"I think you can guess I don't like mundane ones. As for science, what else can it be but practical when we always use it to understand ummm...everything?" Michael nodded, he could definitely see that. If Hakuro wasn't terribly interested in the dull parts of history, he'd probably find the more 'normal' literature works a little dry. "That's how I've always understood science. It's the only way we can really be sure about the world we live in, and while it's not always perfect every single step and failure teaches us something we didn't know five minutes ago. If it weren't for physics we'd never have gotten someone in space, let alone put a robot on a new planet." This was something he really liked about the subject was that it was constantly changing. No, not changing, being revised was more likely. The fact that the way we looked at the world was always under scrutiny was a good thing and helped ensure that what was put out was most likely true. It made him feel a little more secure, really. He then quickly realized that he could be boring his conversational partner. "I'm starting to sound like the teacher you've been escaping, aren't I?" |

If it weren't for physics we'd never have gotten someone in space, let alone put a robot on a new planet." "Which, in turn, is one reason why I've always liked travel and exploration. Because...discovery was a magnificent thing, going somewhere and seeing something you've never seen before. It could be a most awe-inspiring sort of thing. Of course, that was only ONE of the reasons he was into that, and all things made to interest him. The other was the boredom factor. Hakuro didn't just get bored. Living in Okinawa made him isolated, lacking many friends or anywhere to go. He had been isolated, drowning so to speak. He hated that. "I'm starting to sound like the teacher you've been escaping, aren't I?" "Not at all. More like one of the other cooler ones." He didn't have it out for ALL teachers, otherwise his grades would be horrible. No, just the ones that didn't hold his interest. It was definitely a bit odd, but at least Hakuro was consistant if nothing else in life. Edited by Nyarlathotep, Feb 28 2014, 03:19 PM.

Hakuro was interested in traveling, huh? Michael guessed that must have played heavily into why he left for the US. Michael was then caught off guard by Hakuro's next statement. "Not at all. More like one of the other cooler ones." "Well, that's good at least. Though I wonder about your sense of 'cool' if I fit the category." Michael said, smiling. As the two finally made it to the offices and walked in, Michael took a quick glance around. "Huh, guess he's not here right now. Hang on a second." He pulled out his notebook and dug around his left pocket for a pencil, quickly scrawling a note onto the notepad. When he was finished he ripped out the page and put it in a place easy to see and left the flash drive on top. The note read 'File given. Here's the drive back. -Michael'. |

No marks for guessing on his reasons for hitting the US, I'm afraid. True, that snagged his interest, but it was more for a personal reason than to do with his habits and hobbies. As with many things, although not quite the context you'd be thinking, it had to do with a girl. He was offered a shot at this school because of a deed he'd done back in Japan. Long story, and not really up for debate right now. "Well, that's good at least. Though I wonder about your sense of 'cool' if I fit the category." "Maybe you're being too hard on yourself. Lots of people are." Soon, they came to an empty office - which Michael had hoped was full, of course - and stepped in for a moment. Because it wasn't full, he had to write a note and leave the flashdrive behind. Mind you, if just anyone could walk in at any time, it could easily be stolen too. Ah well, maybe they had better sense in the university. "So, what's life like on this side of the campus?" He had to ask because it was probably different from even a Japanese college campus...which he'd never been to anyway. |

"So, what's life like on this side of the campus?" That was...a difficult question to answer. Not because he didn't know the school but perspective-wise it didn't really help. Michael thought about that for a few seconds and came to an answer. "I guess 'interesting' seems close enough. It's not really that different from what you've experienced here, I don't think. The biggest difference is that my schedule is more fluid...and waitlists become something like a mortal enemy." The description wasn't too far off, though it probably wasn't exactly accurate either. However, that thing about waitlists was definitely true. Michael didn't truly understood the idea of an 'all-nighter' until he was up at 4:30 in the morning waiting for his registration slot to open so he wasn't forced to just take whatever was left. |

"I guess 'interesting' seems close enough. It's not really that different from what you've experienced here, I don't think. The biggest difference is that my schedule is more fluid...and waitlists become something like a mortal enemy." "That sounds alot like certain aspects of my life." He was looking the place over, of course, nodding here and there at things he saw. On the surface, he looked like just an ordinary person interested in his surroundings. On the inside, he was wearing his hat and coat like an investigator again. Hakuro may not have had those items on him right now, but they were a part of his personality, one could say. "See, I was bored alot back home before my parents let me travel around. You don't know 'mortal enemy waits' until you're sitting on an island with not much to do. Fortunately, it got better. I could move around, manage my own time... I got through most of school transferring here and there until here I am." Here he was, on special invite, in a whole new country to look into. How could he ever resist? |

I could move around, manage my own time... I got through most of school transferring here and there until here I am." Michael nodded, though didn't quite agree with the statement. Personally he found some stillness to be a good thing. That occasionally it could help clear someone's head or help them think. Though, when someone doesn't have any choice but do nothing he could see how that could get old quickly. "So, what do you think of the University half?" |

Well, to appreciate Hakuro's personal view of the situation, you have to live like him. Stillness was something he avoided because he had an overactive imagination that - as a boy - was starving for fuel so badly that he needed to create his own fun or possibly lose it. Still, that was his business. No sense worrying others about what might've been...or been NOT, as the case may be. "So, what do you think of the University half?" "Well, it looks alright. I think a guy could get lost around here, so...fun!" He laughed, mindful of all the trouble he was probably getting into, but then they probably couldn't really understand the problem of Point A. A lack of stimulation for him was a bad thing. |

"Well, it looks alright. I think a guy could get lost around here, so...fun!" Michael grinned again. "Yeah, that's true. I still explore this place and I remember doing it my first week here. Of course there's also the bad side of that coin when I wound up in a panic my first day and couldn't remember where any of the classrooms I had were. Which is weird since I make it a habit to look for the classes early so that doesn't happen." |
