The evening of the Ravencroft's opening gala was one that Rei had not been looking forward to attending, if only because of the multitude of people. Sighing, the student straightened his coat, and then his tie, all the while watching the crowd as they dispersed from the auditorium. As all of it occurred, he silently cursed his present situation, but soon cursed those thoughts for ever having arisen in the first place. All in all, if he HAD no choice but to attend, it would be wise to at the very least make the most of it. With the majority of the people clogging the door, a common occurrence both after ceremonies and classes at schools, the student sighed to himself, placed a hand in his pocket, and dwelled on the Dean's speech. The pillars of knowledge seemed like a good place to start, though the fact he'd be forced to participate in physical activities AND be made to work to his full extent was something that did not sit well at all. The former due to the obvious issues with his health, and the latter due to just how easy everything had seemed regardless of the effort everyone put in in trying to make it more challenging or entertaining. With the door finally cleared, the student exited the auditorium and took a deep inhale of the crisp air. Truly, the night was his favorite part about the Summer, if only because it was as though the temperature was trying to transition into Autumn only to fail due to the sun's light. In short: the bluenette enjoyed the cold. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>LATER>>>>>>>> After having listened to a few club explanations and signing up for Lit without even a second thought, Rei purchased some food, and tried to find a solitary place to enjoy it. Eventually, he came to find a solitary tree in the courtyard, and let out a sigh as he leaned against it. His red eyes, with their cool stoicism, wandered from grouping to grouping of people until eventually coming to rest at an area sitting within the borders of yellow tape. There, something was going on there. However, never having seen fireworks before, the student remained clueless. Eventually, he closed his eyes and tuned out the white noise around him, instead coming to focus more on the sounds of nature. Namely the crickets and birds around him as they went about their average routines. The frail student finished his meal, and let out a sigh before letting himself slump more against the rough surface of his support. (Meh, poor starter, I know. My apologies.) Tory Walsen was not a fan of opening galas. Too many times, they meant having to wear an uncomfortable suit and sit still while some boring old lecturer droned on and on about things that had no bearing on him. The only thing that he could possibly call "good" about them was the number of people. Their attempts to ward off boredom provided him with an inexhaustible source of amusement. When a person had nothing to amuse himself, their true personality became visible. This time around, Tory found himself doing the same. He observed the people around him, furtively scribbling in his notebook every time some particularly choice snatches of conversation or some strange new mannerism caught his eye. The lecturer at the podium barely caught his attention: he was far too busy poring over the notes he'd taken, like a miser cluching his jewels. At last, the speech ended and Tory stood up, stretching and yawning, letting the crowd pass him by. As he headed for the exit, he caught sight of a young man with bright blue hair looking at the night sky with an air of obvious joy. Out of all the people he'd seen, he was the only one who seemed to care for something more than the speech. He saw the young man later, sitting by a tree in the courtyard with an empty plastic container stained with oil and sauce. His head was tilted upward and his eyes were closed, which made Tory fear for a moment until he saw his chest rise and fall. Something about him drove Tory to approach him, tapping his shoulder to wake him up. |

All in all, the world seemed to be at peace save for the occasional crow's call drowning out the rest of the peaceful environment. But such peace would soon be shattered as the pale student was touched by someone, and such a person seemed to be the kind he'd instantly despise. Such feelings were generated in the instant before he opened his eyes, as the noise slowly faded back into his world along with the groups of people. Sighing, the bluenette ran his fingers through his hair, and finally letting the world come into visual focus, took in the only person even remotely close to him. Trying not to let his personal feelings get in the way of public appearances (a daunting task on its own), the student tried to at the very least seem polite under his stoic tones when he asked the boy in front of him, a boy with red hair and an otherwise apathetic expression, a question. "Is there something you need?" All in all, the stoicism on the bluenette's face, coupled with the tone he gave off when he spoke, portrayed some level of disdain, or its more negative counterpart, apathy. Beyond said tone of stoic politeness sat something else, something ice cold but well hidden to accentuate the other the emotion and presentation of his speech. With a faint sigh, Rei stood in a more erect stance compared to his slumped posture of before, brushed off his coat, a long black one with gold trimming, and then his dress shirt, before finally letting himself lean against the tree once more. After all, if the person approaching him looked like they could care less, then why should he? |

This evening was the night the students were official welcomed to the school, warmly by the dean. Shiro take notes of the way she did her speech, the way she appealed to the others and how they reacted positively to her speech. Her eyes darted at the entrance of the auditorium, Shiro was going to leave the auditorium right then, but the doors were flooding with the bodies of the student, she decided to wait it out, she wasn't a huge fan of busy hallway. She looked in her bag, she carried everything she needed, she sighed since she started high school, she had a mild sunburn on her hands, but it could be worse. She looked back to the entrance, it was starting to clear out, that when she noticed that an older student was waiting in the auditorium as well, must hate crowds too. But she didn't want to bother him, he was deep in thought and it would be far to rude to interrupt his thought progress. But before she finished her mental note, he left the auditorium, she left and went into the hall, to receive a drink, and get on some of tonights events. ------Later----- After signing up for the raffle and getting a drink of iced coffee she went into the courtyard, she wanted to get fresh air before going back in. Her eyes looked towards the clear skies over her, the star shine brightly and the silence of the courtyard was relaxing compare to the hustle and bustle of the students inside the halls. She was a few paces away from the single tree, she didn't noticed the others in the courtyard. Without her notices she walked nearby the tree, this was when she noticed the two students. A red and blue haired pair of students, one was relaxing and the other was poking him, this pique her interest, it was rude for her to intrude but she couldn't help but asked the active one of the pair of what he was doing. But blue haired one woken up, from his action, he spoken up "Is there something you need?" He asked the red haired one, it wasn't her place to ask but couldn't help but say this next, "Heh, I thought the you pair were friends, seem my first impressions were wrong." she said flatly, the blue haired one doesn't seem to happy to be woken up, "Before I inquirie anymore I am Shiro Higanbana, and I apologize for my intrusion." She told the pair, more aimed towards the one who has straighten his back on the tree. (OOC: Is it okay for me to join?) |

Tory watched as the young man woke up and looked up at him, regarding him with utter disinterest. From the way he spoke, he was clearly not in the mood for a chat. "Oh, nothing," Tory said, rather flippantly, "only... you were lying there, apart from everyone. That's not something any of these other people would do." He jabbed a thumb at the people milling around the courtyard. "Can't blame you. None of this stuff really interests me." The sound of footsteps made him turn around. Another girl had approached the two of them and was now eyeing them curiously. The hair that poked out from underneath her cap was white as snow. Tory thought it was dyed at first, but then he caught the pinkish tint in her eyes. Albino. "Oh, hey there," Tory said. "No, sorry, we're not friends." The girl then introduced herself as Shiro Higanbana. Tory noted the name, nodded politely. In truth, he was rather interested. He'd never seen a real albino before, other than in pictures. "Name's Tory. Tory Walsen," he answered. "I saw that guy lying over there. Not every day you see someone doing that." |

The flippant response he'd gotten from the boy was exactly what he was expecting, if only because the aforementioned apathetic expression and things of that nature. Though, at the same time, he could relate entirely. It wasn't that Rei hated people, it was simply the noise they generated and how they expected one to behave. Other than that? People were the most fascinating creatures, especially to someone like him, someone without a true concept of empathy but the ability to, at the very least, recognize emotions. Interestingly enough, what had been simply one person moments ago soon became three as he and the other boy were joined by a girl, a girl with a head of hair as white as the winter itself, and eyes the color of blood. How very interesting to see an albino up close! For to him they were as mythical as the other things he'd read of in books, yet now that he'd seen one up close... Well, it was fascinating, to say the least. The other boy's reaction to the appearance of the albino was, in short, a perfect summation of what Rei would've said, had he been forced to speak. No, they weren't friends. Yes, he was alive. No, the activities didn't interest him very much (save for the fireworks he'd seen previously), and that was it. When the two introduced themselves, Rei decided it would only be common courtesy to identify himself as well. After all, they'd been kind enough to just hand information over to him, even if it was the most basic form of it. "I'm Rei Takeda, and I was over here because I'm not the biggest fan of crowds or noise." |

The student with the red hair spoke up first after their noticed her," Oh, hey there," he said. "No, sorry, we're not friends" She can guess now that their were not friends, most likely just met. She nodded, acknowledging what he said to her, he seems interested in her, must be her looks. "Name's Tory. Tory Walsen," he answered back to her introduction, she smiles slightly and replies back with "It a pleaser meeting you, Tory." "I saw that guy lying over there. Not every day you see someone doing that." She nodded, even her own curiosity was piqued for what ever reason, she couldn't put her finger on the reason why, most times her interests wouldn't be in waking up others but she couldn't help but fellow them. She spoken up again, "Yes that's true, and I couldn't help but be filled with curiosity, and see what was happening over here." she replied back to Tory's comment. The blue haired student spoken up with a introducing, after herself and Tory were done introducing each other, "I'm Rei Takeda, and I was over here because I'm not the biggest fan of crowds or noise." So another person who didn't like crowds, "So another person who doesn't like crowds, I have a similar dislike, but most likely for different reasons." She replied back to his introduction, and followed with her own to him. " it's pleaser to make your acquaintance, Rei. she said with a smile, Rei's last names ringed a few bells in her head, it sounded similar to her, but she doesn't know from where. |

Tory saw Rei's expression lighten just a tiny bit, though he couldn't tell whether or not it was because of the albino girl's presence. A bit of jealousy crept into his head, blaming the girl for stealing away the attention he had. Sure, an albino was far more eye-catching than a red-head, but he didn't approach Rei just to be out-staged by a random girl. He bit his lip till he felt he could speak without saying something rude, then breathed in and continued. "So that makes... uh, three of us who don't like crowds," Tory said to Rei. "Me, you and Shiro." He had to chuckle at the thought. "Well, okay, I don't really hate crowds. I just prefer to observe them more than be in them." He stopped there, silently betting they would ask what he meant. Edited by Icarael, May 7 2013, 09:56 AM.

Rei seemed to simply tune out the two, that was until a bit of info regarding Shiro caused him to come back down to earth in a rather hard manner, a manner filled with thoughts that turned like a hurricane, or churned like an endless sea. What sort of reasons could a person have for disliking crowds beyond noise? The people themselves, perhaps? Or maybe it was all about the fear of being disliked, something Rei had read about, but hadn't felt in years. Of course, due to the time said memories of those feelings were set, they seemed rather distant and wholeheartedly different from the present. Tory's next comment, or rather, the next comment that caught Rei's attention, was regarding the observation of people. How very interesting, and such a thing was one that he could certainly identify with. The student's mouth curled into the only other expression he used regularly, that one smirk, just as he began to speak, "I see, that's very interesting." The notion of why Tory did such a thing escaped him, though in the end it was narrowed down to a few reasons. Firstly, a lack of understanding (IE: The same reason Rei found people interesting.) Next, the standard "I simply find people fascinating" response, a la a psychologist. And finally... well, anything else. |

Rei seems to be an apathetic person, but he not harsh with it, only uninterested, but that's only her own theory. But he seemed to acknowledge her words about not liking groups more then her appearance which is a nice change of pace, compare to all the questions about her being an albino. Tory was quiet when she introduced herself to Rei, he must be a silent person, but she could sense a sort of curiosity in him, which was cemented by his statement, "So that makes... uh, three of us who don't like crowds," Tory said to Rei. "Me, you and Shiro." He chuckle. "Well, okay, I don't really hate crowds. I just prefer to observe them more than be in them." He stopped there, he was silent, most likely to see how their both responses. She wondered what needed to be said, he was a curious type from what little she seen so far. Rei spoke first, with a curious answer, for a curious person. "I see, that's very interesting." Rei might be doing something similar, Shiro guessed from the little information, but it's only a theory, which could easily be nulled, until proven otherwise. So she asked Tory, her own questions since her own curiosity was also poking her to ask a question, she wondered how he would react. "Do you prefer to observe on a certain group, or on a singular person, that piqued your interest?" Shiro asked curious, she guessed that he must be tired of people asking why, but not on who and what. She can guess so far that the two are either apathetic and needed their curiosity struck to acknowledge a topic, since Tory says he an observer, which indicate he likes indirect interest and study. she acted in an informal way to him ,so she won't disinterest him, since most observer only interacts when needed. Informal interaction is needed in a business, also guessing on how a person and groups work is a really useful skill, which makes her good at reading people. Who says, a business is impersonal? Their responses were what Tory expected: curiosity from Shiro and amused detachment from Rei. Yet even then, he could see those tiny details that made him stop and think twice about what they really felt. While others would have taken Rei's smirk as him warming up, he could see there was no change in his eyes. They watched him and Shiro. And Shiro's question managed to shake Tory. It was as if she was thinking of just how to get a definite answer from him. Dammit, he thought, I'm the one who's supposed to be doing that! He couldn't-- wouldn't-- believe that someone could easily catch on to him like that. "Alright, you got me, Shiro," Tory said at last. "Man, you really know how to ask the right questions." He grinned and lifted his hands in mock surrender, to show he meant no malice. "Yeah, it doesn't really matter to me. I just like observing people. They have all these fascinating quirks and tics." Shiro's question to Tory was met with perhaps the least apathetic expression Rei had donned so far, one that was less of a smirk and more of a legitimate smile tinged here and there with curiosity. How would he react to such a statement? Then, the answer came in a form of flippant humor, and then verification that went with one of the assumptions he had made earlier. All in all, it simply generated that feeling in him, one familiar form of exaggerated pride known as arrogance. However, such a thing did not show (for once) due to just how immersed he was in analyzing the two. Eventually, the bluenette closed his eyes for a moment in another attempt to tune out the crowd, this time not focusing on the songs of the birds, but rather the two people he was with. Upon opening those sharp and cold red-brown hues of his, he adjusted his glasses with one of his pale hands and finally decided to pass on some info about himself, perhaps said information would produce a new topic or new info altogether... Or maybe it would end in failure, prompting a lot of questions. Either way, Rei felt rather lucky, hence his uncharacteristic statement of, "I see. I find observing people to be a means of... well, it's almost akin to understanding them on a deeper level." Or any level, really. Profiling people is the only way I know how to understand them, natural "empathy" and "understanding" are things I do not get... With that, both the speech and the internal monologue, Rei awaited their responses with an almost childlike level of self-contained excitement. Edited by Cipher, May 8 2013, 04:21 PM.

They seems to be a silance hanging over, the group. Each member of the group seemingly to be in their own thoughts, Rei seems the most interested with what her words conveyed. Tory seemed surprised by her question, "Alright, you got me, Shiro," Tory said at last, ridding the group of the silence, "Man, you really know how to ask the right questions." He grinned and lifted his hands in mock surrender, to show he meant no malice. "Yeah, it doesn't really matter to me. I just like observing people. They have all these fascinating quirks and tics." Interesting way for him to say, interests and habits. She was guessing the way he doesn't care for observing groups or a singular person, imply that he sees a bigger picture, yet sees the importance for the little details. But yet again it only a groundless theory. "So you see the world, like an engineer of sorts?" She replied to Tory, this must sound to strange to people that hear it out of context, which is everyone but her, at the moment. Rei spoken up again, after a while of him being quiet, "I see. I find observing people to be a means of... well, it's almost akin to understanding them on a deeper level." This piqued her interest, up untill now, he mention very little of himself, so far only his name, and of his dislike that crowds make. Has the discussions, make him that interested? And to understand people on a deeper level. What could that mean? Does he have a hard time relating to others, or does he lack something that others have. To many questions to be asked without answers. So she asked Rei what he meant, "You observe others, to understand them? " she put a pale hand under her chin, and had a thoughtful look to her. most times she can learn others by speech easily, due to her empathy. But Rei was an odd case, he was hard to understand. ""So do you it as way of relating to others around you, or do you lack others that others have? this was all she could think of saying, their wasn't any much that would make sense. |

"Wait, since when did this turn into an interrogation?" Tory said, smirking. "Man, you two really know what to ask people." When Rei said something, he immediately took notice. He spoke of observing people to understand them, which was the exact same motive Tory had. Yet he acted so cold and seemed to regard the idea of being anywhere near crowds with distaste. Maybe the reason he watched people was because he wanted to put together a good idea of what they were all about. "Yeah, that makes sense," Tory said. "Putting things together. Although, come to think of it, that's more of a detective's thing isn't it?" He smiled. "Okay, I told you my secrets. Now you tell me: why do you hate crowds?" |

The reactions his statement had produced were interesting, to say the least. Questions from Shiro, but Tory's reaction was much more understanding and self-contained, maybe he wasn't so bad... maybe they could identify with each other and be... friends? Naturally, such things seemed foreign to the bluenette, who met their questions with an outward gaze of stoic disdain prior to answering, but upon speaking his mouth turned upward sharply, into a smirk, "I do it to relate to those around me, I guess." The notion of saying something so... personal was an insanely strange concept to the bluenette, who made it a point to choose his words carefully so as to (hopefully) not provoke Shiro's curiosity to become too great, and more questions to be asked. Turning to Tory, he adjusted his glasses and answered, the bright lights around them, both indoors and out, caused said glasses to obscure his eyes, becoming totally opaque while he spoke to them, "I don't like loud noises. Simple as that." |
