"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"

Oh hey, look, our humble little forum has finally graduated from using generic IRC servers to that wonderful little application called Discord! You can find the Discord server that is home to our members here. Or maybe you found this thread through the link in that same server's Rules tab! If the former, you can join at that link through either the standalone Discord app or by creating an account on the Discord website for use with their web app. If the latter... presumably you know what a Discord is! You lucky overachievers can skip right on down to the rules~ --- - The Guided Tour - --- Discord is a lovely application that allows for several sophisticated methods whereby sophisticated people may engage in sophisticated communications with one another. Our own server offers a range of gentlemanly options for your conversational pleasures. Those of you with a liking for digital entertainment may find like-minded enthusiasts in the "vidya" channel. Those whose favored passtime is the consumption of fine literature may find their place in "bookworms." If for some reason the obscenity and madness of Japanese popular fiction does not put you off, I direct you to "weebstuff." Lovers of film and television productions of any sort may avail themselves of the "cinemaniacs" channel, and I'm sure you all have children who will enjoy sharing their love of Archie Comics and Savage Dragon in the "splashpage" channel. Lastly, the athletically-inclined individual may avail themselves of the sound of crickets in the "sportyspice" channel. For everything else, the "general" channel will suffice. When not shooting the proverbial breeze with the fine aristocrats with whom you will be rubbing elbows on this server, you will find our Discord server to be a wonderful means of keeping up-to-date with the activities of the forum, including but not limited to notifications as to which of your topics may have been "tagged" (as the children say) or what important story events are currently in progress. Happy Chatting~ --- - The Rules - --- We here at Persona: Mindscapes are not super big on stick-up-the-rear rules. But there are still a few general ones you need to follow unless you want our boots kicking that stick up your own rear on your way out of our playground. And here they are:
--- - Member Status, Therapy, and Politics - --- Upon joining the Discord server, your only role will be the generic "@everyone" that every person on the Discord shares. After creating a character and posting for a bit, you will be given (or if we forget, you may ask for) the "Members" role. The only purpose of the Members role is that it stands as verification that you are here with the intention of sticking around as a member of our community and are not just "poking your head in." Users without the Members role will not be able to read or post in the "therapy" chat channel or use the voice chat channel. The "therapy" channel is a side-channel for when a user wants to unload something that might be a little too personal or uncomfortable in some way for the general chat. This is a place for us all to be friends to each other when it would help to have friends, so don't get condescending or combative about anything and don't spam this channel with stuff that doesn't belong in it. There is, in addition to the above, a "politics" channel. In order to see or post in the politics channel, you must be granted the "Politics Opt-In" role by a member of staff with the power to assign it. If you wish to participate in the politics channel (which is a catch-all for not just politics discussions but other controversial subjects, such as religion, race, gender-stuff, and the like), you must be able to keep a cool head and be civil about disagreement with others' opinions. You can discuss and you can debate, but if a conversation has escalated to the status of "argument," everyone needs to step back, take a breath, and either let it drop or come back to it when calm. If you cannot follow this rule, your permission to use this channel will be revoked and it will not be returned to you. |
