Monday evening, 3 PM. Aaron Routakorpi was sitting on the steps of the Cityhall, waiting. The massive building towered behind him, casting a shadow over the entrance, but he wasn't impressed by it. People walked past him, but though he noticed them, he didn't mind them. Men and women with suits and briefcases, tourists with their cameras and trip-guides and lots of other kind of people. But no sight of Alex, that yellow haired boy with tendency to get into trouble. They were supposed to meet in front of the Cityhall, after school, but he was yet to arrive. Luckily for Alex, Aaron was very patient person.

Aaron was deep within his thoughts. or whole weekend, he had wondered if he was making the right decision, by joining the Alex in his wild idea. However, no matter from what perspective he looked at it, this was the only course of action he could take. Speaking about his theory to the Police would only be regarded as wild fantasy, or worse, make him look suspicious. So, he needed to confirm his theory with Alex, and hoped that he had a plan, if they would have to sneak inside the hall.

Crud, crud, crud! After that hassling morning, Alex almost had no time to eat and go to his last class. He was glad he still arrived as the bell ringed, so he was safe. BUT HELL, NOW HE WAS LATE FOR HIS MEETING WITH AARON! "Damnitdamnitdamnitdamnitdamnit!!!!" he screamed, as he tugged on his dark blue messenger bag he used for school. People around him on the street turned their eyes to the shades-wearing blond, almost as if they were looking at an anime or a cartoon character. He really needed to get a board or a bike again. Why did he leave them back at his hometown? By the way, maybe he could get his surfboard back by mail? The Summer would end and he still wanted to try out Rockport's waves. Looking around, he saw the signs and maneuvered his own turns and body weight so he could move around faster and without hindrances, even though he was running through filled venues.

Finally reaching the Town Hall, he looked up at the building. Somehow it reminded him of the American Congress building, in Washington. Continuing to run, he finally noticed a friendly...... okay, a familiar face. Aaron had probably been waiting for a while, but Alex had been stuck to the seat of his classroom, due to some other douchebags irritating the teacher and making the whole class pay dearly for it. "Sorry I'm la- WAAA!!!" he was apologizing, before his foot stuck on a step of the walkway, making fly some considerable meters, before landing face first on the ground right in front of Aaron. Yes, yes, very exaggerated. Of course he didn't fly, but he did trip and hit the deck right in front of the monk-looking boy. Getting up, he dusting himself and took out his shades, to see if they were okay.

"Like I was saying, sorry I'm late. You said you wanted to tell me some stuff, right? Well, let's hear it. I think I know what you're gonna say though." he said, with his usual energy pumping from all sides. It would be strange if he wasn't energetic.

It was easy to spot Alex in the crowd, due the high position Aaron was sitting on. Then again, Alex wasn't exactly difficult to find in the crowd. Being loud and scaring people around him wasn't that discreet. Aaron hoped that he wouldn't draw too much attention to himself inside the Cityhall. Aaron had to give him credit for his speed, though. It didn't take long for him to reach the Aarons location, and when he did:
"Sorry I'm la- WAAA!!!" He said and fell face first to the ground. Aaron jumped up, and was about to ask was he okay, but Alex surprised him by standing up like nothing had happened.
"Like I was saying, sorry I'm late. You said you wanted to tell me some stuff, right? Well, let's hear it. I think I know what you're gonna say though." He said and took his shades off.
"Right. Can we go over there?" Aaron asked and pointed at the tree, that was 20 meters away from them. He didn't want extra ears to hear what they were about to discuss.

Aaron looked around, when they had reached the tree. Not too many people walk close to it, so Aaron thought it would be safe to talk. He turned to Alex, and looked him straight in too the eyes.
"Okay, before we do anything, I need to confirm something with you. After that, I'll share my theory with you. First, you remember that rumour about people gone missing, you told me in the library? Was there anything else you know about it?"

As Alex followed Aaron to a tree nearby, his eyes drifted to others. Who would even be hearing them? He really didn't think anyone would be interested in the things two teenagers would discuss, even if they sounded serious. I mean, who'd believe two kids, who are hardly out of their child years, when it came to stuff like "sneaking into the City Hall" or "finding out the truth about the rumor of disappearing people". Listening to what Aaron had to say though, the blond tilted his head to the side for a bit, trying to remember the exact details. "Well, the only things I heard about it were that, ever since about a year ago, here and there, people just up and disappear. Their homes are left intact, they write no goodbye letters nor do they come in contact with their acquaintances. Nobody lays eyes on them forever. Almost like they were-"

He froze. The events of this past weekend came to mind. The shades in his hands dropped to the ground. Looking a bit more worried. He put his hand on Aaron's shoulder and got closer. "Hey hey, don't tell me what I think you're telling me. You think someone is kidnapping people, mutilating them and then leaving them gross like that in a place where it would grab most attention, don't you?" he asked, whispering. His voice wasn't as chilled or reminiscing as before. He was really intrigued. Though, to be able to make such a connection, Aaron had to.... "Tell me, Aaron, why did you think up that kind of link? I need to know the details, if you can even tell me. I need to know, before we go on this seriously dangerous quest." he asked for information, while pointing towards the entrance of the City Hall behind him.

Alex seemed somewhat confused by Aaron's question. Still, he answered:
"Well, the only things I heard about it were that, ever since about a year ago, here and there, people just up and disappear. Their homes are left intact, they write no goodbye letters nor do they come in contact with their acquaintances. Nobody lays eyes on them forever. Almost like they were-" Alex stopped his sentece, as he seemed to realise why Aaron had asked that question. He didn't even seem to notice he had dropped his shades. He stepped closer and placed his hand on Aaron's shoulder and said:
"Hey hey, don't tell me what I think you're telling me. You think someone is kidnapping people, mutilating them and then leaving them gross like that in a place where it would grab most attention, don't you?" Aaron didn't say anything. He just looked at Alex's eyes and nodded slightly.

"Tell me, Aaron, why did you think up that kind of link? I need to know the details, if you can even tell me. I need to know, before we go on this seriously dangerous quest." Alex asked, his carefree tone gone, replaced by curious but slightly worried tone.
"Tell you the truth, at first it was just a hunch. But more I thought of it, more sense it made. I assume you were on the crowd during the fireworks? Then you must have seen the condition of the body. It was so teared apart that you couldn't know was it a male or female. And I don't mean just a face or skin. My sensei had me read lot about anatomy, so I can tell difference of man and woman from other things too, like by widith of pelvis. In this case, I couldn't tell anything by that either. Can you imagine how much power and accuracy that would require? That's why I assumed that the killer, or killers, had to use lot of time to put the victim in that condition."

Aaron took a deep breath and continued:
"Then I remembered that rumour you told me in the library. It was a long shot, and it could be just a coincidence. But then I red this." He took piece of newspaper from his pocket, and showed it to Alex. It was clip of today's "Rockport Daily." It was a frontpage-story, concentrated on the case of "Chain-Murder."
"Look at that small article at the end." Aaron said. It reads:
"Unconfirmed sources claim that there has been similiar deaths around Rockport. RPD's PR-officer has been unwilling to comment this rumour, when confronted by our reporter."
Aaron looked at Alex. and asked:
"Is my theory making any sense to you, or am I just being paranoid?"

Hearing the news told by his friend, Alex's eyes widened slowly and his mind started to create an almost unlimited amount of conjectures over this matter. It was true that the corpse was REALLY butchered. Not even his usual guesses could get the gender right and it seemed like Aaron's trained eye was no good either. But nothing was set in stone until he laid his eyes on the piece of article. Going over the lines a few times, he looked straight at his junior. "Aaron, I think we might just have stumbled into a freaking huge mess. Not only does this concern the rumor, but it also involves the police and some other entities. We were right to look for the archives. This needs a thorough check. You're no paranoid. Heck, you'd probably a better rumor-buster than me." he complimented the other.

Swiftly, he picked up his shades and put them on his face. Alex turned around to look at the entrance of the City Hall. "This isn't the first occurrence of these kinds of mutilation incidents, by what that article says. If so, there must be a special file or a group of files detailing just what the hell is going on in this city. We have to get to the bottom of this. This isn't just some silly sneaking mission anymore, this is a very important and necessary mission we're about to start." With that, he turned his head back to look at the other boy. "Aaron, this will be dangerous. If we get caught, it's juvy, or even jail, for both of us. A girl cried her heart out this weekend because of some bastard's crime. I can't forgive that. You have no reason to accompany me, though. If you want to turn back, it's your chance now." Remembering Sunny's frightened face and her tears, Alex gritted his teeth in anger. He wasn't going to let whoever committed these murders to walk out scott free.

For whole duration of Aaron's monologue, Alex seemed doubtful, until he showed him the article. It seemed that he didn't think Aaron's theory all that crazy.

He was relieved that Alex didn't think he was crazy. Alex picked his glasses and turned to face the Cityhall.

Aaron thought what Alex had said. It was true, that this was dangerous and that they would get into real trouble, if they would get caught. Alex seemed to have more than just curiousity in the game, something more personal. But what reason Aaron had? No reason at all. This case, though he had already involved in it, didn't concern his life in anyway. Then why was he here?

"Remeber, Aaron. Good men aren defined by things they do out of their free will, even if it's hard for them." Words spoken by a man, gone years ago, rang in the mind of Aaron. Yes. He knew what to do now. Small grin raised on his face.
"You're done? So, what's the plan?"

Alex was left speechless. This guy was still going forward, to what could very well mean the very end of their sweet youth, despite not having any good reason to do so? Why? Why would a Main Character follow such a useless character into these situations? Was it what they call "Hero Rescue"? Must be. A smile slowly etched itself onto the blond boy's face, as he slowly loosened his fists. He had let go of his anger. Seeing such a responsible junior, how could a senior be angered as easily as that? Yes, he had very good reasons, concerning the girl he had sworn to protect and to help at any given moment, but that was no excuse. There's never a good excuse to resort to violence, right? That was a lesson he had learned long ago, back in his hometown. He shouldn't do to others what he didn't want done to him. Even if friendship was at stake. Even if LOVE was at stake, he should only raise his fists as a last result.

Chuckling, the boy turned fully around towards Aaron. "Simple." he said, with a smile. Quickly opening the zipper on his messenger bag. This was why he had been so late. With a tug, he took out what seemed to be a costume. "Hehe!!" he laughed, as he presented a shaolin monk costume to Aaron. "This'll be our way in. You dress up as a monk who is on tour with some group." he explained, as he nodded towards the groups of tourists going in and out. Throwing the clothes at the boy, he tugged another time at the bag, to reveal..... a brown, plain, normal suit and a pair of glasses. It really suited the image of a teacher, somehow. "And, if you're wondering, I'll go dressed as a professor who is curious about the city itself and so has come to get to know the Town Hall, its departments, and overall personnel, so as to facilitate his research. These glasses are fake, by the way." he explained even further, a smile still painted on his mug. Now, they needed a place to change clothing. Where.....

When Alex turned around, anger was gone from his eyes. It was filled with his usual, confident care-freenes.
"Simple." He answered to Aaron's question, and started to dig his bag. When he found what he was looking for, he laughed and presented it to Aaron. His smile faded, and was replaced by questioning look, as he realised what it was. Shaolin-monk garments.
"This'll be our way in. You dress up as a monk who is on tour with some group." Then throwed it to Aaron. When Alex mentioned it at the library, Aaron thought he was kidding. Apparently, he wasn't.

"Is this really necessary?" Aaron asked and raised the clothes Alex had given him. He really didn't mind wearing it, but he sure as hell wanted to know WHY he had to.
"What is my objective, anyway?"

Smiling, Alex's eyes turned into a very interested grin. "I'm glad you asked. You'll be doing the 'lost on a tour guide' routine and meet up with me on the office sector. We should be able to find what we want in there. They should have archives on police reports within some sort of office room." he explained. "Oh, and as for 'necessary', yes it is." he said, pointing to the uniform both boys were wearing. "First of all, wearing our school uniforms would totally blow our chances of being believed in in the first place when we say we need to look at the archives. They'd think we're kids playing around, unless you have some sort of connection within the government to prove we're not joking." he continued. "Second, if we're caught, the school will be directly involved. We don't want to burden other with our mistakes, right?"

The moment he said that, a smile was on his face. Not the kind of energetic smile he usually put on, more of a.... weakly kind smile, as if he didn't like to be a nuisance, even if he was going to do it anyways. Snapping his fingers, though, he almost predicted that the other may be asking for a third reason, so he said it outright. "And of course, to give this a third one, because it's fun as all hell! Pretending to be someone you're not, even for a few hours, is always fun, especially when you can make people really think you're that kind of person. ......... Maybe I should behave like a Main Character then.... Wonder if people would buy it if I did....." The last two parts were mumbled to himself as he turned around. "Okay we need a place to change...... How about that alley over there?" he asked, pointing towards an alleyway not too far.

Somehow he felt that Alex had opened up a little to him. Did he really trust Aaron that much, that he could talk him about his personal matters?

"Okay we need a place to change...... How about that alley over there?" Alex said and pointed at the alley close to them. Aaron simply nodded, and followed Alex to the alley. Alley had two large carbage containers, and they decided to use them as cover to change clothes. Aaron inspected his gear. Alex had been through-out with these disguises, for clothes matched perfectly to those used by Shaolin. It even had wooden prayer's-beads. Still, Aaron thought something was missing. He searched quickly through his school-bag, and pulled out the watercolours he had used in Art's-class. He used brown color to make 8 small dots in his fore-head, perfecting the disguise.
"Alex, can you explain what this "lost on a tour guide-routine" is? This is the first time I'm doing something like this."

Having Aaron following him, the pair went behind a few dumpsters and did what they had to do. Change clothes, that is. As he looked at Aaron's surprise, Alex felt proud. Of course the clothes he had given were on the spot. Who was he, an idiot who copied stuff from movies or from TV shows? He knew how to properly research stuff! Like his usual self, he loved knowing his truth. It was why he loved rumors. There was so much to find out about them. Either ways, after finishing up his change of clothing Aaron asked something incredible. the blond boy simply stood there, in one foot, as he was trying to get into his pants. His eyes slowly widened and his sunglasses slowly traveled down the bridge of his nose. he had never heard someone not knowing the "lost on a tour" routine. It was the most popular sneaking routine in any movie. Hell, even Jackie Chan had done it a few times. Mike Meyers used it very often as well.

Finishing putting the brown pants on, Alex took off his shades, and put the white shirt within his trousers. While preparing his tie, the boy finally sighed and looked really worried. "Are you serious? Please tell me you aren't! It's just, like, THE most famous sneaking routine EVER! It's used in every place you see. Books, shows, movies, hell, even comics use it more than often, not to mention video-games and anime." he explained. Finishing with his tie, he put on the "teacher glasses" he had brought and put on his brown blazer. He now looked like a real teacher. Putting his previous clothes inside his bag, he looked again at Aaron. "Come on, I'll finish explaining while we walk." He nodded for the other to follow him towards the Hall. The street wasn't really that filled, only with a few tourists passing by, so their change of clothes was successful and their identity was protected.

"So, like I was saying, the 'lost on a tour' routine is, as the name says, look for a chance in the tour guidance where you can fake something like praying or tying a shoelace and then pretend you don't know where they went. In this case, the ultimate goal is to sneak in to meet up with me." he further explained, as they entered through the doors of the Town Hall. Just then, Alex started breaking in cold sweat. In a big flashy cardboard, was an announcement. 'Town Hall Tours! 20 Dollars Per Person!! Yes, a complete tour of the City Hall, including the offices where all the action happens!' And so was spelled the end of Alexander Glade. He totally didn't know about this. He was sure he had come here before and that announcement wasn't there. If Aaron took notice of that- Too late, he was more than dead. "O-Oh! I forgot I made other arrangements, so..." he tried to shake it, by taking a step back.

Alex's reaction implied that Aaron had asked something stupid.
"Are you serious? Please tell me you aren't! It's just, like, THE most famous sneaking routine EVER! It's used in every place you see. Books, shows, movies, hell, even comics use it more than often, not to mention video-games and anime." He asked clearly not believing Aaron didn't know something so obvious.
"I don't watch that much TV. And books I've read so far don't mention it." Aaron answered in his usual tone, while hiding his bag under the dumpster. It didn't fit the Shaolin-monk image, so he decided to leave it behind, along with his ID's. Just in case...

"Come on, I'll finish explaining while we walk." Alex said, now dressed in his costume. Aaron started following him, trying to get in the character by walking head down and rolling the beads in his hand.
"So, like I was saying, the 'lost on a tour' routine is, as the name says, look for a chance in the tour guidance where you can fake something like praying or tying a shoelace and then pretend you don't know where they went. As they reached the Cityhall's entrance, Alex's expression changed dramatically. Aaron wondered why, but then he saw the sign, that said that entrance fee was 20 dollars. Aaron turned to look at Alex. Could he really have forgotten something this simple?
"O-Oh! I forgot I made other arrangements, so..." Apparently, he had. Aaron sighed and put 20 dollars-bill in his hand.
"I take it that these clothes cost something?. Don't worry, This one's on me."

Right when he thought Aaron was going to whip out some of that monk style beat down, the boy instead gave Alex a 20 dollars bill. Looking at note a bit confused, he was about to ask why he had given him that, but then he just dismissed it. Maybe.... Maybe Aaron thought the disguises really were convincing? Well, to tell the truth, Aaron looked pretty cool as a monk and Alex, with his hair completely pulled back and not in its usual pompousness and normal glasses instead of sunglasses, plus that whole suit he was wearing, it all looked pretty disguising. They were unrecognizable to someone who hadn't met them countless time. Well, Aaron was still more recognizable than Alex, but even so. Guards didn't memorize the faces of EVERY SINGLE PERSON who went through those doors.

Though, they'd have to be careful with security cameras. Or else they'd be screwed. A LOT. Either ways, closing his fist over the bill, Alex smiled at the other, nodding. Going over at the counter, he bought his own ticket and waited for Aaron to get his own. After that, they both joined a group that was waiting for their turn. Leaning against a part of the wall, he signaled Aaron to lean against it, signaling Aaron to discreetly lean or stand around within range of communication before starting. "Okay, I'm now going to review the objectives and contents of our mission here, so pay close attention." he explained, before coughing while looking sideways. "Your mission, Aaron Routakorpi, if you wish to accept it is: Sneak into the archives located somewhere within this facility. Once inside, we will search for police reports and any other reports that might indicate some sort of disappearance event. We'd also want at least the names, number of incidents and reports on the ways the bodies were found." he talked discreetly.

Coughing again, he looked at the guards that were stationed around the entrance. "Contact will have to be brought down to minimum level. If the archives come into your sights, do whatever it takes to stay behind. You can fake that you're praying or tying your shoelace or something, I'll come and support your act. That is the only point where we can rendezvous and talk to each other during this tour. Keep your profile to a minimum, don't get spotted by the cameras either. There is a very high possibility we will have to leave through some VERY unconventional means, so I'd like you to also memorize any windows or other ways of escaping. Understood?" he talked in the lowest of voices, so that only Aaron and Alex would be able to hear the directions.

At first Alex looked a bit confused, but then he smiled as he clenched the bill in his fist. Aaron wasn't exactly sure where did Alex's initial reaction to the tours prize came from, but it diidn't matter. Aaron payed his entry after Alex (with load of 1 dollar bills and Quarters) and the moved closer to Alex, So he could hear what he had to say.
"Okay, I'm now going to review the objectives and contents of our mission here, so pay close attention." Aaron did, though he had closed his eyes and mumbled something that sounded like praying. He slightly nodded to make Alex aware of this.

Aaron didn't stop his fake-praying, but he nodded again slightly, and small grin raised on his face again. He knew the risks, but he could not help feeling excited. Let the mission begin...
