Elaheh blushed slightly at Joe's words. She had never really given it much thought. It had always been as simple as I am able to do it, so I should. Perhaps it was a part of her mother, that sense of obligation, that she just couldn't quite shake off of her. "Why thank you," she said trying to retain as much of her composure as possible, although her ears felt as if they were on fire, but of course that couldn't be seen from under her hijab. He mentioned the idea of teaching a teacher yoga, "That would be quite ironic, teaching a teacher. I don't believe there are any in my classes though. There are about 20 in my Saturday class, and a little less on the Sunday class, but no teachers from what i know." she said, trying to go through the list of people she began teaching. Being new to the town she has only held each class once, and still has to learn everyone's names. ELaheh nodded as he explained the amount of practice required to play an instrument like the piano. "I can only imagine," she said, reinforcing his statement in a more gentle tone. She knew that although everyone should be treated equally, the way to go about such for each person is different. It seemed that being firm was not the best course of action, at least for Joseph, that is. TH boy asked her if she had an interest in music, "I will admit, music does interest me, though i never have the time to learn an instrument. I guess I will just have to stick to writing songs or poems and listening to music," she said with a sigh that was more joking than anything else to lighten the mood. She wasn't quite sure if she had the tenacity to learn an instrument, regardless of current desire. |

When Elaheh started blushing a bit, Joseph realized that he may have been laying on the praise a bit too thick. He blamed it on his lack of experience. After all, talking to a girl his age (he assumed she was about the same age, since she was in the same year as himself) for a long as he did now was a rare occasion in his life, even though not that much time passed since she came over, asking if it was ok if she sat there. Elaheh mentioned the number of people she taught - more than twenty over the weekend. "That's quite a few, isn't it? Must be kinda tough teaching them all.", Joseph wondered out loud. He never taught anyone anything, not that he believed he had anything to teach. His academics weren't good, his piano skills were somewhat lacking and his fighting was mostly instinctive. Still, he was aware that teaching was no easy task. The girl also said that she was interested in music, but didn't have the time to learn anything. Even more interestingly, she mentioned writing songs and poems. While Joseph himself didn't have the talent for writing, he found that bit intriguing. "You're writing songs? What kind of genre? And for what instruments?", he asked away with curiosity. Elaheh seemed to deliver surprise after surprise almost every time she spoke. He was so into the conversation, he almost forgot about his food. He took another mouthful while waiting for the girl's reply. |

Assuming Joe had never stepped foot in a yoga studio, Elaheh could only assume his knowledge of such a topic would be minimal at best. "It's a little bit on the large side, but it's still manageable. Most of them have been there for a while, so they usually don't require assistance." Elaheh shrugged a bit, her tone was rather matter of fact, she didn't feel incredibly accomplished from such a feat, although Jo seemed rather impressed. He seemed to also show interest in her writing, specifically the writing of songs. "Well it would be for vocals, but they're not very good. I'm better with writing either poems, which usually very widely in genre, and short stories, that are about as diverse." there was a hint of passion in her voice when she spoke about writing. Her tone alone proved that her writing was her most prized accomplishment, that it was her favorite way to spend her day when she doesn't have work or after school activities. She wished to switch the discussion's focus away from her. talking about oneself for long enough can get rather uncomfortable, not to mention dull. "And what about you? You mentioned Martial Arts, correct?" she said, hoping this was a transition, "Such a thing requires a lot of determination and discipline." her tone didn't exactly come across as flattery, for that was not her intention, instead it came across as a simple fact. |

Elaheh said that the people she was instructing were mostly experienced and didn't require much help. "I see. I guess that would make it more manageable.", said Joseph. Judging from her tone, she wasn't very interested in discussing this topic any further. That said, Joe himself has exhausted his options there, having essentially zero knowledge of yoga. What the girl seemed to be much more interested in was her writing. When Elaheh said she was writing songs, Joseph assumed she was writing music for them, but it seemed that wasn't the case. Her voice was filled with enthusiasm and pride as she described her works. Joe internally lamented his lack of literary knowledge - apart from whatever was required for school, he had little interest in reading. In his own words, he was more interested in "the real thing". It seemed that once again he was somewhat out of his depth. "So, you're planning to write some for the newspaper?", asked Joseph, trying to keep this topic somewhere where he can keep up with the girl. When Elaheh brought up the topic of martial arts, Joe was faced with a rather curious predicament. If he were talking to a guy or someone he knew was into this, he would probably be quite eager to talk about it, but he didn't know the girl's opinion on fighting in general. With that in mind, Joseph focused on the less questionable parts of his interest. "You could say is does. Determination is certainly key, although I often rely on gut feeling more than training. Fighting just... I dunno, makes sense to me. Not sure why or how, it just does.", he answered, struggling to find the right words to describe his aptitude. Elaheh nodded in response to Joe's comment in regards to her yoga class. He had no idea just how much easier that makes her job, though that was the reason they didn't mind hiring a sixteen year old girl for the job. She knew that if that wasn't the case, her chance of getting hired would have been much more difficult. BUt she was getting paid for her efforts, so she wasn't exactly inclined to complain about the details. Upon being asked about the newspaper, she decided to fill him in on what exactly she wrote. "Well I usually write articles on whatever happens whether it be within the school as well as a few things that happen in the city." She looked down for a moment, there was one specific event that had occurred in the school that mad the papers, the murders. What was in the papers were suger coated to make the students feel more comfortable. She managed to get a hold of some of the interviews collected, and was rather disgusted by the descriptions she had read. But she forced herself to continue, for the boy's sake, "But for the most part, besides specific events that come up, I have an editorial column. Basically I discuss an event and write my opinion on them." She smiled slightly, it was almost as if they knew from first meeting her that she had enough opinions to go around. When the boy discussed martial arts, there was a passion to be found in his words, though they were chosen carefully. She wondered just what could have been the reason, but felt as if it wasn't her place to ask something that could possibly be personal. Instead she decided to just go with it, "Well we all have our penchants." She said with a subtle smile that wasn't noticeable from her mouth so much as her cheekbones. She realized that there wasn't much time left of lunch, time had surely passed much more quickly than she had expected. She decided that she could perhaps try to see the boy again, she had enjoyed talking with him. "Martial Arts definitely requires a lot of training. If your up for it, would you like to go for a jog sometime?" her voice was casual, as if to ward off any misconceptions. |

When Joseph mentioned writing for the newspaper, Elaheh explained her activities as a member of the club. As expected, she's mostly written about the happenings in the school and the city. Mentioning that made her pause for a moment. Joe could guess why - that "incident" during the fireworks was still on everyone's minds, despite their earnest efforts to move on and forget about it. He had the misfortune of catching a glimpse of the pictures of the corpse on the internet and it wasn't pretty. Even though a journalist could have a field day on something like this, writing about it couldn't have been easy. Regardless, she continued on about how she had her own column in the newspaper. Yet again, the girl managed to surprise Joseph. He reckoned Elaheh must have been good at writing this sort of stuff if she was given an editorial column, considering that she apparently transferred just recently. "Say, in a the local newspaper back in my hometown, they had a section where readers could submit their poetry and such. My mom enjoys those quite a bit, even though apparently not that many people send them these days. Do you have something like that? You could probably submit some of your works if there is.", he said, trying to nudge the topic of the conversation back to a more creative form of writing, which Elaheh seemed to enjoy, but not as much as to leave him without a way to reply. After Joseph answered her questions about the martial arts, Elaheh only left a brief remark. Perhaps she wasn't into this kind of stuff and didn't feel like going further into details, not unlike his own actions when he hit the limits of his knowledge on pretty much every topic that popped up during their conversation. But then she said invited him for a jog some time later. It was a simple and honest proposition, but it was a bit surprising. Usually the girls in his hometown steered clear of the boy, probably because of his reputation as a troublemaker, but here he was just a new student. "Sure, why not? When, though? You said you had work on weekends and we obviously have school on weekdays", Joe asked. He wasn't that good of a runner, but the idea sounded nice - he did enjoy talking to Elaheh, all things considered. |

Elaheh pondered for a moment the possibility of submitting her work to the newspaper, as Joe had suggested, "You know, there actually is a section similar to what you describe, she said trying to remember just what it was called, "I have never considered that before." she said, wondering why such an idea hadn't crossed her mind, "You know, I just may try that sometime." She said smiling at the epiphany Joe had granted her. "Thank you," she said with a gentle, yet genuine smile. It seemed that her idea had gone better than she had expected, but he had asked for a time and date; something she should have expected. "Hmmmm... You know what? how about we can sort that out another time, I didn't notice what time it was and I need to get to my class early to get caught up. It was nice talking to you." Her words were gentle, If not a little apologetic. She felt bad for having to walk away as she was, but she was in more of a rush than she had realized. To feel better she promised herself that if she managed to find the boy tomorrow, she will sit beside him. That way it could all get sorted out later. But for the moment, her schedule had little time for her to even breath since she had arrived after the school year had started. Between journalism, Yoga, and School, she wished she could have moments to just step away from it all. She sighed to herself as she entered the hallway, knowing that day was not today. She eyed the halls, mapping it all out in her mind as she meandered her way down the desolate hallways. She felt a little lonely as the clicking of her heels echoed as she stepped towards the room her next class was to be held. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath as she grasped the handle to the door, exhaling and opening the door once she opened her eyes. [exit & social link up] |

After a slight pause as Elaheh considered Joseph's idea, she finally answered "You know, there actually is a section similar to what you describe. I have never considered that before. Thank you". Her face was adorned with a smile and Joe couldn't help but smile back. "Yeah, give it a shot. Heck, I'll look up that section in the next issue if you're going to write there", he said. Normally he wasn't into poetry, but he reckoned having a face to put to the words would make it more interesting to read. Unfortunately, Elaheh couldn't come up with a good time on the spot, which was understandable given that her schedule sounded rather busy. Her voice was apologetic as she suggested sorting it out some other time. "Well, I'll see you around then", Joe answered as she left, his words shaded with a hint of disappointment. He enjoyed talking to her and he wasn't sure if there would even be a next time. But that's a concern for the future - right now, just as the girl said, the lunch was almost over and he still hasn't finished his plate. The food has already gone kinda cold, but it was finished in a couple of minutes nonetheless. It was certainly an eventful lunch break, compared to his usual routine - normally, he would still have some time to kill before next class, now he barely had enough time to get there. Joseph hoped that it's wasn't a one-off occurrence. [exit and close thread] [SOCIAL LINK GO! ]
