Akuro held her jacket over her head and wished she possessed the foresight to bring an umbrella. The rain began abruptly, and she was halfway between home and school (she got up early and left so she could get situated in class before the starting bell rang) when it started coming down. She knew it was going to rain, but hadn't expected it to start so early or be so intense.

What a dismal way to start the school year.

Akuro sniffled as she walked- she'd heard that you got wetter if you ran- and made sure not to walk into the large puddles that were forming on the sidewalk leading up to the school gates.

Rain? Well, in a way, Jun didn't mind the rain terribly much. It gave the air this clean feeling afterwards like nothing else. He also suspected that his ambivalence had a lot to do with the fact that he had time to get a raincoat an an umbrella. Without those, his bike ride to the first day would have been far less fun.

He'd pulled up a bit after her. One hand held his clear plastic umbrella, the other one was guiding the handlebars. He offered Akuro a bit of pleasantries before he got to the business of finding a place to leave his bike, gathering up his things and finding his homeroom. "Good morning."

Having bothered to check the weather predictions in the morning news, as he didn't exactly like the amount of clouds in the sky, Naozumi was prepared for the incoming downpour, arming himself with a plain black umbrella. Not that it mattered much - just to be sure, his sister-in-law insisted on driving him over to school, as it was on the way to the police precinct.

The boy opened the cover as soon as he got out of the car and waved goodbye to his family member. She left him somewhat near the school's gate, in the middle of the road, as it would be of bad taste to take a parking spot during such a busy morning only to leave two minutes later. Water dripped down from the fabric, falling all around him, yet not seemingly splashing him at all as he walked slowly enough, without a care in the world.

Nao's second hand was busy carrying his leather satchel, conveniently propped over his shoulder for support in a somewhat lazy manner. The boy stopped on his tracks somewhat near the pair of classmates, though not due to noticing them; he probably wouldn't have recognized them regardless. Instead, his gaze was fixed on the towering building that was the education facility, with a rather bored, if not annoyed, expression crossing his features.

"...Ugh, should'a stayed at home..." The boy muttered under his breath, not being a fan of studying at all.

"Oh, hello!" Akuro said to Jun, friendly despite being completely drenched. "Uh...could you share your umbrella? My jacket's doing a bad job of protecting me from the rain..."

She looked to the boy who arrived in the car. "Hello to you, too!" she said, trying to come across as friendly.

"Of course." It didn't seem like a big deal. It was only until they were getting inside anyways, and then everyone wouldn't have any need for the coats or the other protections against the rain in the first place. He had a polite smile as he offered her room under his umbrella.

"You left home before it started to rain?" He noticed the other boy, they were all going in the same general direction, weren't they? It looked like he was having a miserable morning already. He didn't really think it was his business to pry. But rather than just stare and say nothing, he also greeted the other boy. "Good morning."

Oh, it was all just polite chatter, but that was fine by Jun.

"Hm?"

Two separate greetings reached Nao's ears. Normally he would have ignored them, but he took note of two things - no one near him was stopping, and the voices were both aimed towards his own location. The teenager glanced over at where they came from, and, apparently, there were now two students in his field of vision, one male, and one female.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't put a name to their faces, but had the feeling he had seen both somewhere before. Once or twice, maybe...

"Hello." Nao finally spoke up, not bothering minimally to insert politeness into his tone. His perpetually bored expression didn't seem to change either. "Do you need anything?"

If they didn't, they were just wasting his time. What a pain...

"Thank you." said Akuro, rushing to the protection of Jun's umbrella. When Jun asked if she'd left before the rain, she nodded. "I didn't expect for it to rain until after class began." Akuro admitted sheepishly. "Oh! I haven't introduced myself. I'm Akuro Yasukawa."

Hearing Nao's voice, she smiled at him. "Since we're all here, we might as well walk together!" she said, hoping that Nao would agree with her.

The same polite smile. There was something noncommittal about just smiling because that was what was expected of you. "No, I was about to ask you if you needed the same?" Perhaps he just didn't really want to be at school. Jun could have related to that feeling.

To the new occupant of his umbrella? The same smile, the dark-haired boy added. "My name's Jun Okita, pleased to meet you." She didn't seem like one of those girls that was impressed with a pretty face: Excellent. Maybe they'd actually get along in the future, then?

Nao didn't bother introducing himself at all, and forgot Akuro's name as quickly as it reached his ears. He seemed largely unimpressed by their friendly behavior, it doing little, if anything at all, to change his blank expression.

Boring.

"Not interested." He stated bluntly towards Akuro as she threw out the suggestion. About Jun's phrase, however, something seemed to surprise him, his eyes widening minutely before he spoke up once more.

"...Do I look like I need something?"

That was odd. He was well clothed and fed, the umbrella covered him well, and he found his way to the facility's gate. He couldn't possibly come up with anything he might require in the eyes of an onlooker, and shrugged. Leaving the pair behind, not even remembering they were his classmates, the boy approached the covered part to the side of the gate, and held his school bag safely between his legs. After doing so, he closed the umbrella temporarily so to go through the small pedestrian gate, and retrieved a magnetic card from his right pants pocket.

He swiped his card across the device that would recognize his identity; surely enough, his picture and identification showed up instantly in the security monitor. Being granted his way into the school, he picked up his bag again after pocketing the pass, opened his umbrella once more and proceeded to march into the school grounds at a very slow pace.

Oh, sue me. I'll just play some Pokemon.
Rika was always perplexed by rain. Sure, she knew the scientific reasons for its occurence and existence. But beyond that, she felt like she didn't truly know why it happened or why it was even there. Was it really just part of nature to just take away life's most important resource then dump it back onto the Earth? Or was it because some higher power thought it was for the best that the land would just forgo a few days or so without some watery goodness?

Regardless, Rika optimistically walked to school with the umbrella over her head, smiling and enjoying herself quite well despite the weather. As she walked up to the school gate, she immediately saw three figures. Two boys and a girl. One boy and the girl were under an umbrella together. Feeling the need to check out the situation, Rika walked up to the lone boy and turned to him.

"Hello!" She greeted, smiling. "Are you new here, by any chance?"
