Bisexuality is a Distinct Sexual Orientation Results from a 10-year study show that bisexuality in women is not a transitional phase enroute to lesbianism, but rather a distinct and long-term sexual orientation. In 2005 a paper in Psychological Science debunked the idea that men have bisexual attraction (they’re either gay or straight the study concluded). Ok, still up for debate. But what about women? Does bisexuality legitimately exist in women? This week the American Psychological Association published the first longitudinal study of female bisexuality. Dr. Lisa Diamond studied 79 women over a 10-year period, in an attempt to define female bisexuality. She found no evidence for the commonly held view that bisexuality is an experimental phase, enroute to lesbianism or heterosexuality. Rather she found that bisexuality in women is a distinct and consistent sexual orientation. Interestingly, she also found that as women age, they become more aware of their sexual fluidity, and thus tend to turn more toward bisexuality than away from it. And check this out: even though bisexuals continue to be attracted to both sexes as they age, they are more likely than heterosexuals or lesbians, to settle into monogamous relationships. Hm. The more fluid you are sexually, the more stable you become behaviorally. What’s up with that? http://www.sciam.com/podcast/episode.cfm?id=8902D6F8-F97C-E6FE-74B6D67845F05FEA |

now to the topic. It's not a secret that I have slept with a few women. It's no secret that I, completey and totally enjoyed myself. But then I have with the men i've slept with. Everyone brings a new skill to the table! Do I still find myself attracted to certain women?.. abso-bloody-lutely.. but no more or less than I do with certain men. If i think you're hot.. I just think you're hot.. whatever you look like under your underwear. I think, and keep in mind that this is my view on this. The less likely you are to pigeon hole your sexual orientation/attractions.. the more likely you are to settle (as in find that ONE that fullfills all of those things in you ) than you are when you're "well i can't love that person.. they have the wrong bits!". You settle because of the person.. not because of the body parts they've been assigned. now having said all of that.. if i was single (and I"m not) i'd be up for a good rogering from both shades and stoyva. Not at the same time, however, I"m far too greedy.

This seems to contradict the long-held view, by Kinsey and others, that the majority of men -- 80%, I think -- are some proportion of gay & straight. It also seems to contradict the popular notion (popular in some circles) that men and women are not fundamentally different with respect to attributes of sexual attraction. |

My experience with men has been that the great majority I have been with, are on the "straight" side of things, but have fantasies or experiences of being with other men too. |

Sex has another dimension for men that I don't think is there in women--dominance. Why do you think men want big penises? it's not just for women. It's to intimidate other men. In the wild male monkeys will fuck other male monkeys just as a way of putting them in their place. We have the same basic primate mentality. That's why straight guys can sometimes do gay stuff and not be gay. Because for those guys the dominance is the turn on, not being with a man per se. |

I think you're underestimating the number of women who are turned on by dominance, or power in some form. I personally think that all sex has some element of power. Or maybe it's just in my head. Because that's hot. |

I'm not even talking about conscious stuff. I mean primitive animal brain stuff. Women don't have penetration power. At least none that they're born with. So they don't really understand that aspect of it. If they did there would be as many female rapists, buggering men with strap-ons, as there are male rapists. I'm not saying women are naturally submissive. I just mean men and women get off on different kinds of power. There are exceptions on both sides, but theyre not the norm. |
