Strolling around the campus was nice. The late-summer's breeze was somewhat fresh, the sun was warm and felt nice on the skin, everything went around pretty neatly. Our favorite shades-wearing guy, Alex, who was enjoying all this scenery, couldn't help but sigh out of satisfaction. Lunch break was the best time to spend with friends, acquaintances, try out new types of food, or just plain go around doing whatever you felt like doing. Looking at the groups of people around him, he felt somewhat lonely right now. Yes, he was acquainted with a bit of class, but they..... How should I put this? They hadn't really given much time for bonding, even if they had been together for the whole previous year. He wasn't a stranger to this feeling though.... The first year of high school for him back where he was from had also been a bit like this, with the exception that everyone thought he was a delinquent and treated him like so.... But, back then, he ad Alice by his side. Alice..... Whenever he thought about her, nothing but a huge feeling to forget about whatever kept him away from his hometown was in his heart. He tightly gripped the necklace that held the arrow tip and imagined just how good it'd be to meet her again. He was more than sure that, if he actually trained enough to get selected as a first string to a national tournament, he'd be able to play against his hometown and meet her. That was the sole thing that made him focus on tennis so much. Suddenly, in all his fervor of youth and love, which was now being used as a fire to bake marshmallows for the people around him, a single sound echoed, leaving him a bit at dismay. A rumble from his stomach. IMPORTANT MESSAGE INCOMING FROM MR. STOMACH: You have now reached your bottommost level of energies. Please refill. ..... Yes, he hadn't had lunch yet. He didn't have the time to cook it, nor the money to buy one, so he was famished. At a time like this, in a manga, the main hero would group up with his gang and go steal something to snack from the cafeteria..... But, sadly, Alex didn't have such gang..... YET! As fast as a lightning or a forest fire, he quickly ran from the place he was standing on and, grabbing some random person from the crowd of people walking around, pushed him against a tree. "HELP ME, PLEASE! I'LL MAKE IT UP TO YOU SOMEHOW!" he yelled out to that person. Never EVER underestimate a hungry Alexander. |

It was a rather average day. The sun was shining down and a cool breeze was blowing, it was quite peaceful all around. It was the perfect scene for a nice, pleasant lunch. Isaac was about to sit down on a nearby bench and enjoy his lunch calmly. He had bought a few sandwiches before coming to school as lunch. He had attempted to make some and try to save some money, but what happened to those sandwiches is best left in the dark, for a creation so vile shouldn't have the right to exist. Just when he was about to have the sandwich though, out of nowhere, this guy comes up and pins him to a tree. What the hell?! "HELP ME, PLEASE! I'LL MAKE IT UP TO YOU SOMEHOW!" said the boy without warning. Isaac was still in shock. What did this guy want from him? Still trying to process what was going on, he stared at the boy for a while, his eyes wide from surprise. Then after realizing that it would probably be a good idea to at least see what this strange person wanted from him, he asked "W-What do you want?". He wouldn't admit it but at the moment he was slightly afraid of what would happen. He hoped it wouldn't be the start of another school where he would be bullied to no end... |

He knew he was being rash and was probably scaring the guy, but he was in dire need of food, or else he'd collapse right there and then.... Or worse, during class. There was nothing worse than collapsing in class. Other would be worried about him and him fainting would interrupt the classes for others. He didn't want to be such a burden. He'd prefer to die or be in jail rather than hinder others. He was about to ask the boy to help him sneak some food out of the canteen without anyone noticing but, as he was opening his mouth to say so, a rumbling noise, as loud as a heavy metal scream, was heard across the campus, making some people nearby turn their heads to look. His face completely turned into a tomato. There was no hiding it right now. "Please.... help me get some grub.... I'm broke.... I didn't have the time to make sandwiches or anything else that'd actually fill my belly." he explained calmly, taking his hands off of the guy and backing off a bit, now with his head down a bit in embarrassment. He knew the guy would probably reject his request. Not like anyone would really respond to such a nutcase, especially not a nutcase that pushes you hard against a tree when you're trying to your stuff calmly. "If it's too much.... No worries.... I guess I can go do it myself...." he mumbled something along those lines, for it only to be heard by him. Then, suddenly remembering of something else, his blushing and the embarrassed behavior puffed into thin air and he held out his hand. "Hello, nice to meet you. The name's Alexander, Alexander Glade. But you can call me Alex!" he introduced himself quite strangely. |

Still pinned to the wall, Isaac was still wondering what on earth this boy wanted from him. He said he needed 'help' but could that be referring to money or something else entirely? And then, all his thoughts were immediately cut short by the immensely loud noise which originated from the boy in question. This was, of course, his stomach making a noise that could put a lion to shame. Many turned their eyes to the source who was now ashamed. Stepping back a bit and calming down, he proceeded to say, "Please.... help me get some grub.... I'm broke.... I didn't have the time to make sandwiches or anything else that'd actually fill my belly." ...That's all? That's what he pinned him to the tree for?! "You know, you could have just asked..." Isaac mumbled to himself. He had more than one sandwich, so it probably wouldn't be a problem to share one. "I have some food, you can have some if you want." he said to the boy. Then suddenly, gaining a short burst of energy, he shouted "Hello, nice to meet you. The name's Alexander, Alexander Glade. But you can call me Alex!" and put his hand forward. Isaac shaked his hand, a bit reluctantly, and then proceeded to introduce himself. "My name is Isaac Langley. Nice to meet you..." I suppose. |

Upon hearing those words of offer and helpfulness, Alex's eyes started tearing up, and his grip over the other's hand tightened, and he shook it as hard as he could. "THANK YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU'RE A GREAT GUY, ISAAC! ONE HELL OF A GREAT GUY!!!! WHOEVER GETS YOU IS GONNA BE THE HAPPIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD!!" he shouted, as he shook the new person in front of him. Then, as he realized the other was probably going to be completely crushed by the force of his shaking, he stopped and stepped back again. "Sorry..." he apologized. He just made a new friend then. At least, that was what was on his mind right now. And a cool-looking friend at that! He could just imagine the stuff they'd be doing together.... Looking at the bench from where he had retrieved Isaac, he saw the sandwiches lying there, just like the boy had said. "Wow! Is it really okay if I eat these? Thanks!" he asked, as he took out two sandwiches and stuffed one of them in his mouth, munching on it like an animal who hadn't eaten in days. Waiting for the other to sit down, he looked at him. "-o, -ich -ad- ar- -u? I'- -om thi- -ar, -lass A." ("So, which grade are you? I'm from 3rd year, class A.") he asked, still with his mouth full. His smile, though, was the same innocent smile as a curious child, wanting to know more about the new person he had just met. He wasn't even thinking about those who were watching over this seemingly hilarious scene with a fervor out of this world. They were mainly girls though. With his sunglasses on, Alexander look sort of cute to them and, paired up with someone like Isaac, well, it was just free food for young fanfic writers with their hearts on fire for..... that sort of thing. |

"THANK YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU'RE A GREAT GUY, ISAAC! ONE HELL OF A GREAT GUY!!!! WHOEVER GETS YOU IS GONNA BE THE HAPPIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD!!" said Alex as he proceeded to do something that, to Isaac, could only be described as trying to break his hand. "Sorry..." he said as he apologized for what he just did. Right... this was going to be a bit annoying to deal with. "Let's sit down then." said Isaac as he did as he said and sat down on a nearby bench. Alex seemed elated at the simple sandwiches. The boy must have been famished. "-o, -ich -ad- ar- -u? I'- -om thi- -ar, -lass A." he said with the sandwich still in his mouth. What he 'said' could not be properly set apart as words. It sounded like mindless dribble to be honest. "Two things; First, don't talk with your mouth full. Second, you're gonna have to repeat that since I didn't quite understand what you said." Isaac said bluntly to him while giving him an annoyed look. Of all the people in the entire school, he had to be rushed by this guy... |

Nodding at the other boy's request, Alex proceeded to chew the half of sandwich inside his mouth and swallowed it slowly. When he was finished, gave another smile again. "So, which grade are you? I'm from 3rd year, class A." he asked again, with the same enthusiasm as before. Looking at his other hand, he took a bite out of the other half he was holding, this time not enough to fill his mouth, since it was obvious the other was quite annoyed at how he was behaving. Well, he couldn't blame Isaac. He'd just been rushed into forking over a bit of his food to a..... trigger-happy maniac without a shred of common sense.... That was, of course, Alex's evaluation on his own behavior right now. He hated to be a hindrance to others. Ever since he started highschool, back in his hometown, he always thought that, as long as others weren't hindered, he could pretty much do whatever he felt like. Doing what he felt like was nice, but he had no right to intrude other's business and screw it up. One person had once said "One's liberty ends when other people's starts." and he tried to follow that rule. Of course.... this definitely wasn't the case right now. Looking at Isaac, he realized the other felt very annoyed at either him or the world in general. While he was no therapist, he enjoyed helping others out. .... Correction: He FORCED his help onto others, which was annoying in and of itself. "Are you okay? You look like you're a Pyramide Head, or at least that you've seen one. Sorry if I'm being annoying...." he apologized for the nth time, taking another bite out of his sandwich, while his smile decreased into a small preocupied expression. |

After properly swallowing the sandwich, Alexander's reply was properly heard as "So, which grade are you? I'm from 3rd year, class A.". So that's what he said... Either way, he promptly replied, "I'm in class 2-A." The conversation grew stale for a moment as Alex continued to eat his sandwich. What to do now... "Are you okay? You look like you're a Pyramide Head, or at least that you've seen one. Sorry if I'm being annoying...." he said, breaking the silence. Isaac must've had an uneasy expression on his face. Somewhat ignoring the question though, he directed his attention to the part about 'Pyramid Head'. Interesting... He didn't look like the kind to enjoy that kind of video game. "A fan of horror games, are you?" Isaac said, continuing the conversation. His thoughts had now drifted into wondering if this guy over here was a gamer. A fellow gamer could be quite a lot of fun... |

As the other introduced his own class, he got reminded of another sophomore he had met. Maybe they're in the same class? he laughed within his own mind, at the unlikeness of that to happen. Taking another small bite out of the sandwich, he nodded in response to the other's question. "Yup. I've played a few Silent Hill games, though, my favorite horror games are probably either indie games or Resident Evil.... I know, I know.... Mainstream Resident Evil and all, but it's still a good series.... Except for those last few games...." he made his opinion a bit ambiguous but, he was kind of expecting Isaac to cover for him with a bit of his own criticism, since he also seemed to know a bit about the matter. Continuing to eat his sandwich, now the people around them had finally given up on anything of the sort of the imagination they were supposedly having. Alex chewed a bit more before looking back at Isaac. "Though, I don't really stop there when it comes to games. I love horror games, RPGs, strategy games, dating sims, visual novels and even the most daring eroges. Of course, I don't talk much about it mainly because of those." he suggested, mostly referring to some of the odd glares he was being given as soon as he mentioned eroges and dating simulators in public and in a normal tone of voice. He knew some people thought of those as masturbation material, but he actually enjoyed the story and plot behind those. |

Continuing the conversation, Alexander said, "Yup. I've played a few Silent Hill games, though, my favorite horror games are probably either indie games or Resident Evil.... I know, I know.... Mainstream Resident Evil and all, but it's still a good series.... Except for those last few games....". So he was a gamer as it would happen. Interesting... "Yeah, I know what you mean. It feels like it's been declining as of late." Isaac replied, giving his own opinion on the series. It was true... recently it felt like a lot of things were getting worse, but maybe that was just him and hopefully it would pass in a while. After all, the games industry is known for surprising people. "Though, I don't really stop there when it comes to games. I love horror games, RPGs, strategy games, dating sims, visual novels and even the most daring eroges. Of course, I don't talk much about it mainly because of those." he said, the last part reffering to some glares he got after mentioning those. To receive such attention simply at the mention of them... sometimes people can be a bit fickle. Isaac let out a small sigh before saying, "Games are games. It shouldn't matter if it contains content like that so long as it's good. You've gotta accept them for what they are after all, it's not like you're commiting a crime just by playing it. If you can accept that fact... then you can truly call yourself a gamer." Isaac said. That was... a bit unusual coming from him, but this was the first person he could talk to about a subject such as this since coming to Rockport, so perhaps he just let it out all at once... |

Wow, this guy was really cool. Saying all that with a straight face..... He was cooler person than what Alex had initially thought. A true gamer..... Yup, yup, that's what this guy was. Like Alex, he didn't care for what others said about it, as long as the story and the gameplay were awesome and cool, not even eroges were outside of their range of playability. Or, at least, that's what our blonde thought he meant with that. Dropping the last piece of sandwich down into his mouth, he chewed it carefully before swallowing and looking back at the other boy. "That's what I'm talking about! You're an awesome guy, you know that, Isaac?" he said with such a carefree expression on his face. He really was like a child who had been treated to candy or ice cream and was now delighted at how tasty it was. "We should play a few times together. I only have PC for now, since I don't have enough money to actually buy a personal TV and a game console, but there might be a few games we can play. Do you do any MMOs? Or is it just single-player action in your gaming experience?" he asked. He felt happy he had found someone who enjoyed games as much as he did. It was sad how most of Alex's time was spent on either classes, tennis practice or part-time job. But gaming always had a special place in his heart, because it helped lighten up the mood whenever he was depressed (which was rarely) and it made his heart jump and go into speedy frenzies at how amazing the story, the music and the graphics all meshed together. He had spent an entire weekend trying out that new DmC. You can outright assume he got knocked on the door quite a few times for making too much noise as he gamer-gasmed quite a few times. |

"That's what I'm talking about! You're an awesome guy, you know that, Isaac?" Alex said just after finishing lunch, with a rather happy expression on his face. "Thanks... I guess." Isaac replied. He wasn't quite used to being complimented like that. It felt... good, he supposed. Perhaps he wasn't as bad as first impressions would lead one to believe... "We should play a few times together. I only have PC for now, since I don't have enough money to actually buy a personal TV and a game console, but there might be a few games we can play. Do you do any MMOs? Or is it just single-player action in your gaming experience?" he asked. "I haven't really played any MMOs in a while... Although I could pick one up if you had any good suggestions." Isaac replied. It was then that another idea formed into his mind. "Hey there's an arcade somewhere in the city right? We could go there some time. I hear they have a good selection of games." he continued. Hopefully what he heard was the truth and not just some cheap advertising routine... |

And then boom went the dynamite. The "if you had any good suggestions" didn't fall on deaf ears. In fact, they fell on extremely good ears, which led to a very devious and overly exaggerating brain. As soon as he had processed that, Alex's brown eyes shone with a strange flame. A gamer flame. FLAG TRIGGER! "Yes! I have! First of all, Ether Saga! Awesome music, neat graphics, the pet system is nice and the pets themselves are cute. The lore is badass, the feel of the game is very natural. Then, Flyff! One of the best games if you want aerial combat! You can do a quest at level 20 to be able to ride a broom. I'm a level 27 Magician in it, if I remember correctly. We also have Digimon Masters and Digimon Battle, both great Digimon online games....." He was on fire. When it came to games, he just couldn't stop. "OH and my favorite of them all. Maple Story. Yes, yes, 2D action and all, but the music is AMAZING! I love the class system they have and the way you can get so strong the meter show you're giving '3k' of damage instead of some measly 300 damage is fun." Though, he stopped as soon as he heard Arcade. His face returned to normal as he was reminded of the environment in that area. And as he was reminded of it, he also remembered the people who hug out on the back of the building. Mostly junkies and dealers, but some were "useful" in more than one way. "Oh, you're talking about Flynn's, right? Yeah, I've been there once or twice. IT'S AWESOME! They have Metal Slug, Contra, hell, even a special BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma machine." he informed the other with a more cheery face. His face shaped a half-hearted smile as he sighed, though. "But alas.... I've never met anyone who could match my gaming speed, so I never really got to enjoy any of those in multiplayer mode..... I wonder if there's even someone who can help me beat Metal Slug on multiplayer without dying once...." And the challenge was set. It was a rather underhanded blow, using the old 'fake being too good to enjoy playing with others' strategy. But, hey, he was kind of interest in this guy now. |

After asking for some suggestions for some MMOs, Alex was on fire. He started going on about many different games. Isaac was a bit stunned by how many he knew. He was going quite fast and it was frankly getting difficult for Isaac to catch up. Isaac started to wonder if he could have noted this down on something... Remembering this all would be a tad difficult. Either ways, the main things seemed to be... Ether Saga, Flyff, Digimon Masters and the one that would get the most praise, Maple Story. "Alright... I'll be sure to check all of those out." Isaac said. Hopefully they were all as good as he said. Afterwards he began to talk of the arcade. "Oh, you're talking about Flynn's, right? Yeah, I've been there once or twice. IT'S AWESOME! They have Metal Slug, Contra, hell, even a special BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma machine." he said. That was certainly a good lineup of games. Old classics along with some great new ones... This was a place he'd definitely have to check out. "But alas.... I've never met anyone who could match my gaming speed, so I never really got to enjoy any of those in multiplayer mode..... I wonder if there's even someone who can help me beat Metal Slug on multiplayer without dying once...." he continued, bragging about how great he was. With a slight smirk on his face, Isaac proceeded to say "Is that so? Well then maybe I can help you fix that situation." He hadn't played those games in quite a while, but he was still rather confident of how well he played. |

As soon as the other fell into the trap, Alex's depressive demeanor turned into an awfully confident and cheery grin. "HAHA! Then it's a deal! You can't go back on it now, or else you'll stop being a man!" he said, in his usually cheerful voice. As he jumped out of the bench, he stood up and stretched his arms and legs. Isaac was a really cool person. Maybe he had even fallen into it fully knowing this had just been a pretext for Alex asking someone to play with him..... Or maybe not. Who knows? Only Isaac did, in this case. Walking in circles twice, Alex waited for the other to rise up too. "Come on, you don't have classes after this do you? Come on, come on. The Arcade'll be fun." He really did look like a child in these moments. Though, it still didn't lose the fact that he looked extremely awesome in those shades. Waving at Isaac, he was already almost next to the gates of the whole campus, waiting for the other to approach. Going to the Arcade, huh? Well, now that was a good thing. He was sure to remember that he had no money on him, so he'd have to go by the dorms to pick up some more, or else, he'd be depending on Isaac to pay for the tokens. (Going to continue in the Arcade after you also leave this, bro) |
