I may as well finish it, then go the whole nine yards. If I'm already ditching the core files, why not finish the job? |

I've noticed over my time on the internet just how much people will shirk responsibilities and ignore commitments. I know for a fact that I've been guilty of this on multiple occasions; I let my own forum go under due to real-life commitments, unfortunately. However, there are some people who are more guilty of it than others, I think. Especially people who repeatedly sign up for tournaments and the like, and then just ignore that, or don't do the work, and make everyone else suffer because of it. Just look at the WBO Writing Tournament (Revival): of 13 contestants, only 4 entries have been received on THE FINAL DAY. I'm sure that some people are crafting their masterworks (like Temp admitted to doing), but some people hadn't even started until this weekend; I doubt that some people have even started as of yet. Honestly, it's really disappointing to me, not just because I really want this tournament to pull through, but because there are people out there who try and get what they're assigned done early, and well. Anyway, I'm sure that the people who submit their entries (I assume that it'll be me, Noodoo, Temp, a couple of others) will do a spectacular job of them (except for mine, though. Mine's, upon rereading, kind of trash, hah). Good luck to all the participants, and sorry for posting this here. I needed to vent a little about human nature. [/rant] |

Agreed. I had to rewrite mine because One: I had a bye. Two: It was five pages. But it seems like people never actually try to do things they commit to because they're "too hard" to do easily. I don't like when people give no effort when a select few people are trying hard. |

Blargh. I realized again why I dislike most people. Apparently, some kid with a history of police run-ins was mocked by their police chief on facebook. He then proceeded to kill himself. Now, why in the world would this idiot even do such a thing, as to mock a kid who is obviously going through some tough stuff. But he's not the person with whom my beef lies. Nope. There were people CONGRATULATING this guy! Apparently, the kid is weak because he was already suffering from depression, and this cop guy made it worse. Commenting idiots everywhere blamed it all on the kid time and time again, saying the cop should be promoted and such. That's the state of society right now. A kid kills himself, and the person who served as the last straw should be promoted. Is it a surprise that I hate people? No. Because idiots like this exist for some reason or another. It's stupid. I just can't stomach the thought of a kid committing suicide at 19, and people saying that he did it so he wouldn't go to jail. For a few misdemeanor charges. No felonies or anything. But people can say things like "One more felon off the streets." And you know what? I mentioned this with my family, because I was concerned. They gave not one damn. I know the Trayvon Martin case is important. Cool. I hope Zimmerman goes to jail forever. He likely won't, given the charges, but I hope he does. But that isn't the only case out there. Just because the kid isn't black doesn't mean black people shouldn't care. And this is gonna sound mean and quite angry, but how the hell can black people ONLY come "together" during crap like this? For example: Black people always claim to have their own unique culture. They pretend to care about other black people. And yet over the holiday weekend 14 BLACK citizens were shot by other black citizens. And these same people claim to be empathetic with Martin. No, you just want a racism case. And I hate that. Injustice is injustice, regardless of color. Why is black-on-black crime any worse than white-on-white crime? It's not. It's CRIME. But people don't get this, so I'm forced to vent on a Random Thoughts page, simply because most people are too idiotic to understand even simple things like that. tl;dr: I hate people. |

The tournament on the WBO is somehow actually going well! Of course, most of the credit goes to Sparta and the judges. It is unfortunate that Insomniac and Noodoo had to go up against each other so early, though. Had Insomniac switched places with a weaker writer, then this tournament would be THAT much more interesting. |

Well, about the WBO Tournament: it begins now. It's unfortunate that we couldn't have both Insom and Noodoo take part in this round. I've got the feeling that we're going to be seeing some really high-quality stories from here on in. However, I plan to take it all the way. I honestly want to battle Temp so bad, it's ridiculous. We've missed two or three battles with each other (the first because I got sick during prep for the Yu-Gi-Oh fanfic battle, and the other because I didn't see the first WBO tournament), so this has been a long time coming. Good luck to all participants, and I expect to have socks flying off my feet during the next rounds! |

Agreed. I want to go up against almost everyone left, but you and Noodoo are at the top of that list. Win or lose, I feel like it would be the most invaluable experience so far in our careers as writers. Even more so than NaNoWriMo. I am disappointed at the way the brackets turned out, but they WERE random, it seems. I do plan on competing to win, though. Just because I have no issue with losing to certain members (Not to be arrogant, but I would be highly disappointed to lost to anyone but Noodoo or Odin) doesn't mean that I don't want to win. That bye round was good for shaking off the rust, and I can't help but view Odin's matchup as anything BUT a warm-up. (It just didn't seem like a real battle to me. I think we all fully expected Odin to move on after the first round. Being completely honest, I was convinced he'd advance before even reading the other entry.) |

Bah! School starts Monday! Summer's pretty much over for me, it seems. I feel like I was more productive than usual, but it's still sad to see a summer you'll never get back go. Besides, I'm kinda not interested in senior year. More for the social aspect, for once. High school is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, obviously. Once you graduate, chances are that you won't see many of those friends again. Since I might leave the country for college, it gets even worse for me. I find it kinda sad. Anyway, we've got to write two 15-page essays on a self-chosen topic for a Research class this year. I'm fishing for a topic, but this is gonna be fun! |
