The silent voice within one's heart whispers the most profound wisdom.

Alicia shuffled the deck without looking. She didn't count for how long she had shuffled the deck, but rather until the deck felt right to her. She did not bend the cards, she simply let them simply drop back into the deck. These cards were antiques, given to her by a woman who was more like her mother than her very own. Alicia paused for a moment, took a deep breath, the deck was ready. She slid the first card off of the deck, placing it on the space she had cleared upon the table. ![]() "The Knight of Wands, representing the most'fiery' part of fire. It symbolizes movement, excitement, passion, and intensity. This typically represents a person. It's a contagious state of being. The upright position symbolizes the warming and exiting aspects of fire, rather than the scorching aspect of it" She took a moment contemplating who the card could be referring to. She suspected Andy, after seeing some of his bursts of excitement and enthusiasm. She exposed the second card, placing it to the right of the first card. ![]() "The hanged man, in the reversed position." she said trying to determine the best way to explain this to him."This card has two parts. Firstly, in the near future you will feel bound, or even tied up, in responsibility. But this card also doubles as a warning. Listen to the voice within you for the upcoming struggles ahead." She grabbed the next card, knowing that it'll explain more and grant them both more insight. ![]() "Death, in the upright position. And no, this has nothing to do with dying," She said already giving little speech she has grown accustomed to. "It's a symbol of change, metamorphosis, and rebirth. In your case; I would say that if you head the warning of the hanged man, and listen to your inner voice, you will come out as another person if and only if you can let go of what is holding you back." She took a deep breath, looking at the cards one more time, trying to determine if she had missed something. It didn't seem so to her, she felt as if she had done a good job. She waited for Andy's retort; His yay or nay to the whole tarot ordeal. Edited by OracleOfMaia, Feb 6 2014, 07:53 AM.

Being interested in cards and the like himself Andy kept a close eye on Alicia as she shuffled her own deck cards and the manner in which she shuffled betrayed experience with shuffling cards as she didn't bend them accidentally nor even took a look at them, which Andy knew from experience meant that you had enough practice to shuffle blindfolded without bending them. Anyway, Andy sat quietly and watched as Alicia drew the first card from the deck which just so happened to be the Knight of Wands in the upright position, not that Andy really knew what it represented but how he knew the correct terminology "upright" was due to the fact that Alicia had told him and oh, if you're wondering how Andy knew the name of the card it was kind of obvious due to the fact it was printed on there. When Andy listened to Alicia's explanation of the card he instantly knew what it was referring to, after all it was just so obvious that it referred to Andy but personally, Andy didn't feel like fire suited him as it seemed a lot more dangerous and destructive than Andy saw himself, that said there was a difference between what Andy thought and the facts of the matter. The next card however disturbed Andy a little as he didn't like how it looked nor it's name but, when Alicia explained what it represented Andy didn't really know how to respond to it, after all he wasn't exactly one for taking responsibility for his actions and what about this whole inner voice thing? To Andy it seemed like Alicia was talking about that gut instinct or things like that but well, based upon what Alicia was saying and the words she used Andy had a nagging feeling that Alicia literally meant an inner voice but anyway, hopefully the next card, if there was one, would clear things up a little. If Andy had been a little disturbed by the hanged man card then the death card really worried him, despite Alicia's assurances of the death card having an alternate meeting than it's name directly implied. The fact that Alicia said Andy may come out a different person in regards to whatever situation the death card referred to kind of upset him, after all he liked who he was and didn't want to change into a different person. "Umm...I don't want to be a different person" Andy fidgeted a little and stayed silent after that unsure of how he should continue. |

Alicia wasn't sure what to say in response to his reaction. It seemed that the reading had upset him. Especially the last card. She tried to think of a way to console him. She felt a little on edge to. Death was always an elusive card in her deck until she reached this city. She had only encountered it in a reading only once or twice in the entire 7 years that she has been reading fortunes. But now, in the city of Rockport, she has done four readings thus far; First ones was for both Rei and herself, the next was for the occult club, and lastly one for Andy. Death has appeared in every single one so far. She couldn't help but this about the murders that have occurred when she had first arrived, the incident at the hospital that happened only recently, and the implications that both may be having with her tarot. She tried to think of a way to console Andy. Her only answer was Tarot. It was what got him into this mood, perhaps it will help get her out. "One moment, Let's see if I these can explain themselves further." She didn't bother to shuffle the deck, since the reading hadn't changed. ![]() Alicia let out a sigh of relief, the cards were being more agreeable than usual. She half expected to see the moon arcana, with her deck being a tight lipped and vague. "Strength Arcana, in the upright position, symbolizing the strength inside. Subduing one's inner demons and becoming stronger because of it." She had never had to clarify a tarot reading this way, but if she did a four card reading, it would've played out the same way. She hoped this had at least eased some of his worries. |

Andy did not like the cards he was shown, not one bit especially the death one as it seemed to be an indicator or some form of adversity in his his future and the reason why that was so off putting to Andy was that he hated having to work hard with something he didn't enjoy not one bit which probably made him come off as very lazy and immature but that was probably due to the fact he was. When Alicia said about seeing if the cards would further explain themselves Andy was not the slightest bit positive about that and despite not wanting her to, he was too shy to speak up and say no so dreading what the results would be Andy just sat still and stayed silent. Despite his own personal sense of dread in regards to what card would be pulled from the deck it wasn't actually as bad as he thought it would, at least not until Alicia explained the strength card to him which was what actually pretty much ruined it for Andy; he didn't want to get forced into over coming any inner-demons nor did he want to become "stronger" in the context that Alicia wanted, all he wanted to do was a nice simple non challenging existence. "Haiu...ok...." Andy's voice seemed to have lost any sense of energy it had before on account of this tarot card reading. |

Alicia could see that the boy was displeased with the reading. With a bit of a frown, she placed her cards back in the deck, feeling somewhat defeated. Usually if she built up the courage to perform a reading for someone, it was typically a positive reaction. But this, even she felt a little disappointed. She wanted to make him feel better, since she felt responsible for introducing the cards to him. She thought that maybe trying to connect with him will maybe make it better. "You know, I used to struggle with change too. I still do, to some extent. Change isn't easy." She took a deep breath, followed by a sigh. "Within this year alone, my parents got a divorce, and I was shipped here because I was viewed as problematic. A liability to their sparkling reputation." She stopped herself there. "No mention of visions," she told herself; not yet. "But change is unfortunately a way of life. Being born is the first change we all experience. And life will continue to change as we grow and mature until we approach the final change." She said stopping herself, feeling as if she wasn't improving the situation. "What I am trying to say is change isn't something you should have to be afraid of. Sometimes it can be for the better too, you know." She could almost say that she felt winded from that. She couldn't remember the last time she had talked so much. She wasn't sure how else to console the boy. |

Before Alicia starting talking Andy had slept into the depths of a depression episode and while no, he wasn't diagnosed with proper depression, Andy did still get rather down in the dumps at moments and this was one of the moments and while Andy doubted that Alicia had malicious intent or wanted to make Andy depressed, she had still done that. When Alicia actually started talking trying to console Andy all he did was pull his legs close to himself and sulk ignoring her, after all he didn't WANT to change, he HATED change as it NEVER ever paid off and he would never ever like it. This may sound cruel on Andy's part but he didn't care that Alicia's parents got divorced, at least she got to have a real dad for at least some years of her life unlike Andy who had been raised by his mum alone. "I don't care! Change never makes ANYTHING better and at least you HAVE a dad! Mine ditched me and fucked off before my first day at school ever and since then has had ten other women!" Andy had kind of lost his cool and plain shouted at Alicia due to how angry he actually was know and yes, having Alicia give him that advice and basically saying "just because I accept change you have to" really rubbed Andy the wrong way, especially when she mentioned that her parents only got divorced this year as that was NOTHING compared to the broken family Andy had at home. But anyway, to summarize Andy HATED change but not because he was incapable of adapting, he was but the reason for his hated and refusal to meet change half way was because it had NEVER paid off in the past, all change had ever done was ruin his life. "Change ruins everything..........." Edited by Lunar Cataphract, Feb 23 2014, 10:05 AM.

Alicia felt sick to her stomach with his words. Partially angered by his disregard for everything she had said, but more so saddened that she couldn't improve the situation. She grabbed her bag quietly, eyes facing the grass at her feet. She knew that she was no longer welcome. She felt as if she had overstayed her welcome the moment she withdrew her deck. "I will leave you be then." she said weakly with a tinge of bitterness. She built up the strength to merely glance into his eyes, feeling her face and ears burn with embarrassment. She never got angry often, perhaps that's what goaded her into saying more. "I suggest next time, assume that there could possibly be more to a situation than you realize. Perhaps that way you wont seem so insensitive." She turned away, pivoting on her heel. Her ginger hair blew through the wind as she walked quickly back into the school. She felt like a horrible person for saying that, but she knew she couldn't simply walk back and apologize. (Exit: Social Link Reversed)
