Everytime Mock says something against me, Dootle and Lea will lick his balls. It's like a game, but kind of weird to watch. |

They are just making it easier for her to make her mistakes. If they couldn't stop the relationship, they should have just let her move in with the guy. When that fell apart, then they could pick up the pieces. Right now, they're just making it easier for the girl to romanticize the relationship, as well as receiving tacit if grudging approval from her parents. They're also setting up an us vs them dynamic, particularly the mother. This is only going to push the girl to the slimeball even more. That's something that absolutely baffles me. Why the hell would the guy agree to move in with the girl's parents? I assume it's leeching, since the article says:
She would have learned her lesson much more quickly if they had let her just go off and struggle a bit. Instead, they are dragging it out, which is going to make the fall that much harder. |

She's obviously very stubborn and unreasonable - if her parents said fine, move out with him she would have. And she probably would have stayed, no matter how bad it would have gotten. Her parents probably know her better than you do. |

Well, possibly, or possibly her stubbornness would have been turned against the guy in the day-to-day struggle of living on their own. Since the girl asked if he could move in so they could save money, that seems plausible. After all, she has the dual ambitions of getting married and having babies while also being an actress and travelling the world all while being a drama student. She's obviously use to getting her way, no matter how unreasonable. I rather doubt she would take being told "no" by anyone well, her boyfriend included. By eliminating this point of conflict, financial difficulties, her parents are just making it easier for her to be stubborn. She needs a good dose of reality. |

Her parents went with the known, rather than unknown. Sometimes, parents make decisions out of love, rather than stubborness about being "right". |

The known they chose was to make it easier for the girl to continue her relationship, one they know is a mistake. That was a bad choice. |

I guess being a parent teaches you certain things you can't grasp otherwise. |

Yes, being able to justify bad choices being the most prominent. They are not only letting her continue a sick relationship, they are actually enabling it and ensuring that it continues longer. Now, perhaps they can not put a stop to it, but encouraging it via financial support is just dumb. |

This is the only way they can exercise direct control over the relationship, Plague. Also, by seeming to support the relationship it may totally destroy the excitement.. She is only 16 after all, it's probably all for impact. |

Well, I suppose that's possible, but it seems more likely they are reinforcing the notion in the girl that she always gets her way. After all, she asked them for him to live in their home, with the emotional blackmail of threatening to move out if they didn't agree. It would have been better to call her bluff and let her see what shacking up with a 30-something strapped for cash was really like rather than provide room and board for him. I really don't see how they are exercising any direct control over the relationship, other than enabling it. Sure, the guy is living there, but it sounds as though he's fairly isolated:
So, that makes it sound like the happy couple are essentially living in a private little world consisting of her room, which the moronic parents are providing. |
