It was lucnh break in Ravencroft as claire stepped out of her classroom, not caring to hear anything from the other students in her class she hurried along, rounding several staircases. She remembered the night of the dance, it was a wonderful affair and she would remember it for time to come. she only wished to have a walk and some air, the cafeteria food wasnt really to her tastes. and who knew perhaps she would find someone new to talk to. Her uniform rippled around her as she wore a fancier version. forced to wear the blue and gold she aquested to it. she preferred red and gold but she could deal with this. she did her best to get sex appeal out of it but with the style of it, it jsut didnt work, especially with her small frame. It was frustrating honestly, but she would never show it, in her frustration she came face to face with someone she hadnt seen for a little bit. "you know, mr takeda you never did call." she said this in front of a few other students as well. Rumors were sure to spread. |

Lunch time was yet another mundane ritual that served only to break up the day, especially considering that about 80 percent of the time, Rei Takeda did not feel hungry in the slightest. Maybe it was the iron deficiency, or perhaps the vampire jokes kids in Osaka made held a little bit of truth to them? Regardless, it wasn't as though it mattered. Letting out a faint exhale, the bluenette rounded the corner only to run his fingers through his hair. If there was one pleasant thing about lunch, it would be the prospect of meeting interesting people, or perhaps the fact that it broke up the even more mundane classes... coming to those two points, the Japanese boy concluded that perhaps his original distaste for the break was fairly imbecilic, especially considering such facts were only based off of his experiences at home. Adjusting his glasses, the bluenette came around yet another corner and immediately came face to face with perhaps the one person in the world he really didn't want to converse with. Sure, they were in the same class... but between doing the assigned work and gazing out the window with an apathetic expression in the hopes of falling asleep, there was no room for social interaction. Regardless, it wasn't so much the girl herself that caused Rei to frown the instant he realized it was, in fact... her. But rather the likely confrontation that would follow their meeting, or at the very least the possibility of some kind of discussion relating to their previous escapades. Sure enough, the instant the girl opened her mouth, the already icy frown on the bluenette's face seemed to only intensify. If looks could kill, this specific expression would cause people to die of near Arctic temperatures. Placing a hand in his pocket and trying to act as calm as he could despite the embarrassment the Frenchwoman dropped on him, Rei began to speak in the usual stoic tone, "...My apologies, I've been extremely busy..." Then, he came to the realization that there was no need to simply dance around the point. Things were sure to get worse for him if the girl continued to make such statements. And it was a possibility, therefore... it was something that had to be outright prevented from occurring, instead of being a courageous fool and taking a chance. "May we discuss this elsewhere? Perhaps you'd like to go for a walk?" |

Claire smiled as she saw him. it was a charming smile and fro this appearance she had her own kind of beauty and grace that just about anyone had to admit. her small but warm smile was the kind that would make one feel guilty about being unkind to her. Deflecting the ice he sent at her she gave a warm smile. "I see, my schedule has been pretty full myself, perhaps we should take some time to... relax together?" she said with some slightly suggestive undertones. She then responded t his suggestion. "A walk? i suppose we could do with some fresh air, follow me then." she said as she led the way towards the exit to the courtyard. again she didn't really give him time to get a word in as they walked away you could hear some students whispering to each other. "Wait did rei bag himself that french girl?" Let the rumors begin. |

Despite the smile on the girl's face, something that was rather... er, charming... Rei pretended not to notice it or whatever odd, almost empty feeling it seemed to generate within him. Something a normal person would've called "guilt" but he simply referred to as something annoying. After all, to have guilt you had to have some semblance of remorse, right? And as cruel as it sounded, he had none for the girl... Maybe Takeda was taking his negative feelings a bit too far... but regardless, they were there and therefore, could not be avoided. To the notion of the two of them "relaxing together" (once again) the bluenette simply shook his head and shot the girl a sort of glare that perfectly spelled out his emotions better than any attempt could have possibly hoped to. What feelings, exactly? Well, that was quite simple, the expression on Takeda's face said "Never again." Regardless, to the girl's acceptance, he merely nodded. Not to pleased with the fact that she insisted on leading the way, it seemed as though it was simply a fact he could not change and therefore, Rei accepted it with quite a bit of reluctance. After all, it wasn't as though something so small would hurt his pride THAT much, no matter who the person was that was leading the way. However, seconds later he heard a single, faint voice from one of the students that had been watching. Noticing his fears becoming a bit of a reality, the bluenette simply turned momentarily, shot them an icy grin as if to say "y'know, it's not nice to spread rumours" and then turned back to follow Claire. |

She tilted her head in confusion. even so she still maintained her elegance as he seemed to have... hostility? as they stepped outside and away from prying eyes she turned to them her face showing clear signs of confusion. "Why do i detect such hostility from you..? she asked confused as to it. "Normally people are happy to see me again, did i do something to upset you mr takeda?" she said with grace. clearly she was trying to get to the bottom of the matter. "As far as i could tell you were consenting, why did something displeasure you about our encounter? I understand if you no longer wish to associate with me but you must have a reason." she surmised as she looked up to the clear now autumnal sky. Turning to him her soft green eyes met his asking for a reason for his hostility. |

Upon reaching the courtyard, the bluenette allowed his cold nature to thaw slightly now that the possibility of dealing with imbecilic peers had been taken away. Sighing, he adjusted his glasses and moved to speak as the blonde touched upon his hostility, though he did not get the chance, for he was soon interrupted. To the question of whether or not she did something to upset him, Rei simply shook his head, quickly reverting to stoicism and making eye contact. No, he held no hostility to the girl herself, merely the irresponsible actions he'd taken. Unfortunately, the girl herself was a sad reminder he'd taken such actions, and therefore she too, was met with some negative emotions. Placing a hand in his pocket and taking in the girl's next question, the bluenette began to compile his thoughts. Was there a way to say it delicately, or would it be wise to rely on sheer eloquence to soften the metaphorical blow such words could cause? Soon settling on the latter, Rei began to speak in a calm tone. "Nothing about the encounter displeased me. You, yourself are a very lovely woman but... Frankly, the fact that I would perform such actions... Well, I feel irresponsible, almost shameful. Admittedly, my mother isn't the most.... normal Japanese woman, but at the very least I know about that one value called chastity. Hm, may I ask you a question? This has honestly been bothering me since we met..." Rei paused for a moment, though he made it clear by his tone of voice that he was NOT asking to ask a question, and that he expected a serious answer in some form. Sighing, he adjusted his glasses and continue, hopeful that the direct approaching would provide interesting information even though it took away the fun of analysis. "Why? Specifically, why perform such actions and.... why perform such actions with me, exactly?" |

Claire listened. chastity was itself a foreign concept to her, she didn't really concern herself with such things. If it felt good she did it, that was her MO. However she made sure to respect herself and to some extent those she spent time with. for her this wasn't a big deal. However she never considered the idea that it might bother others. She was most confused by this, why would someone else regret the pleasure she brought them? He thne asked her why. "why? well why i did such actions. a better answer is why not, we were safe with it, and i was careful i dont see why i should shy away from doing it. Im not religious, nor do i care for antiquated gender roles. For me, well it feels good and isn't unsafe so i do it." She smiled a bit as she continued. "As for you, well you were charming, handsome and seemed somewhat eager, i thought it would make you happy too so i thought why not. It was a win-win yes?" she said cocking her head. she didnt really care for the usual boring and droll set up. She never met a man worthy of compete devotion. "I now ask you, what is it that you are insecure about here, you seem so bothered but i think you're focusing too much on what other people might say." she said that as she sat down on a bench, "Of course if you wish to sever ties i understand too. I would like the reason but i suppose i don't -need- to know." she said this matter of factly. |

In the few seconds prior to the girl's answer, seconds that passed by as if each was an eternity, Rei calmly glanced to the sky, which had become a faint grey and seemed almost alive with colour due to the bits of leaves that blew along in the wind. Naturally, one such as him could not help but be reminded of something from a book, in this case, the quote "First the colours, then the humans. That's how I see things, or at least how I try." Surely, such a melancholic reference did not apply to the situation, but it was still the first thing that came to mind in those few seconds as he glanced up at the overcast sky. Returning his eyes to their original position, the bluenette took in the girl's answer. And clearly, he was not impressed. But why was that? Someone like Rei, someone that had never really experienced friends before up until moving to America and someone who had trouble with empathy should've had no problems with such an answer, an answer portraying hedonism and a general apathy towards things like values and roles. Well, the truth was... Rei Takeda was a HUGE "self-loathing hypocrite". Sighing, he returned to his stoicism, simultaneously preparing to say the words "so, you're a hedonist then?" However, he did not get the chance, for the girl was quick to answer his second question. The genuine nature of such flattery produced a smile, at the very least. Sighing, Rei adjusted his glasses and continued with his response, "Hm, you satisfied yourself and you kept me interested. So I suppose the answer to that is yes..." Then, to the real question she proposed soon after. Obviously, this was one of the rare occurrences in which the whole truth would certainly come in handy in comparison to a half truth or a lie, but the truth was simply embarrassing. After all, being self-conscious was almost like a means of self preservation for Rei, if he didn't have friends, people to understand him, or at the very least people to interest him... then what was the point? If life was like that, it would be just like Osaka. "I do not wish to sever ties, as contradictory as that may sound to how I was treating you literally seconds ago..." He began his response in a somewhat apologetic tone, finally feeling a bit of supposedly needless pity due to that. However, he soon forced his expression to transform into something more neutral as he continued his answer, "Though, I am insecure about this because... I do not want people to spread rumours. There are people I care about and perhaps I'm afraid those people will not associate with me again after hearing that I contradicted my usual self in such a manner..." Or perhaps I'm just annoyed that someone finally beat me at something... Naturally, the speech portion of that was said with quite a bit of reluctance and perhaps a bit of self-hatred about it as well. Namely because he had opted to tell part of the truth, and even that, despite being less embarrassing than admitting the fact that his pride was wounded due to his "loss", it was still fairly difficult to admit. "So then if this is the case shall we lay out ground rules for our future association then? if you desire i will not request a rendezvous from you again. no problems there and you seem to not want knowledge of our association to spread i can handle that. How do you want our association to continue mr takeda?" she asked as if not really sure how to appropriately respond to this situation. Even unsure she still maintained her aristocratic grace. Brushing her bangs aside she smiled. "Regardless... Mr Takeda, i can tell you that i do not think any less of you though, so please contact me in the future." she added with a small smile. "I do enjoy the pleasure of your company as well after all." |

To the girl's statement about laying out ground rules for future encounters, the bluenette simply nodded in agreement. If they were to continue associating with one another, such a thing would be necessary... if a little annoying due to how difficult it would be before they came to a proper agreement. However, the suggestions put forth by the girl seemed to entirely contradict Rei's fears, though there was a question asked and it simply prompted a pensive expression to form in place of the male's original stoicism. Hm, what would be the best course of action given the situation? Judging by how long it was taking him to formulate a proper response, it would be clear he was weighing his options entirely, instead of rushing into a decision only to make a bad move in the future. In short: coming to these conclusions was kind of like playing chess. Everything had to be taken into consideration, not just the positive effects but the negatives, not only the immediate effects but the long-term as well. It was only then, upon coming to a conclusion that Rei realized something that frankly, caused him to facepalm. No, not a "mental facepalm" as he was so accustomed to, but something so admittedly foolish that he actually did it. There he was, talking about responsibility and how shameful it felt mere moments earlier, shame born of "chastity" and the possibility of people finding out about such actions being taken. But the responsible thing, and the thing that best coincided with the notion of chastity would be to at the very least take the girl out on a proper date, even if such a date ended in another... "encounter", and why shouldn't it? It wasn't as though people would know about such a thing in the first place. "....I'm incompetent..." He soon muttered, running his fingers through his hair idly in order to find the words, only to take in Claire's next statement. One regarding how... she really did value his company, which felt a little strange but still genuine, just as the flattery had moments earlier. With a faint sigh, and then an adjustment of his uniform, which admittedly felt rather tight due to his being accustomed to long clothing, Rei began to speak, "How should we proceed? I suppose I'd like to propose a deal, something beneficial to the both of us..." He paused for a moment, only to let a single thought flow through his mind, something regarding pride that was soon forgotten literally seconds later as he continued, still grasping onto his words as though they would suddenly fly away like a flock of frightened birds, "Firstly, our... endeavours, both previous and any possible future ones... will go unknown to our peers, secondly... I am perfectly fine with more encounters after having weighed my options, but only under two conditions. I would prefer it if we did something before hand, I suppose some people call such things.. 'dates' or something similar... As for my second condition, if either of us wishes to terminate this agreement for any reason, we can. No questions asked by the other individual. Do you agree to this?" Naturally, Rei's decision had been made not just based on his earlier realization, but also in the hopes of taking back the pride stolen from him. After that, well... it would keep things interesting until someone more interesting came along. And of course, interesting had many, many meanings in the bluenette's dictionary. |

"i see." she replied as he made his offer. to claire it was acceptable. "it appears we have reached an accord then. I would also like to be clear that i have no plans for exclusivity, if you have an issue with this then please say so now." She said as she locked eyes with him, telling him to not hold back. "I do not hve the time or patience to deal with those who cannot stomach a simple agreement." she said showing a harsher side for the first time. She had a very tak charge attitude and it was obvious here. "So then what did you have in mind or do you want me to leave the details to you?" she asked with a wink as she stood back up. The wind kicked up blowing her hair slightly as she gave him a charming smile. "Are we ok then, and can i consider you a... friend?" she asked as if a little hesitant. This wasn't something she was used to. |

The girl's acceptance was met with a simple smile, one that soon faded as the statement regarding exclusivity was brought up. Honestly, it wasn't that the bluenette cared about the lack of a proper relationship, but rather the fact that the girl even had to mention such a thing. Regardless, the bluenette adjusted his glasses and took in Claire's next words with something akin to apathy, though that was simply there to mask his general interest at how harsh she'd become in a matter of seconds. "Such an assumption would've been incompetent of me. I could care less about whether or not we're exclusive to one another... in fact, that is why I said this can be terminated at any time... because I might just end up finding a more suitable and... possibly serious partner. Of course, that is also why this is to be kept a secret." Sighing, Rei adjusted his glasses and took in the blonde's next question. What did he have in mind? Well, that was certainly a difficult question, because to him it really didn't matter when and where their next encounter took place, or how long said encounter spanned so long as it still fell within the reaches of the previous agreement. He moved to speak, though once more he was silenced... Silenced by a question he'd only heard once before. See, while Rei had many a person he could call a "friend", as well as a few interesting acquaintances, it was very rare that such people ever outright asked him to be their friend. In fact, the last (and only) person to ask him such a thing was socially inept and seemingly beyond any sort of repair. So why did Claire ask, and with such hesitation about her? That was one of those things that the bluenette simply couldn't wave away as if it didn't matter. However, there was no way to properly analyze such a thing either. It would come up with too many different possibilities, and he knew so little about the girl already beyond the hedonism and the minor details from their last encounter. Sighing, Rei adjusted his glasses and spoke, deciding to wait for the girl to reveal it herself... or at the very least for more info to pop up, "...You may call me a friend, yes. Additionally, I suppose we could have dinner some time? I'm not quite certain how 'dating' works." Edited by Cipher, Jul 14 2013, 02:03 AM.

Claire smiled. Having conversation with this man was like playing chess. It was fun to play with him via wordplay and interesting to see hsi reactions. Yes she rather liked This man, although not too seriously. "yes well fo course, although i feel it amy be prudent to let each other know about such situations. We dont want something silly like jealousy to crop up unbeknownst to even ourselves." yes she had read enough romance novels to know that little tidbit. She then smiled at the dinner idea. "Dinner hmm? i suppose, would you like me to decide or do you know of a place?" she asked curious. Of course she could probably take him to fancy places he had never seen she was curious as to what he would do when put on the spot. her treat or his, it didnt really matter to her |

The girl's next statement produced something of a smirk, if only because Rei had to force himself to refrain from laughing at the notion of jealousy popping up somewhere down the line. Naturally, this was only because the notion of such situations was the stuff of cheap romance novels, and beyond that... even if such situations were present in reality, for him to feel jealousy there would first have to be love. And while there most certainly was some sort of twisted affection, there was no "love." After all, the extent of the love he felt began and ended with parental love... and even that had been a foreign feeling for him until just a few years prior to the present. Regardless, the bluenette adjusted his glasses and spoke, "Hm, I doubt I'll be jealous of anyone. I'm afraid that I do not think I am the type to feel such an emotion..." Of course, that was where the "unbeknownst to even ourselves" part of Claire's statement kicked in. After all, even though there were a few emotions that Rei himself had felt before, he was entirely unable to identify them even with his cognitive empathy skills. Which was rather troublesome, considering how easy it was to recognize the emotions of others, and sometimes even why they felt such emotions. However, he could not analyze himself. That was simply a fact. Regardless, he adjusted his coat and was quick to change his thought process. If only because of the Frenchwoman's response to the dinner idea. Running his fingers idly through his hair, the student proceeded to weigh his options. Would it be easier to let her decide? Of course, but that simply took away from the fun of being in such a pseudo-relationship. Then, the other options. Naturally they should've been obvious, and neither of them seemed like a very good idea. Firstly, taking her to a restaurant was not a wise idea, if only because he did not know many restaurants around the city despite his many walks and many meals. Or rather, he didn't know any restaurants that seemed to be decent enough to take such a woman to. Secondly, there was the much more personal option, with its own merits and faults: inviting the girl into his own home. No, that would be foolish. After all, it wasn't as though Rei was the type to cook... and delivery, while much easier than cooking, suffered from the same problem that the other option did: very few "decent" restaurants delivered. And those that did... well, the food would likely be cold or somehow less-than-desirable upon arrival due to the distance between such places and his own home. Finally, an idea came to his head. Due to the idea that many problems could be solved with money, why not do something entirely different (and against his family's own "no servants" policy)? It was simple, hire a chef and have him/her cook an expensive and interesting meal! "I'll pay, though I have a much better idea..." It was at that point that the bluenette reached into his coat pocket, and produced a small notebook. With a small sigh, he produced a pen and scribbled something on the page: contact information and an address. Admittedly, such an action felt somewhat embarrassing, inviting a woman into his own home.... but such actions were unfamiliar territory. And unfamiliar territory, while usually a cause for disaster, could be fairly interesting if planned for in the right way. Regardless, Rei was quick to tear that page from the notebook, and offer it to the girl, simultaneously explaining: "Come to this address this evening, please." As the bluenette came to the end of that statement, he muttered something under his breath just loud enough for the blonde girl to hear, "...I've never done this sort of thing before... so I hope you enjoy it..." Then, coming to the realization that such a thought had slipped out, Rei's stoicism saw a few more visible cracks form. This time in the sense that, while before he'd been relatively composed, now he held a bit of a blush on his face due to having said such an imbecilic (and kind of cliched) thing. "I... uhm... I believe I should go to class now, I'd rather get there early so that I can read or enjoy some peace and quiet... I suppose I shall see you later, then?" With that, the bluenette turned and walked away. Simultaneously, he began to mentally berate himself for having said such a thing, which in turn seemed to quell the embarrassment a little bit and allowed him to recompose much faster than the standard amount of time (which was rather impressive by itself.) (Exeunt, Social Link Go!) |
