I need some tutoring...(Andy and Kanade)

Much to Andy's annoyance and irritation, as he hated having to take extra classes, both his mother, his elder sister and the school board thought it would be a good idea if Andy had some after hours tutoring with a new teacher. As a result of that Andy was here, at school after hours stuck bored in an empty class room fiddling with his cards, while the sun lazily drifted in and out of cards. "I wanna go home..." Andy said to himself as he rested his head on the desk, sulking from boredom; the teacher wasn't even hear yet and he had pretty much nothing to do on account of having nothing to do and while yes there where always his cards..there was only so many times you could shuffle them. Back to the subject of Andy's personal feelings about this situation, as I wish to expand a little on that with detail, he was feeling annoyed and rather grumpy; he didn't want to be here and honest to god did not actually feel like he needed to be at this stupid after school lesson. Despite that though, the only reason why Andy had even agreed to show up in the first place was because he had heard that this teacher was really nice and understanding and while that had worked in getting him to show up here in the first place, Andy was now starting to question why he had fallen for such an obvious ploy. Sighing to himself the young boy turned his head and looked out at the clouds in the sky, finding himself jealous of such things as unlike him clouds where free and got to float around with out any worries; oh such a life seemed so easy. Anyway...being drawn back to existence by the sounds of foot steps coming down the hallway Andy groaned to himself and sat up still looking utterly bored out of his mind wondering if this damn teacher would show up soon.

Kanade had received the request the evening before she left from school by one of the teachers, considering Kanade's grade mark, she was the perfect choice to have been chosen for this task, one that required the patience of a saint, the wisdom of a monk, the knowledge of a professor, and the Willpower of a hero from an anime.
She was chosen, to tutor a special needs child.
She was explained by the teacher that the child had a bit of a learning problem due to a mental disability he had, which she had read a little bit on, but nothing that was very accurate.

Here she was, as she walked through the doors in the classrooms of her underclassmen, and the boy sat there fiddling with some cards. She'd lie if she said she wasn't nervous, but she breathed in, knowing what she had to do, and walked over towards the boy as she asked him,
"Excuse me, are you Andy Snooks by any chance?" As he would look upon her, the first thought would be 'did an angel just fall from heaven?' Skin, pure and light looked almost silky to touch, almost untainted by the sun's rays, golden eyes that practically looked as though they could hypnotise somebody just by looking at them, long silver hair that looked as smoothe as silk. As for the rest of her appearance, she seemed so youthful, as expected from a teenager her age.
"I'm Kanade Tachibana, I was requested by the staff to help tutor you, it's a pleasure to meet you." She told him, as she moved one of the tables next to him and sat down in a chair, so she'd be closer to him.

Andy was really really starting to get irritated...like very irritated, but luckily just as he was considering leaving and going home somebody arrived walking in through the door obviously attracting Andy's attention, evidenced by the fact he looked at the door. However, as Kanade looked like a teacher Andy's initial response was that it was just another teenage student who had been forcibly assigned to this stupid class like Andy had been. On a separate note, the fact there was another student here actually really pissed Andy off, mainly because he had been told this was a one to one set up and in fact had been promised that by his family, so the appearance of a second student really did anger him as Andy hated being lied to. Of course the appearance of a second person carried with it the risk of being forced to be social, or worse still the risk that Andy could be bullied and this paranoid fear was only worsened when the white haired teenager approached Andy. "Umm..yes I am" was Andy's answer as the kid packed away his cards, not wanting this teenager to realise what they where, and looked up at Kanade. Other people may have actually believed that she had the looks of an angel from heaven and while this writer won't deny other people find that true, Andy just plan didn't care. Much to Andy's surprise this teenager, who looked to be about the same age range as him, was in fact the teacher he was being forced to study under.

How did Andy feel about this would be a good question to ask at this point and honestly, he was rather surprised by the identity of this Kanade teenager and the fact that she was actually the one to tutor him; honestly Andy had been expecting one of the older teachers at the school or perhaps somebody with special training but eh, if the school thought Kanade was suitable then so be it. When the silver haired girl sat down on a chair near Andy his only real response was to fidget a little looking at her with distrust and fear, which wasn't because of anything personal towards Kanade but simply due to Andy's poor past experiences which wasn't something you could blame on him. Anyway, with that out of the way the only real issue left to address would be Andy's verbal response to what Kanade would say, which like many things the card game playing kid said would come off as rather shy and insecure, mainly due to how being bullied had ruined his self-esteem over the years but eh, what can you do? "Umm...okay...hello" that was all Andy could really muster as a response, after all experience and his life up until this point had taught Andy that he should NEVER trust a stranger until they had proven themselves, regardless of how nice they acted ad like I said before that was nothing personal against Kanade who actually seemed kind of cute not that it registered to Andy beyond a simple fact.

Curiously enough she looked over what he had been doing, stuffing what looked to be some sort of card game in his pockets, it did not really matter that much, afterall, her main job was to make sure to tutor him efficiently, not worry about his hobbies for now.

The quickest and most efficient way for her to determine his problems in class is to figure out what he is confused about in the classroom.
"May I ask which classes you are exactly having troble in Andy?"

From Andy's point of view it was actually a good thing that Kanade hadn't asked about his cards, after all he was much too afraid about being ridiculed or made fun of to openly converse about them but on the other hand Andy actually found himself a little bit upset Kanade hadn't asked, Andy wasn't sure why he felt like that but for some strange reason he did. And here came the difficult part....okay, well if Kanade really wanted to know what classes Andy struggled in the only real answer would be the truth but sadly the truth was kind of embarrassing. "Well uhm.....I struggle in all of my lessons except English" Andy sighed a rather audible sigh of defeat and with good reason; after all it was very shameful for any student to be below average in every class except one and that one class Andy did well in was English. The reason why Andy did better in English compered to his other classes was something unknown, after all the card game nerd of a kid didn't really understand it himself but over the years he had formed a best guess; this best guess was that it was something related to him being on the Autistic Spectrum but honestly... it was kind of hard to prove, sure modern science had been able to diagnose him with it successfully but fully mapping out what causes the brains electrical signals wasn't really easy, or in theory it was but Andy was only a child so............

All subjects except english, this boy had a lot to work on then, so she figured at the time, the best starting approach was to look at his current homework and study subjects that he had.
Which she told him immediately,
"Alright, lets just start on your homework you have, have you started any of it right now? Was a simple question, but it would help her to deduce what needed to be done and what he was lacking in if she could look over his homework.

Ah..homework..well, see normally that would be a problem as Andy hated homework with a passion and while he wanted to just ditch it and leave it home, Alexis, and of course Andy's mother, had convinced him to bring his homework with him. However, despite having brought the homework with him though Andy hadn't actually started any of it but tat wasn't due to any sense of laze or irresponsibility. The truth of the matter was that Andy had actually attempted to do his homework, but simply just..didn't get it and as he didn't have anyone around who could explain it as well as a teacher could, Andy tended to struggle greatly at his homework. "Huh? Oh uhm no..." reaching down to the black leather satchel on the ground Andy opened it and removed a folder, taking his homework out and placing it on the table. The actual homework he had to do was maths, science and geography, with maths being the most difficult due to how bad Andy was with remembering large quantities of numbers.

Kanade scanned over the homework, the maths she could start with, might as well get it out of the way,
"Lets start with your math right now." And thus would begin the studying procedure between Andy and Kanade, though it wasn't long before Kanade had noticed the boy's lack of interest in the homework, or maybe instead, it was a lack of focus that he had trouble simply paying attention. She tried to gaze into him to figure out exactly why he was having such an issue with the work, then she remembered that she was told his mental disorders, she'd have to be rather careful with how she handles this.
"Are you alright?" She asked him, as she tried to look into his eyes.

Oh god, why did she have to say maths first?! No no no! Andy hated maths, it was annoying, irritating and just plain impossible for him to do and there was no god damn way in hell that the young kid would do ANY of his maths work. The reason why Andy hated mathematics with such a powerful fury was because of how bad he was at it, and while I'm aware that is at least partly due to his refusal to try, he have a genuine reason; his ADHD. Now, as a result of his ADHD Andy suffered from poor concentration and struggled with memory and recollection when it came to large amounts of numbers which was why he always wrote everything down when doing maths, but that led to him getting confused and then flustered which just made any attempt at mathematics doomed to fail. Plus why the hell did Andy even need to learn this? He knew how to times, divide, add and subtract which was pretty much all he thought that he'd ever need hence why Andy refused to do it.

Begrudgingly Andy looked through the pile of homework and pulled out the mathematics work sheets, leaving them out on the desk for Kanade to look through. The homework wasn't anything too complicated, at least if you weren't Andy anyway, and was simply finding out the area and perimeter or a few different triangles, square and rectangles.Oh boy, when Kanade asked if Andy was all right she had opened up a huge metaphorically huge can of worms. "No I'm not" Andy answered sharply as he huffed, folding his arms and look down at the desk refusing eye contact with Kanade. So far Andy didn't like her, she was making him do the one type of homework that he HATED endlessly and as a result of that Andy didn't like Kanade either; it was childish as can be but Andy was a childish person and so could you really blame him for it? Personally I vote no, as it's due to emotional immaturity due to stress that was caused by his ADHD and how difficult it made his school life, not to mention his home life.

He was rather, blunt about it, she couldn't say she was an expert at tutoring, but she expected the student to be more, thankful than spiteful towards her. She let out a small sign as she asked him afterwards, needing confirmation,
"Whats wrong then? Are you thirsty?" She couldn't tell what was wrong with the boy at all, only confirming that he had some sort of agitation towards him, so maybe it'd help if he had something to drink to calm himself down.

See, if Andy had chosen to actually attend this tutoring session then yes, he would be a lot more thankful but unfortunately he had been forced to and that was the source of his spite, although while technically none of it was Kanade's fault Andy still viewed her as a symbol of what he hated. What was wrong; a simple question as honestly there wasn't really anything wrong with Andy, or at least nothing beyond him being pissed off and irritated which honestly you couldn't exactly solve. "No..I want to go home" there, Andy had truthfully and honestly answered Kanade's question, and so went back to simply glaring at his home work unhappy to A.Be stuck here against his will and B.Being forced to do maths homework of all things and yes, Andy did hate maths with a passion in case you hadn't figured that out yet.

Already saying he wanted to go home. She closed her eyes and let out a small sigh. Though she knew at a certain point he'd loose his focus and stop trying to do anything, she did not expect him to simply give up without even trying to do anything. She had to find some way to motivate this kid. Obviously he doesn't concern himself very much with his grades as it is, so she had to find some way to interest him in it. Then she remembered having noticed the cards that he stuffed into his pocket. From there, she had an idea that might motivate his interest further than possible.
"Do you know why Algebra is important?" She asked him, afterall, it was a question she had asked before, and had it answered in a way that simply made sense.

Like with a lot of other teachers Andy had met through out his life time Kanade was already sighing, which honestly wasn't that big of a bother for Andy as he knew when teachers sighed, they started to get annoyed with eventually lead to them giving up and Andy knew when a teacher gave up they stopped trying to make him do work, which was the last thing Andy wanted. Anyway, for some reason Kanade asked the young red eyed boy why algebra was important and honestly..Andy didn't really know, well he had a guess as to why it was important. The best guess he had to why was a rather simple, and most likely incorrect one, was that the reason why it was important was because he had been told it was important. "Why it is important...Because you tell me it is" and yes, Andy did actually believe that the reason why Algebra was important was because the people telling him that said so, after all any sense of resistance against the school had been broken out of Andy many years ago.

"Of course not." She told him as she closed her eyes and lowered her head slightly, then afterwards, she reached down into her bag and she pulled out a piece of paper, and she began to work on an equation, simple algebra from the looks of it, but for someone who didn't completely understand it, they would have been completely lost and it felt like she was just writing symbols and numbers and letters in random spots.

"Philosophy is writting in that great book which ever lies before our eyes - I mean the universe - But we cannot understand it if we do not first learn the language and grasp the symbols, in which it is written. This book is written in the mathematical language... without which one wanders in vain through a dark labyrinth."
"Those are words spoken by Galileo Galilei, what he means by this, is there are things within our life which requires such things as mathmatics in order to function and grow as humans, for instance-."
At that point, she pointed towards the number 4 that was divided by the total 30.
"Do you know why card games such as yours are limited by how many you can put into one deck of cards? To balance it simply, and the only way to figure out the proper balance is through mathmatics in one way or the other. But..."
She started to speak, as she pointed out as well,
"An equation like this, probably seems like nothing to you. That is because math isn't something you can pick up and learn like science, literature, history, languages, or any other subject. Math must be learned in order, or you will never truly understand it." She explained to him. One could hope that she was speaking clear enough for him to understand as well keeping his attention by putting what she assumes is his hobby as a primary focus. That is, after all, what children diagnosed with similar mental disorders like him have problems with, motivation and concentration.

It may have been out of character for Andy to be bitter, but when it came to mathematics the young brown haired boy was rather bitter, and angry and perhaps even a little more self righteous than he normally was? Ah doesn't matter. What does matter however, is the fact Andy kind of expected Kanade to say he was incorrect, it was what everyone else alwaaaaaaaaaaays told him but whatever. Huffing when Kanade started to write out the equation Andy didn't bother looking, after all he hated maths and he was starting to hate Kanade too, especially because she was disagreeing with him. When Andy's tutor started her long dumb stupid annoying speech about "language" and philosophy Andy switched right off, everything she was saying going in one ear and out of the other, which was rather rude yes but honestly, the card game playing kid didn't give a damn about that. Oh wow...okay, so normally Andy wasn't one to laugh at people, either internally or externally, but when Kanade began bring his card game into it the boy couldn't help but think "She's an idiot" inside of his own head, after all there was no way in hell Andy would ever expose himself to an agreement intentionally. Anyway, now that his tutor was finished speaking Andy just sighed, rather annoyed and tired of this whole affair by now. "But I don't want to learn maths, it's annoying and confusing" and with his little line of dialogue over and done with, Andy huffed and folded his arms, refusing to look at the equation due to how much he DESPISED maths.
