As yet another school day came to an end, Rei Takeda calmly and quietly went over a mental checklist in his head. After the murder, so many tasks had come up, and so the bluenette went about completing them one by one. Of course, "tasks" didn't refer to actual work, but simply things he felt should be done. One such thing was speaking to Alicia, namely about how her tarot reading had come true, perhaps with an apology for how their last meeting had ended. Yes, this school year was really going to be an interesting one, if a potentially dangerous one. Sighing, the student exited his classroom and began to make his way through the hallways, which had, in the end of the day rush, become congested with people. Some of whom either forced their way through the crowd, or stopped and formed groups to speak with their friends. Most of said speech simply faded into the chatter, though it probably didn't matter in the slightest. What did, was when he was pushed. Surely, the students pouring out of classrooms and into others that housed clubs would cause the more impatient students to behave irrationally due to the slow exiting speed, but one such person simply pushed the bluenette as he walked in front of one of the sophomore classrooms, causing him to land rather inelegantly: Face first, on the ground. "Ow... Asshole." Of course, he was quick to at the very least rise into a sitting position, but it was at that moment that the boy noticed a slight drop in his visual acuity, namely in how people that had once seemed so close seemed to be slightly farther away than before. With a faint sigh, Rei began to trace his hands along the ground, looking for the pair of glasses that had fallen from his face. Hopefully, no one would step on them. After all, he had contacts but... they simply felt odd, hence the choice of glasses over them. (This OP is kind of bleh, my apologies.) |

Alicia's felt the current of people through the hallway, she had photography today. She clutched her camera to her chest as she struggled to shrink herself in response to the growing mass of people in the hallway. Each step was a struggle as she wove her way through the crowd, avoiding toes as best as she could as she tried to keep her body as close to the row of lockers as possible. Her anxiety spiked, if only for a moment, in response to the large group. She clutched her bag tighter, feeling the rectangular shape of her tarot deck, her only feeling of security. But the crowds had soon filled out, revealing a blue haired boy who was in search of his glasses. To Alicia's vision they were plain as day, but to the boy she has come to know, that clearly wasn't the case for him. "Rei are you alright?" she said, picking up the boys glasses and handing them to him. She was perplexed as to why of all places in the school, he was found here. He was not a sophomore, so chances are he wasn't leaving class from here. Knowing that the boy had a lung condition, she found herself watching to see if he was breathing alright. "What are you doing here?" she asked, not quite capable to hold in her confusion. She almost wondered if he had come here for her, but assumed that couldn't have been the case. The last time that they had shared words, it had ended on a tense note. Alicia was all but convinced that it was her fault, a result of her unable to word her words eloquently. An unfortunate result of her isolation. She sighed to herself silently, all but aware it was another thing to add to the growing list of things that she has screwed up. |

After a few minutes of pointlessly trailing his hands across the floor, the boy's ears picked up on a familiar tone. That was good, it saved him the trouble of having to find the girl. With a faint sigh, he turned to face the source of the voice, only to see the hand and what was placed inside them. Letting out a few shallow breaths, he sighed and took the glasses, putting them on his face at about the same time he stood and spoke. "Hello Alicia, and... I'm perfectly fine." Sighing, Rei brushed a bit of dirt from his uniform, observing the girl as best he could. Of course, there was a clear bit of worry, but that was obvious. She wouldn't have asked if he was alright if she was not so, correct? But there was something beneath it, something that seemed as though it was trying to break through that wall. Something he was unable to place until she asked her question, "Well, I actually came here for two things. Firstly, I just wanted to say that, with the murder.. your prediction came true, this school year really will be interesting. Dangerous, but interesting. Secondly, I suppose I wanted to know how you've been faring, since last we spoke. I apologize for that, by the way." It was at that point that the bluenette adjusted his glasses, and ran his fingers through his hair before starting in the same direction he'd been going originally, motioning with a pale hand for Alicia to follow. Of course, he didn't bother to add anything else quite yet, it would be wise to gauge reactions one or two at a time, to avoid the possibility of over-analysis or saying something imbecilic. Judging by the tone Rei used when he spoke of their previous meeting, it was clear that he was not pleased with his own actions. To run off in such a manner was.. simply rude, especially for the reason he had. To worry of pity or other such things when discussing such things with someone that held genuine understanding with him... was sickening. But again, as he'd thought in reflection of those events, old habits died hard. |

There was a look of relief on Alicia's face as he reassured her that he was alright. Since his speech was fine, it could be assumed that his breathing was fine as well. She gave the boy a bit of space as he got up and dusted himself off. She was unsure of what exactly to say, or if there even was anything to say. Her mind drew a blank as she just watched the boy, hoping he would be the first to say something. Luckily they both seemed to have the same idea in mind. "Well, I actually came here for two things. Firstly, I just wanted to say that, with the murder.. your prediction came true, this school year really will be interesting. Dangerous, but interesting. Secondly, I suppose I wanted to know how you've been faring, since last we spoke. I apologize for that, by the way." Alicia nodded in response to the first one rather solemnly, it was honestly something she wished to forget. She knew it was going to happen and she did nothing to stop it. And now it was too late, she felt as if the blood was on her hands, something that could never be washed clean. her thoughts grew rather dark, almost overshadowing his words as she stared blankly, almost beyond Rei. But her ears perked the moment when her ears him begin a second point. But his words perplexed her. "Sorry," she said with in a tone that reflected her puzzled thoughts, "What do you have to be sorry for? It should be I who should apologize." there was a bit of conviction in her tone, directed towards herself. She felt that there was only her to blame, a result of her inability to communicate her true thoughts. How was it his fault if he was offended by them? He led her to follow, waving a hand, without a word. She quickened her pace to stay in tune with him. She had a feeling of deja vu, since it was very similar to their last meeting at the boardwalk. Well it seemed that she was given a second chance, she knew that she would have to be mindful so that it doesn't end the same way as well. |

Following his standing, Rei's eyes picked up on the relief that spread out through Alicia's face. After all, how could they not? It was simply instinct to look for things to analyze, and that was something that simply needed to be noticed. Of course, he didn't pay any mind to it, since worry and pity were similar, but one was pride damaging and the other, a mostly foreign but interesting thing. Following his speech, the bluenette took note of how the redhead seemed to blank out for a moment. At first, he donned a reasonably concerned expression, due to the thought of her having another vision passing through his head. But that did not seem to be the case. Instead, with the reflected apology, the young man simply donned an expression of bewilderment for naught but a moment, and quickly responded, "No, I'm to blame. I forgot you were who you were when I left, if that sounds odd... well, by that I mean I forgot you'd understand, and not show pity." Rei paused for a moment, adjusted his glasses, and ran his fingers through his hair before realizing what had been said. Of course, by that time they'd commenced walking, giving the response almost enough time to fade away. However, he preserved it, he forced his words to hang into the air as if writing them out directly in front of the girl's face. It was odd, to show such emotion in one sentence. Regardless, the bluenette quickly added in another line, before those hanging words were forced down by the metaphorical force of "literary gravity", and before Alicia could give a response to such a thing. "...That sounded odd, didn't it? Please, disregard that statement's wording and general context, just remember that it was not your fault." |

Alicia listened to the boy's words, trying to engrave each individual syllable into her memory. His tone seemed to impart a certain feeling, as for what exactly it was she couldn't quite describe it. Though his words followed a confusing, if not broken, though process, but Alicia was able to understand just what he thought. He didn't get the reaction he expected, because he forgot their similar upbringings. She wondered if pity was really what he wanted though? If so, then that was where their similarities seemed to split. All Alicia wanted was to be understood, not to be consoled and told everything was peachy keen even if it wasn't. She was about to speak, but he cut her off before she even had the chance to open her mouth. He told her to disregard what she said, that all that mattered was that it wasn't her fault. She wondered what exactly motivated his correction, when the original statement sounded equally genuine. Perhaps he didn't want her to know that much? Regardless, she wouldn't pressure him further. She only nodded at first before speaking. "But that body found in the field..." she said, referring to his first statement, "I saw it," She swallowed hard, her mouth suddenly felt dry at the thought of it. She looked around nervously. Her anxiety made her heart pound, but she felt as if it was all about to burst from her. She knew the thoughts she bore couldn't be shared, not here anyway. "Will you come with me to the rooftop? she asked remembering the first place that they had met, "I want to be out of the hearing of others," she said, knowing no other place to hide. Her anxiety was full speed at this point, bad enough that she couldn't even make a sound, the only way Rei would have picked up on what she said was through reading her lips. She tried to urgently push back the tears threatening to form from behind her eyes. |

The response Alicia gave simply caused Rei's expression to turn to one of combined interest and worry. The former due to the obvious: a murder on campus was dangerous and intriguing, and while it was sickening to think he'd missed it, it was also beneficial to have the internet, live news feeds, and now, best of all, someone that had seen the body. However, the worry seemed to override that interest after Rei fully took note of the girl's tone, as well as the constant looking around, as if the walls of the corridor would begin to start closing in on them, or some monstrosity would burst through the windows and kill everyone. Regardless, the bluenette simply nodded to the bit about going to the rooftop, it was private and comforting, and hopefully the door was open. With a faint sigh and an adjustment of his glasses, he moved in that direction. Being unable to read lips, and remaining entirely focused on their destination left Rei in the dark about what Alicia's final statement was, though it likely didn't matter at all. Running his fingers through his hair, the bluenette began to wonder how the girl was able to even remotely cope with seeing the body for the first time, if merely thinking about it or something similar had generated such a reaction. "Alright." It was little more than a verbal confirmation to the previous statement, a confirmation that was entirely pointless given the sudden change in direction. Arriving at the door, Rei breathed a sigh of relief upon noticing it was open. At that point, he made his way up the stairs as best he could. Trying to simultaneously reach the roof as fast as he could, but also trying not to provoke his respiratory issues in the process. As a result, by the time the duo had reached the door to the roof, Rei found himself letting out a few short coughs and ragged breaths, but nothing that lead to a fit or issues. With a sigh, he moved to use a pale hand to open the access door that lead outside, only to immediately bring up his free hand as a means of shielding his eyes. Walking to the edge of the rooftop, and leaning against one of the railings, the bluenette turned to face the redhead, and finally decided to speak... But no words would come, at least nothing that would prove even remotely beneficial to the situation other than the obvious "Are you alright?" when she clearly wasn't, and things of that nature. (OOC: My apologies for this one's quality and the possibility that I misread your last post.) |

Alicia struggled to calm herself on their way to the rooftop. Her heart's palpitations sent shock waves through her very core. She tried to not give into it, trying the various relaxation techniques she was taught while following behind Rei, but it was all to no avail. She unbottoned her jacket and loosened the necktie that the uniform required, in hopes to help calm her down, she needed something in her hands, something to toy with as they made their way up the stairs. She felt terrible for putting Rei through this as his coughs echoed throughout the stairwell. She felt bad for the boy, but there was something inside of her, a nagging that that wished he wasn't so loud. Her mind was in a survival mode, her thoughts were not those she would think in reality, and she understood that, but she couldn't help but feel shocked in response to such a thing even popping up in her head. Alicia sighed in unison with Rei, upon seeing the open door. She felt more safe in this sanctuary, but it was also the same place as her revelation. It was as if her apprehension was now of a different nature than before. But despite it all the cool breeze and warm sun seemed to calm her mind more than she thought. She closed her eyes and studied what she heard. She clutched the railing as tight as her hands would allow, almost feeling her knuckles turn white. She studied the tension in her muscles before releasing them all to study the tension fade. It wasn't exactly a miracle worker, but it calmed her enough to be able to speak. "It was terrible, hardly recognizable," She said as she opened her eyes, gazing out to the beautiful vista before her. An entire horizon of steel, laced with hints of greenery towards it's edge. "I cannot help but think of what I saw. Not just in the field, but the vision." she knew she could continue, she could go on about this until her face turned blue, but she had to give him a moment to digest it all. |

Takeda continued to lean against the railing as Alicia entered behind him. Despite his not noticing the exact extent of the girl's anxiety, that was to say, how tight she clutched the railing, as if she would be sucked into some kind of inescapable void... he was certainly able to tell when the tension faded from the girl's form, and breathed an internal sigh of relief at that. Adjusting his glasses, the bluenette took in the girl's words, giving a faint nod of affirmation and understanding as she spoke. While it was clear that the body was not recognizable, it was more interesting to note how the girl was plagued by thoughts of visions and seeing the body, even if the extent of Rei's own understanding was merely the occasional image from the web, and given his own lack of fear towards it all... well, his empathy was about as limited as it was when they'd first met. With a faint sigh, Rei detached himself from his more relaxed position, and proceeded to pace back and forth as he pondered on how to respond to such a thing. Obviously reassurance wouldn't do much to help her situation, and it wasn't as if he would have wanted it had he been her, despite others maybe wanting a little aid. Coming to a halt, the bluenette began to speak, "I see, please continue." It wasn't exactly the best course of action, but it was certainly better than attempting to provide comfort when he couldn't even personally understand the problem. With another faint sigh, the bluenette made his way back over to the girl from his present position, leaning on the railing once more, and looking down at the few people in the courtyard below while awaiting a response, and listening to the hum of the wind. (I can't seem to get into posting today, my apologies.) |

(Sorry about my lateness) Alica didn't quite know how the boy would react to her turmoil, or even understand her plight. But she knew she had taken the boy this far, and he knew her better than anyone else in the entire city; perhaps even the entire world. She took a slow, deep breath before continue. God knows when this flood of words will stop. "It is all my fault that person had died. I saw this coming for over a week in advance and I did nothing. I know that the meaning eluded me until now, but I didn't even bother to look into it." She turned herself away from the railing, leaning her back on it. She wondered if sharing such information to Rei would make her feel better, but she felt as if the weight on her shoulders had increased exponentially. She slid down the railing until she was sat on the ground. She rested her elbows on her knees, supporting her forehead in defeat. "But what could i even do, the school has records of my medical history, they would just blame mental illness and have me sent to some psych ward. And I can't simply take on a murderer on my own. Look at me, I can hardly lift half my body weight." she said aknowledging she was powerless to do anything. Although still audible, Her tone dipped; as if she was only talking to herself, "And here I am. Left to simply watch it all go down." She felt like crying, but lacked the tears to do so. She sat there quietly, waiting for Rei to respond to what she figured to be something difficult to respond to. She couldn't help but feel guilty for burdening Rei with such matters. She simply added it to the mental checklist of all her other failures. |

Taking in Alicia's issues in silence, Rei sighed and adjusted his glasses, curious as to how to respond to such a thing. Her feeling guilt for such a thing, something that could not be changed because of things she herself was not responsible for, well... to him, it was something that only happened in novels and honestly, it seemed to mirror a situation from one of the psych books he'd read. With the girl's melancholy statements over and done with, Rei froze up for a moment, and slowly turned to face her. Sighing, the bluenette straightened his uniform and adjusted his glasses, before sitting down. What could truly be said? It wasn't as though the psychology books had spelled out how to deal with the exact situation to him, and it certainly wasn't as though he understood it from his own experiences. Giving the most kindly, almost apologetic smile he could, the bluenette began to speak, "I see... Can you take a little solace in the fact that this murder was humanly impossible?" The bluenette paused, as if giving the girl a moment to let his words sink in, and question their meaning. Of course, Rei would've rather avoided discussing those notions with anyone now, considering the day he'd proposed such a theory he had waved it around like some kind of triumphant flag to Sora, Yoshima, Jhon, Hakuro, and Tory. But perhaps that was because it was the only theory he'd had. After all, despite knowing a girl that had seen visions... Rei Takeda was not one to believe in magic or the occult in any way, shape, or form. Certainly those things made for good tales in books, but in reality? They were ludicrous, things like magic and the supernatural. However, if there was no human element and the body was as disfigured as it was, what possibilities were there other than those that seemed impossible by human standards? "...Allow me to explain. The body was hung somewhere near the fields, correct? I propose that firstly, the body could not have been planted there before the event, as the staff were likely preparing for the Gala and would be likely to hear the clinking of chains, or something of that nature. Secondly, it could not happen during the event, for students would notice those same things and... it would be very difficult to pass by such a crowd undetected with a corpse. I believe that the murder was therefore, humanly impossible. Of course, the supernatural is not necessarily an option simply because of how imbecilic and ludicrous it sounds but... I've yet to rule it out because it is the only other solution." It was quite clear form the way that he spoke and even the amount of feeling on Rei's normally pale, almost robotic face that he felt pressured to say something that had even the slightest chance at comforting the girl. However, given his social experience, there was simply nothing that could be done and... somewhere in the back of his head, there was a small voice simply telling him he'd made the situation worse. As a result, Takeda felt compelled to apologize, and so he did. "..My apologies, I'm afraid I simply don't know what to say." Rei slouched in his sitting position, and let out a faint sigh of both irritation and defeat. The latter giving birth to the former. Of course, his tone of voice and the nature of the sigh matched up perfectly, only the speech had a sort of reluctance about it. (It's perfectly fine. Sorry about my poor post quality.) |

Alicia took deep breaths as she faced the floor in defeat as she looked downward. But Rei's words echoed in her mind, "Not possible?" she thought with evident confusion. She turned her glance to Rei with a raised eyebrow, inviting the boy to continue. He spoke about how there was no witnesses to the situation, that no one had heard or seen a thing until students filled the field-house to find a mutilated corpse hung be chains. She did admit that he made a few points that didn't make sense to her. She felt like there was a piece to the puzzle that they were both missing, the key to a vista of what truly was going on. As H. P. Lovecraft said, "The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. Some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age.” It seemed to fit the situation perfectly, the truth was clearly out there, but do we really want to know the unpleasant truth? She let Rei finish his explanation. She was about to speak, but Rei began to speak again. He was apologizing for what he had said, that a lack of words to express his emotions was the culprit. "I don't think words really can describe it," she said in a voice that seemed to resemble defeat, but there wasn't a hint of sadness in her voice. "But the undeniable fact is that the body was there. The fact of the matter is that these events, be it natural or supernatural, are occurring." She wasn't sure, but she felt like it was best to start with fact, a solid, indisputable ground. She felt like it was time to put the boy's mind to the test, "Rei, you know a lot about psychology. Have you ever profiled a serial killer?" She for one had not, but felt like if anyone could, it would be him. |

Rei simply gave a nod of affirmation to Alicia's statement, it was true. Whether or not it was a natural or supernatural occurrence, it had happened and THAT was the key point. Regardless, one couldn't help but wonder... if it was in fact, a killer, how had he or she managed to pull it off? The bluenette let out a faint exhale and began to truly understand society's obsession with violence, murderers, and mysteries. To the question of profiling, Takeda simply smiled and shook his head. To profile a serial killer required someone to be involved with the police, since a few of the aspects of it involved not only psychological assessments but also some forensic work and access to a crime scene, both of which he simply did not have. However, adjusting his glasses, the bluenette donned a stoic expression and began to speak, "I have not had any experience in doing such things before, though I'm vaguely aware of how it's done, therefore... I suppose the experience would prove interesting, and I'd be more than happy to make an attempt based on both experiences with psych and a lot of detective fiction." With that, he stood up and began to dig around in his pockets, producing a cell phone, a pocket notebook, and a pen. With that, he began to tap away at the smart phone's touchscreen, only to let out a few sighs while doing so. In a matter of seconds, the image of the corpse was displayed rather prominently on the screen, with several others copied from forum posts and blogs little more than a few taps away. It was only then that Rei donned a pensive expression, and truly began to think about the situation. Everything in the world simply seemed to melt away, save for himself, the girl, the phone, and the notebook. Scanning the image with his red-brown hues, Rei tried his best to vividly remember what he'd read about profiling, as well as trying to piece together the general puzzle. In short, it was interesting, like the world's most extreme strategy game, making even things like chess look barbaric in comparison to him for naught but a moment. After several minutes of thinking, Takeda began to pace and mutter incoherently to himself as if trying to piece his thoughts together, only to stop, turn to Alicia, pocket his phone, and begin speaking while simultaneously scribbling away furiously in the notebook. Naturally, mind, mouth, and hand all worked at a mile a minute, with Takeda's tone foregoing the stoicism for something more airy and 'normal' in comparison. "Firstly, keep in mind that I am not a professional nor can we create a complete profile based on the data we have. After all, we do not know much about the victim and I was honestly waiting for the police to make statements before looking into this with some fellow interested individuals, since we'd agreed to do such a thing. However, as far as I am aware... If there is a killer, he/she is extremely intelligent and premeditated this crime. Our killer is likely an older man or woman. Perhaps multiple individuals were involved, but that is not the point of this assessment. Regardless, as shown by the corpse's mutilation the person or group was either extremely infuriated with the victim, which is unlikely since a murder of this scale could not truly be a crime of passion... Or they are highly mentally ill, possibly schizophrenic, given the uneven nature of the body's defilement... I'd like to say that our potential killer is a show-off as well, due to where the body was hung. Lastly, since it took place during the Opening Gala at some point I can assume it would be someone likely to be there, likely a staff member given the previous assessment about age and intelligence. But even the psych book stated profiling is prone to inaccuracy, so... perhaps we're dealing with a very twisted student, or something." Naturally, while giving his profile Rei preoccupied himself with frequent adjustments of his glasses. When he stopped his statement, he seemed to visibly slow down on both a mental and physical level in comparison to his analysis and answer, eventually returning to his apathy and his original position next to the girl. It was only then that he let out an exasperated sigh, returned his notebook to his coat pocket, and added one final line in a dull tone, "Suddenly I feel as though I'm in a detective novel, though... I'm not an opium addict, so I suppose I can't even hope to rival Holmes." Though it was hard to tell, such a statement was an extremely dry attempt at humour, one that even Rei resisted the urge to facepalm at immediately after saying it. |

Alicia nodded as the boy went through a his notes, she refused to look at the phone though, the real thing was enough. She had some knowledge in psychology, due to the appointments with a psychologist, but the majority of it's forensic's branch was foreign to her. But she could tell that Rei's connections did make sense to her, it had to be intentional. She only decided to make one point as he went on, "I'm not very knowledgeable in such matters, but given the.." she paused before finding the word, "mutilation, and the obvious relocation of the body mark him as an organized serial killer," she knew only the two archetypes, organized and disorganized, but this being the more scary of the two. "Those are the ones who can walk around normally, with most people being none the wiser." she couldn't help but shiver. The thought that he could be anywhere was something that hadn't quite hit her yet. She looked to Rei, hoping that she was wrong; that she was drawing incorrect assumptions, but she knew that it made too much sense. How else could a killer make his way through a school building? Although who may have been narrowed down a bit, even if in an a very general fashion -though that was the best they could muster-, there was still a matter of how and why. She slumped a tad in defeat as she looked up towards the sky. She heard Rei make what seemed to be a joke, it was an odd one, but she giggled silently to herself upon hearing it. She felt a part in her demand seriousness though, she looked to Rei with a sober expression, "Do you think things will get better? Or will things conti-" she stopped herself, knowing that such knowledge was out of even his reach. She sighed silently to herself, feeling the weight of the universe itself once again. With the girl's response, Rei simply nodded and once again retrieved the notepad, silently wondering why he'd bothered to put it away in the first place. At that, he jotted down the one thing that frankly, should've been obvious from the get-go, even before all of the attempts at psychoanalysis and whatnot: the killer was intelligent, organized, and they damned well knew they were the former. Sighing, the bluenette came to realize that such listings were really just repeats or rephrases of the things he'd already written alongside his analysis notes, but it wasn't as though it really mattered in the long run. After all, there could come a time when he'd be incompetent and mess up one word's meaning. To the question of whether or not things would continue, a question the girl quickly cut off (perhaps because she was aware that no one could truly tell such a thing, or maybe she just wanted to drop the subject altogether), Rei simply shrugged and proceeded to rub his temple utilizing his right hand before giving a verbal response, "...I'm afraid I don't have the ability to deduce such things. I may be intelligent, but I am by no means an oracle or a prophet." Finishing that statement, the bluenette adjusted his glasses and once again pocketed the notebook, only to sit next to her once more, as opposed to remaining standing. The melancholy demeanour the girl presented was certainly something Rei could understand, given the apparent hopelessness of the situation but... what could be done to drive off such a despair? |
