Behold, a Paleblood sky!

Hibiki could instantly tell he'd found the right place when he walked inside. Weapons of all kinds were on display, and the one that drew his crimson eyes to their display. The sheer variety of polearms available. How was there that kind of variety in a single weapon concept? One of them even seemed to have a blade count in the dozens attached to one haft. There was another problem too. He hadn't realized the sheer... Length of polearms until he saw them in person. He'd brought a duffle bag to transport it in, but it didn't look like any of those would fit, so the real question was how he was going to get one back to his dorm room after buying it. He could probably get away with hanging it on the wall once he got there, calling it a decoration and hoping nobody tried touching the blade. Oh, right, he was supposed to be meeting someone from the persona-users-website here. He quit staring at the wall rack that had been holding his attention to check for the person in the red jacket. Jing didn't exactly feel better the second time that he'd come to Zeal Metalworks. Something about just all those deadly weapons on display like rows of cheap plastic watches at a Don Quiote or the exceptionally cheerful and friendly demeanor that he felt had no place pinned on someone who purveyed said deadly weapons just creeped him out. But as luck would have it, the same necessity that brought him there first to get a sword now had him wandering around in a red windbreaker, jeans and a black t-shirt that said [Ironic Statement.] in white English letters. He was mainly loitering and waiting for the 'PredatorKing' to make himself known. In the mean time, he was just browing: Trying out the weapons he were more familiar with for feel. As uneasy as the place left him, he was sure he was going to be back, so a second, better look at the merchandize couldn't have hurt. |

Since weekends were basically the only days Hibiki was safe from the tyranny of school uniforms, he'd worn black jeans with a long red shirt, and a plain chain-link style bracelet hung around one wrist. That was the one alright. He looked over the store again, just to be sure. But they were the only other customers here right now, and they matched the minimal description he had. He casually walked over to Jing. "3Deep, is that you?" |

At the very moment, he was holding up what most people call a guandao for inspection. The further he went from a small core of weapons that were what he was taught to use growing up, the less familiar he was, but he knew a little about those sorts. It was heavier than the sort he was used to, but that was thanks to using a metal tube for a haft instead of wood. He was surprised that the balance wasn't skewed compared to the one he last handled. He turned it around it's long axis in his hand and admired the business end from different angles. It seemed competently made, but that only left him more uneasy. Someone calling out to him was a welcome distraction. "Yes, that's me. You're the OP in that thread?" He really prepared if he didn't have to repeat that screen name. They were usually things that sounded fine and clever read on a monitor but cringe worthy to say out loud. He set the weapon back on the rack he found it and looked Hibiki over. "Please, just call me Jing. Anyways, you were looking for a spear?" Edited by nonsequitur, Feb 13 2016, 08:51 PM.

"Yeah, that was me." Hibiki shifted his weight from foot to foot, he wasn't used to meeting people off the internet, let alone doing it to buy a questionably legal weapon and learn the basics of a martial art. "That was the plan, something simple, with enough reach to keep them from hitting me back." He looked over at on of the weapons that fit his mental image of what he wanted. It looked pretty heavy, but maybe his persona could do something about the weight? Yeah, I could make it even heavier. He really really needed to remember that couldn't hold an inner monologue in peace anymore. "Hibiki Miyamoto, nice meeting you." |

"Likewise, Hibiki." There wasn't much about the situation that wasn't painfully awkward, just meeting some random person off the internet for martial arts training or the bizarre nature of the shop just worked together to give such an odd atmosphere. He also noticed Hibiki had red eyes, which was unusual. It didn't stand out so much that he felt the need to comment on it or even lose his stride. "I take it you have no experience with using weapons? Oh, hold up your hand please, just like this." Jing stood straight back and with his arm straight up. A good rule of thumb for a spear that suited a person would be the left of the thing to be about that height. Once Hibiki did as he requested, Jing would go about finding one that had the correct length for him. "I'm still new to this, so a lot of things will be ad hoc." Ad hoc was the correct phrase there. It was kind of how he was taught to. "I know a place where we won't be bothered, but it'll need to be prepared. You'll also need to do a lot of conditioning. Are you prepared for that?" Every drop of sweat was a drop of blood not spilled on the battlefield, as far as he was concerned. So drilling into him how to take care of himself was a top priority. "Will also need some training spears too, won't we…? Ah, try this one for size." He offered him a spear that was the right length to see what he thought of the grip. He was going to be using it, after all. If it was no good, it was time to try another. |

"None at all." Hibiki raised his hand as asked. "Never planned on doing any fighting before the Shadows." And even if he did, he could have just used his arms and legs for that, it's just that killing monsters was sort of... No, not exciting, what was the word for that feeling he had? We're just drawn to it, call it 'Gravity'. He liked how it sounded. "Do I really have a choice? If I'm going to keep going to those place, I'll need to be prepared. I'm not giving up just because it'll be hard. How long will it take to get the place ready?" He'd need to have an idea of when, and how often, he'd be training with Jing, too. "Probably, if we don't to kill each other during training." The red-eyed student took the offered spear, testing hand spacing and different grips for a moment before he felt confident in how he held it. "Feels right, but I really don't have anything to compare it to." That would be inconvenient, and ideally, he didn't want to kill anything. Except maybe the shadows, but they weren't 'living' in the first place, right? |

"If it feels right, that's a good start. Get it, and we'll do alterations later if needed." It was fine, so long as it was a good feel to it, they could build from there. As for the question of how long it would take? "I don't have classes today or tomorrow, it'll probably take me all day without help. Cleaning it out, getting what we'd need in there. We can start the day after that, after my morning classes, alright?" Hibiki sounded determined, which was good, It meant he'd stick though the hard parts and wouldn't slack off on practicing either. But Jing paused as he mentioned training related mishaps did he…oh! Right! He must not have gotten his point across correctly. "I meant get it from here while we're still here, getting some wooden training weapons with blunted tips shouldn't be hard, and probably cheaper than metal, too. I say just buy that for now. But do you know where you're going to store it when not in use?" Edited by nonsequitur, Jun 12 2016, 01:06 AM.

"That was the plan when we started." He looked over the weapon for a price tag. Was that it? Not bad, compared to what he'd thought it'd have been, but still a pretty high number. "I can try and help with the cleanup if you want." The student continued. "That should be fine. Oh, while we're scheduling this. I go to Kasuhayashi, and club meetings are sort of expected of me on tuesday, thursday, and saturday. They'll cancel those if it rains, though." Oh, that made more sense. "That's a good idea." Probably better for his wallet too, he'd have to remember to save up for the real thing later, too bad he couldn't make money hunting shadows, but unfortunately, life didn't work like an RPG. He leaned the weapon in his hands into an upright position, resting the non-pointed end on the floor. "I thought I could pass it off as decorative, at least for now. Hang it on my wall or something." |

"Yes, I'd absolutely appreciate the help. On the cleanup, I mean." Now that he thought about it, it might have been useful to offer a sort of training area to everyone who had access to Thou. The might even get more help getting it put together or even offered a potentially more suitable place. They were also talking schedules? "I have classes mornings Mondays, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but they're usually over by afternoon. Though I have lab on Saturday that takes up quite some time. I don't think we'll have trouble finding a day that works on the afterschool days you'd be free?" That seemed to settle about everything except how and where to store Hibiki's newest acquisiton. "Well, so long as you're careful with it and it doesn't seem likely someone's going to play with it and hurt themselves. That's fine. My first lesson can be how to safely store and maintain it, right?" |
