Kyosuke glanced at the clock in his room, silently watching as the second hand ticked away. The dance had already started but he would not be too late -if he left now. With a sigh, he walked about his room getting dressed. Was this even a good idea? Sure, such a massive social gathering would present him many an opportunity at making friends but... a certain behavioural standard was to be held at events such as these and he wasn't quite confident that he could uphold it. Nontheless, he slipped his phone into his pocket and went out the door, making his way out of the dorm and towards the school gym. "Kuu..." Kyosuke breathed out, stretching his tie out a little. Kyosuke was clad in a formal suit but was by no means enjoying it: his white shirt was untucked and his suit jacket lay over it. A long black tie that stretched below his naval was now a tad bit loose around his collar. Black slacks that managed to pass off as formal pants covered his legs but his toes wriggled in discomfort inside the painful shoes. Damn it, why did it have to be formal? Or even semi-formal?! Being in a tuxedo made him feel strange... It didn't seem like the rowdy Kyosuke at all, if anything he looked closer to some sort of gangster rather than a formal party goer and this fact irritated him even more. His feet hurt, he felt suffocated and he came here all alone! If this wasn't the pinnacle of sadness he didn't want to find out what it really was. With a depressed sigh he shoved his hands into his pockets and strolled over to the refreshments table, glancing at the other people having a good time out of the corner of his eye. Even he wasn't stupid enough to believe that he could act his usual loud self in a place like this; he already saw the security that was stationed. On the plus side, the music was pretty good and if it weren't for the fact that he had no one, he was itching to do some dancing himself. Slowly pouring himself a cup of fruit punch, his lack of attention caused him to spill a little, at which he moved his arm quickly to make sure that the suit didnt get wet. "Shit..." he hissed, dabbing at the stain on the tabe with a napkin. With a sigh of defeat, he turned around and put the cup to his mouth, gazing around. In no time he was done with it and looking back down at the empty cup, disappointed with what he was doing. "Well" he said, straightening up and placing the cup down. "Might as well try to find someone to talk to" he said to himself, walking forwards. He maneuvered through the thick crowd while muttering 'excuse me's' and 'sorry's' to everyone he had to slide past and through. With the lighting and the thickness of the crowd it made it a bit hard to navigate and soon Kyosuke had difficulty moving. He was trapped between a particularly large fellow and another muscular one, at which he struggled with much wriggling and freed himself, bursting out and slowing down to a walk. He looked over his shoulder to see who the people were when he felt a light impact ahead of him. "Ah!" he breathed out, taking a few steps back. He turned around and looked at who he had bumped into, beginning to apologize to them "S-Sorry, I wasnt--...Huh?" |

Alicia gazed into her closet as if it was the seventh dimension of hell. It was filled with clothes yet nothing appealed to both her taste and the event that she was to be attending. She sighed to herself, wondering why she was even trying. It was as if she enjoyed putting herself in situations that she could be made fun of in. Hanger after Hanger, shirt after shirt, and dress after dress, her bed became a pile until it was almost fully covered in a wide assortment of clothing. It wasn’t until half of her closet was emptied until she found a dress, a simple, sleeveless dark purple cocktail dress with a black sash that went around the waistline. It was minimal yet elegant in design. It had been so long since she had to wear such attire that she forgot she had even possessed. She tried it on, and luckily it fit perfectly. In a rush to leave she put on black heels and made her way to the Gala. She scanned the crowd with a frown, unable to see anyone she knew; all two of them that is. So far the only people she knew were Rei and Kyosuke, neither of which seemed to be the type to arrive at such a gathering. With a sigh of defeat she made her way to the opposite end of the building to find a place to sit down because as far as she was concerned this evening was to be filled with a lot of observation. She squeezed her way through the enormous crowd. Her heel managed to get pressed down on a girls foot, sending venomous looks her way. She apologized profusely as she made her way down further, extra cautious to stay out of everyone’s way. That was when she was almost plowed over by someone who wasn’t watching were they were going. Although she didn’t consider herself at fault, she prepared the same string of apologies. But as she turned her glance towards the boy, she realized it was Kyosuke. It wasn’t the first person she would have assumed to have seen, but that didn’t mean she was glad to have seen him. At a lack of words due to her surprise, she merely smiled in response. |

Much to Kyosuke's surprise, it was in fact Alicia that he had bumped into. The girl he met not too long ago near the dorms, the one with the ferret. El...wood, was its name, if he remembered right. It was a most welcome and pleasant surprise and he was hitching up a grin in no time in response to her entrance. She hadn't quite said anything yet but he'd be damned if that was going to stop him from doing so. "Hey, Alicia! Man am I glad I ran into you!" he said happily. He thought back on what he said again, though, as it sounded a bit strange to him and he facepalmed. "Er, not that I'm callin' you a man! No way! You look as much of a man as wood does metal! ...Okay that was a pretty bad metaphor, but you get the idea" he blurted out once more nervously, chuckling uneasily at the end. He had a tendency to trip over his own line around this girl. He looked about at the other cheerful part goers. "Everyone's kinda doin' their own thing and im just lurkin' around, haha" he said sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. He then actually took the the time to notice that she, too, had arrived in formal fashion and looked quite stunning at that. It was quite interesting how the purple stood out when compared alongside her hair. "Whoa, you look great! The purple really stands o--" he said however was then interrupted by someone who brushed past him from behind, sending him forward a step. The person muttered a quucik 'sorry' before abruptly disappearing into the crowd. "Sheesh, it's gettin' a bit crowded here, huh?" He asked her jokingly, staring after the person who had just passed them by with a quizzical expression. He then looked around the place, then back at her. "Man... They sure did go all out with this thing, didn't they? It looks great!" he said happily. The music was at just the right volume so as to allow dancing but not to prevent conversing. Everyone seemed to be in a generally cheerful mood and the fact that Kyosuke had encountered a friendly here brought him into that mood as well. "Oh hey! Who'd ya come here with?" he asked her with a mischievous grin. His expression then suddenly shifted into that of worry and he looked around alarmed. "Oh shit, he isn't gonna' beat me up for talking to you, is he?!" he asked. Fortunately, he did not spot any angry men approaching so that seemed to be a relief. He did notice that things were getting a bit loud and clustered around them, and it was beginning to bug him a little. "Say, wanna go over to the refreshment table? Kinda hard to carry a conversation out here" he asked her, thumbing over his shoulder towards the table. The table was a little further away from the music and while it had its fair share of people it was certainly less populated than the rest of the Gym, allowing for a much smoother conversation. It had been some time since he last spoke to her and he felt a bit guilty for not being able to call her. Finally getting all his stuff all packed into his room and running around the school getting his class schedule and other info ready for the impending semester was proving to keep him quite busy. He hoped that she wouldn't mind moving from their, er, 'cozy' location. (OOC: Surpriiiiised, yeaaaaah thats it c:) |

Alica nodded in agreement when he said he was happy to see her, but raised an eyebrow in confusion when he went off on a awkward tangent. She wasn’t offended, or even annoyed, for she too was often guilty of such. “Don’t worry, she said with a hint of amusement in her voice. The crowd made Alicia very nervous; crowds, among other things, usually resulted in a panic attack. She wasn’t exactly focusing as the boy spoke, she listened but almost evey movement demanded her attention. She jumped slightly when Kyo was knocked foreword by someone walking past. She nodded absentmindedly when the boy said the place looked nice. “Yes, it most definitely looks that way,” she replied in a tone that was barely audible to begin with, the music itself was loud enough to overpower it completely. Kyo asked her who, not if, she went with someone. She wondered if that said something about her opinion about her. As nice as it was, he was incorrect. “I didn’t come here with anyone, no one will be beating you up just yet,” she said in a weak tone that seemed to be an attempt at sarcasm. Upon being asked if she wished to go towards the refreshments table, Alicia nodded in response. She wanted nothing more than to be removed from the crowd. “That would probably be best.” As she weaved her way through the crowd, she managed to not step on anyone or even bump into anyone; much to her surprise. Occasionally she would turn to be sure Kyo was in fact following her, half afraid he would simply lose interest and leave her. Once they made their way to the table, Alica was able to breathe easy. She was noticeably much more calm. “Much better, don’t you think?” she said with a sheepish smile. |

Kyosuke let out a nervous laugh after she had reassured him that the message had not been received the wrong way, much to his relief. He did barely notice that she was a bit jumpy as he talked, but he simply wrote it off as him being paranoid. She did, however, seem to be a little startled when he was jostled forwards, but this was a normal response to such a thing occurring. Alicia seemed to give a barely audible response to his remark of the appearance of the whole event, she was rather distracted. He wondered if he was keeping her from attending to something... or someone. “I didn’t come here with anyone, no one will be beating you up just yet,” she responded, with traces of sarcasm that poor, dim Kyosuke was unable to detect. As a result, he responded with a nervous tug of his collar and a sheepish chuckle. "Well, looks like we're in the same boat then" he said with an exhausted expression, letting out a sigh at the end. "Pretty sad, ain't it? Ahahaha...." he ended with a depressed chuckle, letting out yet another sigh. It seemed that Alicia was more than happy to move away from the booming crowd to a place more suitable for conversing. Kyosuke wondered why it was that she looked back to him from time to time but he paid no particular attention to it, though the nervous actions were beginning to link up little by little. Once they were away from most of the hustle and bustle of the crowd, Kyosuke took a deep breath of air that didn't reek of a colossal combinations of perfumes and body sprays alike. He casually made his way over to the table lined with food and leant against a spot not occupied by a dish or bowl of any sort. “Much better, don’t you think?” she said with a sheepish smile. Kyosuke gave a small laugh. "Haha, yeah, much. Can't stand bein' all... caged up like that. Too many people, y'know?" He said, shaking his head. His fingers began lightly rattling against the table to the beat of the now slightly distant song. "Say, you looked kinda' jumpy back there" he remarked to her. "You alright? Ain't makin' you uncomfortable am I?" he asked her with a worried expression. He was not really worried if he was the cause, but more that she seemed to be troubled and he wanted to help. |

Alicia shook her head in response, “No, It wasn’t you; just the crowd. It was very,” she paused in search of a proper word. “Suffocating,” she said feeling content with her choice, for it minamalized the level of neuroticism she exhibited in the crowd. She found it odd that such a boy hadn’t come with anyone. Although she could see that he was a little out of place, he didn’t exactly come across as a loner. She couldn’t help but to compare him to herself, which that alone was enough to strengthen her opinions. “So have you been to many dances before?” she asked trying to keep the conversation simple, but still extract as much information as possible. She turned for but a moment as she combed her fingers through her ginger colored hair. It was an odd feeling, not having it in a ponytail, but instead keeping it down. She couldn’t help but analyze her appearance in comparison to everyone else. She would have normally told herself that it doesn’t matter since no one will pay attention to her anyway, but today that was not the case. She had in fact found company for the evening, something that she would never have expected. |

Alicia shook her head in response, “No, It wasn’t you; just the crowd. It was very,” she paused “Suffocating,” she concluded. Kyosuke gave a nodded and a hum of agreement, he knew what that was like from time to time. “So have you been to many dances before?” she asked. He looked up and rubbed his chin in thought and then turned to the bowl of punch and filled a cup with it, turning back towards Alicia and offering it to her. "You must be thirsty after all my interrogatin', hah!" he said with a light chuckle. He then looked looked back up at the dark ceiling. "Well, course I have! Been partyin' since I was a little kid!" he replied mack, a tone of amusement in his voice. He then let out a laugh. "Hah! Nah, nah. No way. Haven't been to a single party in my life, let alone a dance, heh" he responded, a few traces of slight sadness in his voice. He paused for a while. "To be honest, I'm pretty nervous... Not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do here, aside from what I've seen on TV" he admitted with a nervous laugh. "How about you? You seem like someone who'd be pretty popular with the right kind of people, eh?" he said mischievously, nudging her lightly. He then watched silently as he ran her hands through her hair and was not aware of how much he was staring, lost in thought. Once he had come to his sense, he turned away rather abruptly, a barely noticeable tinge of redness creeping across his face. He scratched the back of his head trying to divert his attention away from his thoughts. It was then that Kyosuke recognized a song that was playing and he began tapping his feet to it, closing his eyes and taking in the sweet rhythm of the song. He opened his eyes after a short while and stood up straight; he couldn't be still anymore. He turned to Alicia with a smile "Say, you wanna go dance? This song is reeaaally great and... well, this is a dance so... whaddaya' say?" he said with an innocent shrug, hoping for the best. |

Alica smiled from the lighthearted attitude of Kyo, it seemed to even begin to rub off on her. It was almost enough to counterbalance her own depressing aura that he seemed to have not yet caught wind of. She wondered if the boy was oblivious to such, but left such thoughts to herself. She found it curious how the boy had never been to a party before; albeit a tad socially awkward at times, he seemed to be far better at socializing than she. He said that he was nervous, in truth she was too. She nodded in response; in fact too nervous to state that she was as well. He seemed to have assumed that she was popular, to where she simply shook her head in response, “Not really, no.” she wasn’t really sure how to explain that she was not a socialite, but rather an outcast, ostracized by her fellow peers for being different. She wished not to explain that she could see the future, she enjoyed his company and feared jeopardizing it. But luckily a song had come on, one that the boy had seemed to know. She was taken aback upon being asked if she would like to dance. It was a surprise to be sure, but a good kind surprise. She nodded with a gentle, sheepish smile spread across her face. She took the boy’s hand to be led back into the dance floor. |

“Not really, no.” she said. This came as news to Kyosuke and he wondered why she was almost seeming... hesitant. Still, he would at least make an attempt to help her to have a good time. Much to his relief, she agreed to dance, a gentle smile on her face. Kyosuke slowly led her by the hand to the dance floor where other students were already in the process of dancing and as they walked, he tried his hardest to observe how they were going about it. He wasn't quite afraid of dancing, rather he wasn't sure how exactly to do it. He had jumped at the opportunity to ask Alicia, true, but he didn't quite exactly know how to slow dance. He had heard that letting the song flow through you was the key to dancing, so he would have to give that a shot. Once they had reached the dance floor, he turned to her with a nervous smile. "Ah, sorry if this gets a bit close. I hope you don't mind" he said in advance. He took hold of her hand and gently placed his hand on her hip, hoping that he wasn't being too weird himself. He took a deep breath and tried to smile reassuringly at Alicia. "Let's try our best" he said. With that, he slowly began to try and dance with her, trying to keep his movements in line with hers and making doubly sure that he was not stepping on her feet. After a short while since they started, there were no mishaps yet and Kyosouke couldn't help but smile at their success. "I think we're doin' alright!" he told her with a laugh. The jazz seemed quite soothing and it helped to soften his nerves but a lingering thought kept swimming around the back of his mind. He figured that now was as good a time as any to bring it up. "Hey, we're friends, right?" he asked her. "It seemed a bit like somethin' was bothering you. I'm not gonna' push you or anythin' but..." he said, looking for the right words and trying not sound too nosy. "I'm always up to listen, if you want to talk, I mean. Can't say I'm a good advice giver but... anytime ya' need to unload, let me know, yeah? We'll go out and somethin' fun!" he said, grinning. He hated it when his friends were upset and he wasn't able to do anything about it... He wanted to help her, but at the same time he didn't want to corner her with anything. He only hoped he was able to convey this to her properly. Edited by Crow, May 21 2013, 02:49 AM.

Alicia, although not the most socially graceful, had at least some sense of rythem. Her parents status involved quite a few parties, many of which she was obligated to attend. She wrapped her arms around Kyo’s shoulders, apparently not quite as uncomfortable as Kyo was. A slight shiver went down her spine as he placed his hands upon her hips. It was an odd reaction, for she was not even cold; in fact she felt rather warm. She led the boy in a simple circlular motion, her hips swaying gently to the tune of the beat as she kept her eyes on the footwork, not quite comfortable enough to look the boy in the eyes. Kyo was doing much better than she would have first thought. He even stated so. “You sure you haven’t danced before, you seem to have some experience; or at least a superior sense of rythem.” “Hey were friend’s right?” Kyo asked, he seemed just a tad bit hesitant. Alicia nodded, raising an eyebrow in confusion. She wondered just what he had to say. "It seemed a bit like somethin' was bothering you. I'm not gonna' push you or anythin' but..." Although on the outside it didn’t show, Alicia’s heart began to palpitate, “Wait does he know?! How could he possibly know?!” "I'm always up to listen, if you want to talk, I mean. Can't say I'm a good advice giver but... anytime ya' need to unload, let me know, yeah? We'll go out and somethin' fun!" Alicia felt her body slowly return to normal after what appeared to be a false alarm. She nodded in response, “I think I would like that.” She said in a feeble voice that matched an equally weak smile. |

Everything seemed to be going great, it seemed that they were passed any outstanding awkwardness and were lightening up. Alicia seemed far better at this than him and he had to try his hardest to keep up with her, virtually sending a mental message to his feet to NOT step on her feet. So far so good and he let out a soft sigh of relief, thankful that for once he wasn't screwing something up. Alicia appeared to a little nervous than him, but this was quite understandable given the situation. “You sure you haven’t danced before, you seem to have some experience; or at least a superior sense of rythem.” Alicia said, making Kyosuke unable to hold back an embarassed smile at the compliment. "Ahahaha, thanks a bunch but... really, I just like music is all" Kyosuke replied. "Thanks a bunch for leadin' though, I had honestly no idea how to go about it" he admitted with a light chuckle. It seemed that Alicia was pleased to hear that Kyosuke was available for aid at any time and this in turn, relaxed Kyosuke. He continued to dance with her for a short while but then realized that perhaps talking could relax Alicia a little more. "So, hey, there's that fireworks thing going on after this. You gonna' check it out? It sounds pretty cool" he asked her. He had heard that there were going to be all kinds of fireworks, of various shapes and sizes. It was bound to be an amazing night! Alicia had nodded in response to the boy’s question. She almost forgot about the fireworks and had almost intended to not even bother to show up since she assumed she would end up having to go and leave alone. But she had assumed wrong, for she was not alone; but rather together with Kyosuke. “Let’s go before the bleachers are filled up.” she said knowing it would be preferable since she was wearing a dress. In a similar matter as before, she took the boy’s hand having him lead her through the remains of the dance, to the fireworks display that was about to commence. She could remember seeing fireworks once before. She sat in her room, looking out the window in the distance only to see a streak of light ascend into the heavens to burst into a wide array of colors. It was rather mesmerizing to the girl who had lived a rather dull, secluded life. As they entered the field house, passing through to get to the bleachers; she had noticed a commotion towards the side, next to a fence. “Come on let’s see what it is,” she felt a knot forming in her stomach, not wanting to know what it is; but rather feeling as if she has to. |

“Let’s go before the bleachers are filled up.” Alicia said. Out of all things of the night, Kyosuke certainly didn't expect to be going to see the fireworks with Alicia! It was quite the welcome surprise, though and it felt nice to know that he would not be alone during such a festive event. "Sure!" he responded happily, as they stopped dancing. In an action that came as a slight surprise to him, he was lead through the dance by Alicia, once again a nice surprise. It seems this night was full of good times! It was a refreshing though to him that he was amidst so many people who didn't hate him. He had seen fireworks before, but never really with anyone. Despite the beauty of the sparks, he found it quite lonely. That was not the case tonight, however, and for this he was thankful to Alicia. Strangely enough, there seemed to be some kind of commotion at the scene of the fireworks, and some people were running about. This... didn't quite seem right... What the hell was going on? “Come on let’s see what it is,” Alicia suggested. Kyosuke looked to her, then back at the scene. He had a bad feeling about this but... if she wanted to go see he could at least go with her. "Alright..." he said to her. Carefully, he waded through crowd with Alicia."Ex-- Sor-- Can y--" he tried asking the people who were running what was going on but everyone was too panicked. The further he went, though, the more he began to smell something really nasty. Eventually, there was a clearing and Kyosuke stopped dead in his tracks. He froze, as his eyes met the sight of that which was driving all the other students away. "What... The hell...?" he muttered under his breath. He couldn't believe what he was seeing... |

Alicia remembered on day in her childhood when she had snuck into her father's library, an aged room that was more for show than anything else. But amidst the dusty collection was a single book that caught her eye. Lovecraftian horror to be more specific, The Call of Cthulu. She opened the sickly sulfur colored pages. One section in particular stood out to her: “The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age.” Although she wasn't quite sure why, but that quote has always stuck with her. For some reason when she tried to analyze how she felt, only that quote came to mind. They say curiosity kills the cat, and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger; "But why are my knees shaking so," she asked herself, as her mind was caught in a whirlwind she couldn't escape. Her hand shook within Kyo's as she struggled to hold on tighter but lacked the grip. She felt as if her insides were going to turn inside out; like the mangled remains before her were the physical representation of her own psychological turmoil. She remembered a vision she had, rusty chains and a bloodcurdling scream, on the rooftop of the school. "Was this what it was?" She asked herself as a shockwave of shivers rushed it's way through her body. she finally managed to turn her gaze from the unrecognizable mass of flesh and bones before her, turning to the Kyo for guidance of some sort. She didn't know what to say, she lacked the words to express... anything really. The image had already engraved itself into her mind; threatening to reemerge each time she blinked. The repulsive sight of the body sent waves of nausea throughout his body and with a shaking hand, he loosened his tie further to let more air into his wheezing throat. The smell of dead flesh... The rank scent of deacaying internal organs and the obscure and otherworldly smell of rust and blood blanked Kyosuke's mind. The chains that dug through the body in one way or the other seemed to be either tryign to pull the body apart or hold it together like a very shoddy lock. He then felt something and looked next to him and he could feel from her hand that Alicia was shaking, just a she was. He felt ashamed of himself... How could he be thinking about himself at a moment like this? For Alicia, this must have been just as warping and twisted as it was to him and he saw it in her eyes as she looked to him. Not knowing what else to do, he gently pulled her in to a warm hug, trying to keep her from looking at the goresome sight any longer than they already had. Kyosuke glanced at the body out of the corner of his eye. He did not wonder how or why... He wondered who. Who could have been this sick, twisted and demented so as to do this to another human body. This wasn't just some doll you could play around with... This was a human! Blood, flesh and bones! Which, coincidentally, was what was being displayed at the current moment. He looked down to her as the authorities entered the scene from around them. He could still feel her shake and so he tried his very best to cease his own. He would be a liar if he said the sight didn't scare him to the core, but he couldn't afford to let her know. Not as she was now. "Hey, hey, it's okay... Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you" he said to her gently. He wasn't sure what else to say but he wanted to make sure she knew he was there for her. As the authorities approached, he spared one final glanced at the mangled body before gently trying to lead Alicia the other way. "Alright, let's get out of here. Nice and easy, now" he said to her, gently guiding her away. As they moved and the grass crunched underfoot, Kyosuke wished he could silence the screams of the other students but he knew that was not his place. Were it any other case, he may just have been one of them, but right now he had a responsibility to get this girl to safety. "Don't look back..." he muttered gently, unsure if it was to her or both of them. As they would near the the building wherein they burst out of not long ago, Kyosuke never let go of her shoulder the whole way as if afraid that someone would take her away as well. He stopped outside the gym building, now fairly far away from the madness of the events that had just transpired. He looked to her with a concerned expression. He wasn't quite sure what to do next... He didn't wish to leave her alone, but he did not wish to overstep his boundaries with her either. He was almost at a loss of words. He didn't quite know what to say at this point. "That was... somethin' else..." he breathed out, running a hand through his hair in exasperation. He looked back at the girl. "Are you... alright? Want me to take you back to your dorm?"he asked. The former question was quite stupid to ask at this point, but he asked it anyways. Though he told himself that he asked the latter question out of concern for her, there was a part of him that didn't want to be alone right now. Some company would be nice, if only for a few minutes more. |
