With a firm grip, Lian closed the door quietly behind them. As soon as she let go of the handle, her fingers started shaking a little though, something she had suppressed all the time they had spent in the Office. The girl slowly turned around to her companion, face glowing with the effort to keep her happiness contained under a polite smile. Then she burst out into a beaming smile, pinched her eyes together and made a victory pose. "YES!" Between her fingers, a small silver key dangled down and glittered like the key to a fairy garden. And thats how it felt to the dreamer, like the start of a great fairytale, their own personal sanctuary from the world around them that didn´t understand them. "I didn´t think it would go so well! We have the Occult-club, Shiro-shi! We did it!" The girl twirled around on one foot, then clasped her hands together and calmed down a little. She hadn´t felt so great in some time. They had spent half an hour detailing their plans and the organization for their Occult club, affirming more than once that they wouldn´t do something harmful to members or other students, denied the possibility to summon the devil and pleaded. Well, Lian had done most of the talking. It had cost her quite the courage to stand up for her wish, but this was her forte, it was her life mostly. To have a place for that, outside of her own room, to possibly share it with others, to definitely share it with Ai, with whom she felt a faint bond of friendship - that was worth overcoming her fears! The girl sighed a little and then smiled at the other Freshman. "Let´s go and take a look at the room we´ve been assigned!" |

Ai tilted her head at the girl, surely if this was an anime then above Ai's expressionless gaze a large question mark would have appeared briefly to denote the girl's confusion. Ai wasn't familiar with why Lian would be so excited over such a thing as the solitude of a room, perhaps it was something she did not have on a normal day to day basis? For Ai, who spent most of her time alone anyway, this was nothing worth getting so worked up over. Though, admittedly, something caused her heart to pound excitedly in her chest, perhaps Lian's emotions were contagious. Either way, this was something worthy of note, as the two were now the new co-founders of the school's first Occult Club. It made Ai happy on the inside, to know that this girl, Lian had a desire to spend time with Ai. This was the first time in her life that someone desired her presence, aside from her grandmother, and it felt good. Friendship was something to be treasured for sure, she could tell, and it would be her mission to make sure that Lian felt wanted as well. This was definitely the first step in that process and hopefully Ai would learn to master the role of "friend" to the girl. She nodded to Lian after a very brief moment of thought and gave her a smile, something that didn't normally cross her cold expressionless face. She looked at the key briefly, the numbers glittered in the light but thankfully were not strong enough to hinder Ai's vision. It took a while to do but, with Lian doing most of the talking, they were able to convince the staff to grant them a room for the club. Walking to the room, Ai and Lian were stopped by a sudden noise from behind. From out of the offices stepped none other than Ravencroft's Head Nurse, the woman known as Anita Romano. She closed the door behind her and quickly caught up with the pair, smiling and waving on her way to them. After giving a small greeting, she informed the pair that she had volunteered as the chairman of the club, since all clubs require supervision to some degree. She admitted she had an interest in the club the moment she heard Lian talking in the office, but once she explained all that she nodded to them once more and excused herself to return to her medical duties.Ai looked at Lian and then back to the path ahead of them, both literally and figuratively. This was the first step down the path of the occult together, and they were going to travel far as a team, but how far would they go as only a pair? Certainly there were more students they could get interested in the club, but how? Ai hadn't managed to run into that other girl lately, and Lian was the only person she talked to at school. What would be the best course of action? Perhaps this would be the first topic of discussion she would bring up with Lian, but first she agreed with Lian's statement, they should take a look at the room they had been assigned. |

When the Headnurse had left the two girls alone again, Lian bowed slightly in farewell before turning to her companion. With a silent nod, they resumed their journey to their assigned Room. It was a quiet walk, but Lian didn´t mind. She enjoyed the atmosphere of having the other girl next to her, and she knew Ai wasn´t the chatty type. That was alright, it felt nice not having to put on her cheery facade for once. With light steps they finally reached it. It was in a small corner of a hallway on the first floor, not very noticeable. Lian swatted away the thought that it might not be good for their club to be in such a dark corner, out of peoples sight. "Look, its Room 22! What a great omen!", she pointed out to Ai. Carefully, she looked at the other and tried to remember if she knew something about Tarot or not, before simply explaining. "The Fool Arcanum in Tarot can be both seen as the first, or the last card, number 0 or 22. Endless possibilities, or in this case: Every possibility." Hmm, she could go on and on, but she was getting a little self-conscious, even around Ai. So, with a brisk movement, she put the key into the lock and turned it. Her joyful eyes dulled the moment she stepped inside. Dust swirled up and made her sneeze. "That´s... They don´t mean this, right..." The room was dark, closed shutters only let a few beacons of light in where they were broken, and when Lian switched on the light - well there was no light. What they could see in the dusky atmosphere was broken chairs and tables stacked, as if the room had been used as a storage. The petite girl felt disappointment weigh down her shoulders. Was this done on purpose? Had they only been given the club so readily to mock them? Her lips formed a thin line as she looked at the magnitude of ruin they had been given. "...It seems Zero fits this room much better..." Tears welled up and Lian sniffled a little at the feeling of being betrayed. --- I leave some more disastrous descriptions of the room to you if you have any ideas

Lian seemed distraught, something about the room made her upset. Ai wasn't sure exactly what, but the room was definitely in disarray. Perhaps it was being used as a form of storage, either way, Ai didn't see much wrong with it. It was dark, secluded and no one else was around. To her it was more than she could ask for. However, the feeling that Lian was unhappy with what they received made Ai unhappy as well, though she didn't express it outwardly. She stepped into the room, "I do not mind it. It is just another step in the journey, yes?" She looked about the room, the chairs, the desks, they were all broken, or otherwise unusable. This wasn't even safe was it? To give such a room to the students, what if someone got hurt? She looked back to Lian from inside the room, dust clinging to her hair like little white snowflakes. She sneezed quietly, it looked like even the windows latches were broken. This room, what happened here, did some sort of science experiment go wrong? She tilted her head at Lian, noticing her tears welling up, "Did you get dust in your eye?" She played dumb. She walked back over to Lian, she wasn't sure exactly what they should do, certainly there was no way the two petite girls were going to clean this entire room from top to bottom and get all the broken clutter out. They needed help, but who? She sighed, thinking to herself, she didn't have anyone to ask for help, but there was always the staff, perhaps they should talk to Romano-sensei? She could request assistance from the janitor? No, asking for help on the first day would be a sign of weakness, wouldn't it, that they were incapable of handling their own business? She reached into her pocket and pulled out her trusty evil warding doll. She held it out to Lian, showing it to her, "There is nothing we can not overcome, we've come this far." She hoped her encouragement would bring about an idea, but what? |

The even, soft voice of the other girl made Lian hesitantly look up. For a moment, she had forgotten that there was someone else here. Someone who tried to cheer her up. The look she was met with was hard to read, but Lian had already noticed that the blank expression Ai often wore was not a sign of disinterest. The clumsy gesture of the small, black doll, used to show Ais support for the club, was endearing, it made Lian smile and wipe her tears. "I´m sorry... you´re right. We should... take this as a challenge!" The dust, the broken things, it was nothing they couldn´t change, right? "Did Hercules give up when the heads of the Hydra regenerated? Did Tyr back away from luring Fenrir with his own hand as a sacrifice?" A spark returned to her eyes and her posture straightened as she gathered confidence from her own little speech. They would not back down, would not give up! This was too important to her. Too big. If the teachers wanted to mock them, they would show them what they´re made of! Lian nodded firmly at Ai. This was the time for action, and not for lamentation. So she let her bag slip down to the floor and made a few steps inside the dim room, spun around on her heels once and took in all the damage they´d have to fix. Her resolve strengthened as she began to make a mental plan. Planning how to tackle a problem usually made the problem itself much less intimidating. And suddenly she found herself eager to start solving this particular one - together with Ai. "Let´s start with cleaning out the rubble!", she exclaimed, followed by a violent cough. The dust really was horrible in here... Lian opened the door wide and put her bag in front of it to keep it like that, then ventured inside again to open the windows. Carefully, she stepped on one of the broken chairs, then on one of the tables, until she was finally within reach. Rattle, rattle. It wouldn´t budge. An annoyed huff escaped her and she puffed her cheeks. The girl took a deep breath, concentrated all of her energy into this single thing and then yanked violently at the handle. With a loud crack, the window sprung open, Lian yelped, the excess force threw her backwards and sent her crashing into the chairs. The noise as the wood tumbled, crashed, shattered to the ground and over each other exploded out into the hallway, where it echoed on. "Ow....", a small voice came from the pile of rubble. After a few seconds of silence, Lian miserably pulled herself up and blinked. Her arms and back hurt, but it was nothing bad. A sudden, cool breeze made her look up and a big smile spread on her face. "There! Operation:Fresh Air successful!" she laughed and clapped her hands together before climbing out of her pile. The girl looked down at herself, covered in white-grey dust, wooden splinters on her skirt, blueish bruises forming on her arms, her black hair in disarray. Slowly, she raised her head straight towards Ai, a glint of mirth in her eyes - and she burst out laughing. This situation was hilarious! It was just so abnormal! Lian hadn´t felt so carefree in a long time. She was dirty and broken, just like the room itself, but for some reason it was alright. It was fun even! "Come on, it´s not fair if I´m the only one dirty!", she couldn´t help it and laughed even more. |

Ai ran over to Lian after the small accident, helping her up as the two girls grinned liked fools. Fools. The Fool is the symbol of the beginning of a journey, perhaps this really was just like the beginning to them, at first they approached this foolishly, the two alone wouldn't be able to take care of everything. It was time to take a step forward, to approach the next step in the journey. Magician. Magician symbolizes resources and the desire or necessity to transform something. It was time to seek their Magician. She helped Lian out of the rubble as she spoke up "There! Operation: Fresh Air successful!" Ai giggled at the girl's silliness. Good, things felt natural again. Ai spun around looking at the room, there was quite a huge mess to deal with here, lots of broken things to throw out, none of it looked usable. They were going to need to replace almost everything. Even the whiteboards looks faded, warped and useless. But this could be seen as an opportunity to change the destiny of this room. She thought up some ideas. If they could bring some bookshelves in here, they could start their own little library. A couple of large tables, a cork board for notices, white boards for sharing ideas and writing up theories on. They were going to need a lot for this, but where were they going to get all of it? Ai certainly didn't mind lending the books she owned to the club for the library, but the library would never come to be if they didn't have somewhere to put the books. She looked back to Lian after a brief gaze around the room, she was covered in dust, it made her look silly, covered in grey colored flecks. Ai noticed the girl laughing, she couldn't help but giggled herself, a small smile breaking out across her otherwise emotionless stare. Then Lian encouraged her to help, yes, this was their journey together, and as such Ai went over to the pile of chairs in the corner and started wheeling them away from the wall, much to her dismay, the dust from all over the chairs fell to the ground, like when you shake a tree covered in snow. Her pitch black hair was now streaked with white and her face was covered in the stuff, though you could barely tell, it was almost like her skin was actually a brighter shade of white than the dust! The girl coughed a bit but kept moving the chairs, letting the dust fall all over the path as she did. After her mouth was cleared of the dust she laughed more audibly and pulled the chairs to the doorway. She looked back to Lian, "Maybe we should inquire where to take all this damaged stuff." After all, disposing of it meant nothing to them, but the school might have policy or other such stuff about what to do with it. They had left it here all this time, certainly there was a reason. She thought to herself, maybe going to speak with the Nurse was a good idea, she could ask her to clear up the confusion for them while they got to work. This seemed like a solid plan, a plan which she then shared with Lian, "We should ask the Nurse, Romano-sensei, where to put these things." Lian was her co-founder, so she trusted her judgment as well, the two of them were already on their path to Magician. The Fool's journey was only just beginning. |

It was amazing seeing Ai laugh like that. It made the usually glum girl really pretty in a strange way. Lian felt energy and enthusiasm fill her and she helped her friend push the chairs out into the hall. But there... she hesitated. Just when she was about to voice her own question of - where do we bring them? Ai answered her silent confusion. Frowning a little, she finally nodded. Miss Romano was their best option now. The kind nurse would be surprised seeing the girls just a few minutes after they had met! Hopefully she knew a place where to bring them. "Yes, that is a good idea. Would you be so kind?" The question kind of came awkwardly from her lips, it felt like she was making the other girl do something annoying... "I-I mean, I want to go and fetch a broom and other equipment we might need. We can split the work." She tried a small smile. This was just the cleaning part, and she was sure they wouldn´t finish everything today, but she at least wanted to see the room in its full entirety before leaving for home this day! Besides... it was still early afternoon, so they had plenty of time. |

Ai nodded to Lian. "I will seek her out." Ai turned and stepped into the hallway, walking back towards the school's office. She left Lian to take care of the brooms and other equipment. As she walked, she thought about what was going on, Ai wasn't good at expressing herself, maybe this wasn't a good idea... After walking for a few minutes she arrived, uncomfortably standing in front of the door to the office, unsure what to do. Knock, enter, wait... She opted to knock, that seemed the most natural for the western world. After a few moments she was greeted by a faculty member, and after several attempts to explain what it was she wanted unsuccessfully, she was brought inside the offices. Sitting down, she attempted one more time. "We are trying to clean out Room 22, our club has been assigned there and we are uncertain what to do with the things inside the room." Once again the faculty member was uncertain what this girl was talking about. "The stuff inside the room? Like the classroom equipment?" they responded. "Yes, it is all broken." "Was it like that when you got there?" "Yes." "Who assigned you that room?" "I am uncertain, I did not speak with them myself." "Ugh.. okay, who's your club director?" "Director?" "Yes, the faculty member in charge of your club. Which club are you from, Miss Shiro?" "Romano-sensei. Occult." Finally the conversation achieved some sort of forward movement. The faculty member made his way into the back rooms of the offices and Ai waited patiently, sitting near the secretary's desk nervously. She felt like she was about to be scolded for some reason. Perhaps this wasn't the right decision. Several tense moments passed before the faculty member returned. "I can't find this Occult Club anywhere in the school's computers. What are you trying to pull?" Ai panicked internally, she was afraid now, uncertain what else to say, talking was Lian's job, not hers. She was not good with other people. "It's all right, she's not lying, the Occult Club formed today. I am indeed the chairman of the Club." A familiar voice saved Ai's panicked little heart as Miss Romano stepped in through the Office door. She waved a small little wave to Ai as she walked over to the man that had given Ai a hard time. Talking to him quietly under her breath she handed him a clipboard and he left to return to the rooms in the back. Romano turned to Ai afterwards and smiled, "Sorry, some of the staff here can be a bit strict, what seems to be the matter?" Ai wasn't sure where to begin, so she repeated her story. "We are trying to clean out Room 22, our club has been assigned there and we are uncertain what to do with the things inside the room." "What sort of things are in the room?" "A lot of broken classroom furniture." "About how much, sweetheart?" "It filled up about half the room." The two girls looked at each other, Ai's red eyes piercing deep through Miss Romano's. Romano turned away and called out a name, "Eddie, could you come with me a moment?" And shortly afterwards a rotund man with a large smile on his face came through a door. He nodded to Miss Romano, "Sure, whatcha need?" As Miss Romano started explaining, the trio left the office and started making their way back to Room 22. |

A sigh of relief on her lips, Lian nodded at Ai and then went off on her own as well. There was a skip in her step as she rounded the corners of the long hallways of the Ravencroft Highschool, where here and there still some pupils loitered about. It was a great feeling to actually be doing something! She didn´t even care for the weird stares she got this time. The girl headed straight to the Supplies room she knew from cleaning duties. It wasn´t far, but there would be a lot of stuff to move... Upon her arrival, she opened the door and looked inside quizzically. Brooms, dustpans, cloths, cleaning agents, polishes, all kinds of small bottles and stacked buckets were inside the rather spacy room. Well that was a great start! She would need about.. everything! "How am I going to move this...?" Lian asked herself quietly. Now that she was actually here, she didn´t really know where to start. Hesistantly she took one broom from its place and weighed it. There were about a dozen different sizes. Who needed so many tools for cleaning?! With a grim determination, Lian gripped the handle and started piling up what she wanted to take with her. After a few minutes filled with crashes, clanking, yelps and other exclamations, a small chinese girl came out of the supplies room, loaded with about anything. It was a very bizarre thing to look at, really! There was a pink, feathery dustpan sticking out here, a flourish of white cloths fluttering there, and a bucket dangled dangerously on the handle of a broom she was balancing on her shoulder. A look of pure concentration was on her face as she slowly, carefully closed the door behind her and made a small step towards Room 22, just a few hallways down this corridor... But the whole tower of things she held was swaying in a foreboding manner, and a few students around her began to chuckle and go around her in a big circle. Lian felt her face heat up and her confidence and concentration slipped. Meanwhile, their stuff and Room 22 lay bare until she or Ai returned! What had she been thinking? She bit her lip hard and tried to keep going, the horrible pressure increasing. She.. had... to hurry..! This probably wasn´t going to end well. |

(First post in forever, so please forgive me) Alicia walked the halls of the school, she forgot that she didn't have photography club this day of the week. Unwilling to head back to her dormitory quite yet, she roamed the halls somewhat aimlessly. The heels of her shoes clicked with each step rhythmically echoed in the hallway. The hall was empty, desolate even.Well, that was until she turned the corner. A young girl with a short, black bob was struggling with a plethora of cleaning supplies strung both in her arms and around her shoulders. A few people walked around her, avoiding the swaying mass of cleaning supplies that you only seem to see in cartoons. Alicia looked to her left, and then her right. The group has already passed on and were far out of sight. It was just her and the one girl now. She would have never done this if others were around, and even now she blushed slightly with embarrassment at the thought. But some how she mustered up the courage to approach the struggling girl. She walked towards her, feeling somewhat awkward doing so. She never approach people in such a fashion. But something kept her from merely standing by and watching. "Need any help there?" She said nervously in a very low tone, forgetting to even say hello. She was hoping she hadn't startled the girl. With the amount of brooms she was bearing, a quick turn could easily end with a black eye. |

A low voice startled Lian a little, she looked up and saw a timid looking girl. She was hard pressed to smile and say she was fine so as to not attract unwanted attention. But something in the girls eyes seemed to spell genuine concern and her movements were nervous as well - and Lians arms were starting to hurt already! Accepting her help would not be bad. Willing a smile on her face and her heart to calm down she replied cautiously. "I-if you don´t mind... Could you take this bucket and broom? Thank you!" Lian mentioned towards the items in question and sighed in relief when the girl took them. The load was still a little shaky, but already a lot better. Maybe it wasn´t such a good idea to always try to do everything on her own... How nice of this stranger to help her. But still she felt bad for pushing her responsibility on another... "I need to bring them to the room 22, we are cleaning it for our new club!", she exclaimed happily and started walking down the long and thankfully empty hall. It was not that far, and surely Ai would return soon too. Then they could really get started! |

As Ai and the two staff members returned to the room she overheard Lian's voice. It was coming from inside the hall, and Ai was curious what had happened. Did something go wrong and Lian had to leave the room? When they rounded the hall, she saw Lian walking back to the room with another girl, she had bright hair and looked friendly. Was Lian trying to get her to join the club? Certainly it would be nice to have another member. Ai stoicly stood at the doorway with the teachers who discussed exactly what they were going to do with the stuff in the room. Ai simply waited, unsure exactly how to get started. As the two approached the room she couldn't help but feel a little jealous, Ai didn't have many friends and she was worried about losing her only friend. But this was the reality of a social life, and Ai was struggling to comprehend it and understand it fully. She needed to just stay calm and maybe this new girl would feel comfortable enough around Ai to become her friend. It was worth a shot at least. "Ai, Eddie is going to go wheel the dumpster around to the window so we can throw away most of the broken things. Can you tell your friends to carefully gather up all the broken pieces of furniture and put them by the window there?" She pointed out which window it was with her finger, Ai took note. "I have to get back to work, Eddie will help you from here on all right? He'll be back in a few moments." "Yes, Sensei." Ai replied quietly, and with a small wave of her hand Miss Romano made her way back down the hall, returning from whence she came. Ai waited patiently at the door to deliver the instructions to the returning girls, and when they finally had made it. Ai pointed out the window and said "They're bringing a dumpster to this window, we can throw out the broken things there." After saying that, she waited for Lian and this new girl's responses and possible introductions. |

Alicia smiled, slightly more content in knowing that her offer was taken positively. She hesitantly reached for the items, one wrong move and the plethora of sanitation products collapses to the floor, with the young girl in the middle of it all. She reached in and grabbed the broom, sliding it out as slowly and steadily as she could muster. Luckily without a tragic accident. Thankfully, the bucket was less of a struggle, for it was hanging off of the aforementioned broom, swinging precariously prior to it's removal. She only smiled somewhat bashfully in response to the thanks that the girl had extended towards her. She followed behind the girl, watching the items of which she carried, knowing that the girl was still carrying far more than she. "I need to bring them to the room 22, we are cleaning it for our new club!" the girl said with an unmatched exuberance, one that she could never muster. But she couldn't help but admit to herself that her attitude was slightly contagious, for she could feel a smile forming across her lips in response. "What kind of club are you starting?" Her voice was far more comfortable know, but still bordering on a range that bordered on inaudible. But the silence was overpowering, she felt afraid to speak up further. They entered the room. Alicia was taken aback. She felt as if she had entered another dimension. She had never known that dirt could pile up in such a way. She had never considered why so many cleaning supplies were collected, but now she was starting to get the picture. As to why the school would ignore such a room was beyond her. She couldn't help but wonder why. What motivated the faculty to just ignore this room? Had something happened here, or did the janitors simply ignore this room knowing that no one would check? But her deep pondering was broken when another girl had walked in. A small girl with long black hair, and deep red eyes. Her pallid completion seemed to almost illuminate in the light. Alicia looked at the girl who was both ghastly, yet beautiful in her own way. "They're bringing a dumpster to this window, we can throw out the broken things there." She said, pointing out towards the window. Alicia's eyes followed the reach of the girl towards the window. Looking out for a moment through the clouded window that let in far less light than it should. Alicia felt a bit of silence, and expectancy to fall upon her. She had not introduced herself to either of the girls. She felt somewhat embarrassed for forgetting such a thing, and she felt heat rise up in her ears, knowing that she was blushing. "I'm Alicia." she said quickly, quietly, and awkwardly as she took a sideways glance out of nervousness; hoping that the spirited girl who carried the cleaning supplies would help lighten the mood oncemore. |

With a sigh, Lian put down the items on the table an stretched carefully, before turning to the other girls again. She smiled and answered them. "Thank you for the help Alicia! We just opened the..." at that point she hesitated. This was a great opportunity to possibly spread the word about the club, but at the same time, she felt her inhibitions and fears resurface. What would she think of this? Surely, it was a childish idea. In fact, when creating the club, Lian had never really thought about getting other members, it had been sort of a thing for her and Ai, but now... Her eyes found Ai´s in search for help, and some of her tension lifted. Ai looked a little lost to her, yet just seeing her gave her strength. Quickly, she stepped over to her side and stood close to her, pushed her chin forward to stoicly take any kind of criticism from the new girl, and answered with a strong voice, that just betrayed how insecure she felt: "My name is Lian and this is Ai. We have just opened the Occult Club, dedicated to studies of mysteries, legends and magic! And this will be our Club room! " |

Ai blushed a bit at Lian's rather astonishing introductions. It was impressive to see her so full of life and spirit, she was definitely the better half of this pair. Ai looked at the new girl, she had introduced herself as Alicia. Ai bowed in humility before the girl, greeting her and hoping to encourage the girl to continue to carry on conversation, she wanted to learn more about her. Ai tried her best to speak up regarding the topic, "I am not very good with people. You are welcome to stay as long as you'd like." She honestly didn't know what to do in this situation, she was still learning how to deal with the prospect of forming friendships, not everyone was as lighthearted and high spirited as Lian was. Hopefully she hadn't given off a poor impression to this girl, Alicia. Turning to Lian a moment, she mouthed the words, "Thank you." Once she had done this she walked over to the window and began to evaluate the situation. In the distance she could see the janitor wheeling the large dumpster bin over to them, it would take him a few more minutes but they could get started soon, she shared this in light of the unfolding situation, "He is not far off. We can start soon." She was uncertain if Alicia was here to join or not, she seemed uninformed of the situation herself, so Ai was tempted to try sharing something with her in hopes of egging her into joining them. "Do you like things like ghosts and fortune telling, Alicia?" Ai was drawing a blank, a valid question, but a blunt and abrupt manner of approaching it. Well done, Ai, you certainly captured the fancy of this girl's interests. Congratulations. She perhaps was being hard on herself, but the feeling was not exactly light. She wanted to do more than just stand around, she wanted to express her desire to expand the ranks and knowledge of the occult. This was the first real opportunity she had to do this, she needed to take advantage of that. So it goes, she let the girl answer, for in mere moments it might be possible that the girls would be to busy cleaning to truly discuss such things. |
