"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
|
Name: Kenshin Nakadachi Age: 18 Gender: Male School/Occupation: Tenshihishou High School, Class 3-B Clubs: Boxing Club Interests/Hobbies: Kenshin is a thrill-seeker, whose most sought-after pursuits are sex, good food, alcohol, and when he wants to wind down, some videogame time. That said, just about anything that can get an adrenaline rush going is liable to be something he enjoys doing... even if he feels guilty about it later. Appearance: Somewhat tall for a Japanese boy and with a definite lean, athletic build, Kenshin's eyes are reddish-brown and his hair a dark red. These features combined with his dark skin-tone and general manner combine to give him a sort of "dashing rogue" aura, although that in itself isn't something he normally capitalizes on. Kenshin's style of dress is mostly practical rough-and-tumble, with biker's boots, well-worn jeans (which unlike most jeans worn by boys his ages, did not start out faded or torn; they just saw that much use), and a simple jacket with the letter for "bad" ("Aku") on the back, a deliberate play on the "bad boy" label stuck on him at school by a certain one of his teachers in Osaka. Even with the additional money his new foster parents provide, he doesn't seem inclined to change his dress sense at all... Personality: Kenshin normally puts on a cheerful, devil-may-care sort of attitude toward just about anyone and anything, though at times he seems to be working a bit too hard to maintain that upbeat persona. While at one time Kenshin was blatantly outgoing, either with a buddy-buddy attitude or an outright flirty one toward the female half of his school's population, he seemed to become gradually more reserved in the months before he and his sister made the move to Yumegawa. His father's death only seems to have sped this transition up, as with most people he no longer seems interested in doing more than exchanging small-talk or a one-night stand. His sister remains oblivious to this change; in an effort to keep her spirits up, he always behaves as if nothing is wrong whenever she's in the same room as him, his primary concern--as always--being to protect her from the harshness of the world, something he hopes the new home situation will help facilitate. Kenshin is a rather excitable guy even considering his recent subdued mood, and has a tendency to get wound up or outright pissed off over relatively small things. Recently, he has even displayed a tendency to get into fights at the drop of a pin. At the end of the day, no matter how cavalier he is about the deed while it's happening, Kenshin simply can't get over the knowledge that he is, in fact, the very reason his former love interest and father are both dead. History: Kenshin Nakadachi and his sister, Chika, were born to an ordinary Japanese family in an ordinary Japanese home. Nothing about this household ever indicated that it would become a breeding ground for tragedy, but that's exactly what it nearly became. It began during a trip overseas to America, where during the course of an otherwise normal vacation, Kenshin's mother was brutally raped and murdered, left in a dumpster to rot. While the killer was caught in short order, the Nakadachi family was shaken to its very core by this event--none moreso than Kenshin's father, who fell into an alcoholic depression so severe that he found himself less and less able to hold down a job as the months went by. Kenshin himself fell to cynicism; he had seen the dark side of life, and there was simply no looking at the bright side of it the same way anymore. Only Chika maintained a positive disposition, desperate to keep her brother happy and hoping against hope that one day her father might move on and smile again. Kenshin's idea of catharsis had always been either good food or an adrenaline rush; lacking the former, he found himself relying more and more on the latter, taking to the streets to blow off steam. He would get into fights, he would tresspass on private property, he would even hang with the local street-gang kids whenever he wanted the expensive feeling of alcohol or tobacco for cheap. It was a lifestyle that got less and less feasible the more time passed, as their household's financial situation got worse and worse. And as it got worse and worse, so did Kenshin's temper, leading him to seek more and more opportunities for catharsis--a vicious cycle that wasn't helped at all by the fact that he needed to spend a good deal of his time working to help keep the family afloat. In the end, the family was left in poverty, barely able to maintain a home in one of Osaka's slummiest neighborhoods, and it was around this time that Kenshin made a decision that might have, ironically, worked out for the best... at least, so far as his family was concerned. At about the time his sister was pondering the merits of a certain other method of obtaining money, Kenshin met a girl named Kyo Charinko: a wild, hedonist green-haired tomboy who'd gained infamy in the rumor mill for sleeping around and sometimes seducing boys into having full-blown affairs with her. He, too, fell to her charms, but she also fell to his... and the whole school knew it, because Kyo Charinko had simply stopped sleeping with anyone else. The only thing they hadn't done at that point was make their relationship official. That was when Nishiyo Sadako approached Kenshin with a proposition: he would ask Kyo out on a date late at night, at a specific location at a specific time, and simply not show up. It would be revenge, Nishiyo said, for Kyo's seduction of her boyfriend. If he did so, she would pay him a handsome sum: money on par with a low-grade hitman contract, though to him it was a ludicrous amount of money. Kenshin, mistaking this as a request to simply blow her off and break her heart, agreed--thinking he could smooth things over with Kyo later. The money was too good to turn down with the position his family was in, after all. Kenshin was anxious, and nearly went to meet Kyo by the lake anyway. After the fact, he would wish he had: the girl went missing for two days and eventually, she was found... in that very same lake, her corpse bound, gagged, and beaten, a death-by-drowning. When he learned the truth, Kenshin confronted Nishiyo only to learn a terrible truth. She was the daughter of a family entangled in the local Yakuza, and she had simply wanted a means to deal with Kyo Charinko that didn't involve relying on her family's connections. She had no intention of remaining with the Yakuza, and connecting herself in any way with the girl's death would risk her precious record! But he was too dangerous to leave alive now, of course, so she would simply have to dispose of him-- --and it was right about the point she said that, that Kenshin's best friend and wingman brained the bitch on the skull with a heavy textbook and then cut off the recording. The girl's Yakuza connections might have caused him and his family problems, he knew, even though the evidence was turned in anonymously. Kenshin made it his life's mission after this encounter to work up enough money to leave Osaka behind for good; there was nothing keeping either himself or his family here except lack of funds to move. He made the unfortunate mistake, however, of telling his father about the situation, and the need to skip town before anything could happen to them. His father's response was simple: he hung himself, his suicide note begging that his children be placed with a loving foster family outside of Osaka, one that could give them the life he couldn't. Chika was clueless about her father's true motive, and simply mourned his loss as any child will their father's. Having known that it was only a matter of time until he passed on, however, her chief concern became keeping her brother's spirits up. Kenshin knew the truth. Their father had killed himself to allow the two of them an escape. Both Nakadachi siblings were placed in foster care with a family in Yumegawa, one with enough money to enroll them in the local public school. Chika no longer had to slave away over her many dead-end, part-time jobs; Kenshin could live a carefree life that didn't involve slumming with street-trash gang members whenever he wanted a smoke or a drink. Kenshin knew it was a fresh start, even if had cost so very much, and for his sister's sake if not his own, he resolved to move on--to be happy. It just wasn't as easy as putting on a smile again. Weapons/Equipment/Combat Skill: Kenshin is competent enough at fighting that he is able to use a weapon such as a baseball bat to decent effect, although he's only really well-versed enough in fisticuffs to stand a chance against a trained opponent. He also knows how to properly use, reload, and maintain a handgun. He currently owns no weapons and must make do with either his fists or whatever he might acquire later on. Initial Persona: - Name: Demitri Maximoff - Arcana: XVIII - The Moon - Drain: Dark - Reflect: n/a - Null: n/a - Resist: Physical - Weak: Fire, Light, Water, Nuclear - Initial Skills: Zan, Mudo, Rakunda - Current Skills: Zan, Mazan, Mudo, Bash, Rampage, Evil Touch, Rakunda Official Artwork by Stanley Lau Kenshin Nakadachi's Persona takes the form of Demitri, a key iconic figure in the Darkstalkers fighting game franchise: a vampire inhabiting a castle that only appeared during the full moon, Demitri was exiled to the human world along with his castle after challenging and being defeated by Belial Aensland, after which he remained in his casket for fifty years, recovering his strength. A century after his defeat, he sought revenge--only to find that Belial was dead, leaving only his succubus daughter, Morrigan Aensland, as the target for his conquest... As a Persona, Demitri possesses competent offensive capabilities but, as it develops, it will eventually gain more of a slant toward disabling the opponent through Panic and eventually Fear magic, decreasing their endurance, and draining their life to provide sustenance and healing for its summoner. Demitri also possesses potential for potent physical-based attacks, and is overall, a fairly well-rounded Persona, although it might never achieve the same heights of power as some others. |
