Hopefully I can explain my problems and have it make sense. And granted I have 150k miles, but wanted to see if I could find some answers. Over the past 6 months or so I have noticed 2 times that my engine sputters at low RPM and idle. 1: anytime AC is on (i.e. AC or defroster) and idling. Sounds like there is a misfire or something? 2: if I get on the accelerator too fast when starting out (manual trans) it sputters really bad. I have replaced sparkplugs, wires (msd superconductors), and put in new MSD ignition coil. The coil did help some, but the problem is still there. To add to this, there are some times that when I have headlights, fog lights, cd/radio on, when the fan kicks on, the radio cuts out and headlights dim. I checked the charging system and it seems to be ok from what I can tell. What are some ideas as to what to check, replace, fix, etc? Thanks in advance |

What does your voltage look like before, during, and after the problem occurs? It could be related to the charging system, coils (which you replaced), ECU, or even a bad ground. |

How do you check the voltage? I checked the charging system by looking at battery charge with car off then checking with car on and it was within the parameters that's in the Haynes manual. I am thinking that it may be a ground at this point...when I have radio on and wipers on, and even turn signal sometimes, I can hear static in the radio. is there a way to test grounds or do I have to go over everything? |
